To think no one has ever actually sold anything on Vinted

Literally everything I have put on there never sells. Dozens of favourites, I message and say 'would you like it?' Nothing!

While I'm at it, has anyone ever ironed anything before putting it on Vinted?

Yes I've sold loads of stuff. The secret is not charging too much for your items x

HelenHywater · 21/05/2022 19:14

I've sold lots (adult clothes). You just can't price things very high. I didn't know about tagging though and might try that for my unsold items.

Fairyliz · 21/05/2022 19:21

Can you make sure you put lots of information on there. I buy on Vinted and it’s surprising how many people don’t put information about material etc.

LemonDrizzles · 21/05/2022 19:22

Favourites are like watching. If they were interested, they would offer.

I recently bought a lot of children's clothes. It arrived today! Still wary of all my burns on Facebook and ebay though. I could go on.

Online selling and buying is more risky.

All the best

CorneliaMarie · 21/05/2022 19:23

Made £205 in 3 weeks from 19 items. Some went for £30, 20, 10 and others for £5.

All well photographed, good descriptions, good brands and summer stuff.

Few other bits have just sat there.

CorneliaMarie · 21/05/2022 19:25

As others said don’t price too high. I consider the accumulated amount to be worthwhile rather than the sale of any one item IYSWIM. A couple of items I had go for £30/20 were v expensive new so it’s the same mark down/resale value.

squirrelnutkins1 · 21/05/2022 19:27

I've sold loads, love it!

Zippidy123 · 21/05/2022 19:31

Latenightthoughts thankyou

PanicAtTheDisco2000 · 21/05/2022 19:36

I’ve sold a fair bit, always iron, and hang it nicely. I always photo and upload the brand label and the care / composition label as this is info I like to know. Sometimes include photos of zips / fastening / linings. I list about 20 items every 3 weeks or so and they tend to go. Not too expensive, but if you take care with the listing it can give a buyer comfort about the item imo, so not rock bottom prices.

dottieautie · 21/05/2022 19:38

A friend of mine does really well selling retro clothes she picks up at car boot sales on vinted &depop. Mostly on here I read about scams and scammers though.

tiggergoesbounce · 21/05/2022 19:40

Yes, ours sons clothes sell really quickly, they are not ironed, but hung after washing to not creased.

I would never message anyone who liked it, its like being mithered by a store assistant, i know how to purchase goods, i dont need asking.

What condition are they in???, i only sell like new worn a couple of times, the rest to charity

TurquoiseDragon · 21/05/2022 19:45

I've done well with my stuff. I'm plus sized and selling to get rid of stuff now that I've lost some weight. My shoes have done really well, but size 7 extra wide fit are hard to come by. I've only put up stuff that's in good condition, I haven't yet made offers if someone has favourited an item, although I do haggle if someone makes an offer.

mrsjackrussell · 21/05/2022 19:45

Iv sold lots on there. I take plenty of photos with clothes on a hanger against a white wall. I place a tape measure on various places. Eg. Back of neck to hem so people can see sizing. Also pic of the label with brand and size and care label. Lots of description. Also ironed. Mostly brands like Cos whistles etc

EncantoDaisies · 21/05/2022 19:46

I've sold a fair amount of dresses and shoes

Sodthatforagameofsoldiers · 21/05/2022 19:54

I've sold loads. I took 5 parcels to the parcel shop today, but most were bundles. I never, ever, iron the stuff but then I've probably ironed once in the last 5 years... By the time I've factored in photos, descriptions, printing, packing, taking to the parcel shop etc I really don't want to add in ironing time. I have hundreds of 5 star reviews so it doesn't seem to put anyone off!

I took a break for a few months as I was getting hacked off with shitty low offers. I don't mind a decent offer and a bit of bartering but some offers are just insulting. Since I started up again a few weeks ago I've made a few hundred pounds and just ignored the silly offers or gone back with whatever I'd be prepared to take. I've always priced my items very fairly and have a good bundle discount.

I've bought lots on there too - mostly it's been good and occasionally brilliant. A few duds that have gone straight to charity but that just how it goes.

Lovecat · 21/05/2022 19:54

I'm decluttering at the moment and have made about £150 so far - although DH and DD are then spotting stuff they like and have spent it all! - and so far haven't had a bad experience. I've bought some lovely things very cheaply.

Some stuff I sell for £1 as I just want it gone, other barely-worn/good label things I've held out on and have got a relatively good price for (eg £30 dress selling for £10-15). You never know what will sell, supermarket label stuff I've thought were fairly awful (albeit in excellent condition) have flown out the door while stuff I really loved hasn't sold half as well - so there's no magic answer. I don’t iron, but i do make it as crease free as possible and always photograph against the same background. I don’t actually like photos of people wearing items, but do like a lot of information and honest descriptions.

It really does come in flurries but I find posting up new stuff on a Sunday results in more interest and sales.

MadKittenWoman · 21/05/2022 19:59

Only tried one thing, but it’s not even had any views. Bought something and it didn’t get sent. The seller ghosted me, and Vinted automatically refunded me and gave them a negative review. Will go back to eBay.

drpet49 · 21/05/2022 20:00

Too many scammers on Vinted

MadKittenWoman · 21/05/2022 20:00

I also don’t like photos of people wearing the items, and want the item ironed or steamed.

KitKattaktik · 21/05/2022 20:05

I've sold a fair bit. I find by putting an item up each day it seems to keep my sales regular. I've made about £300 in 4 months.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 21/05/2022 20:07

So loads, much better than eBay.

HazelBite · 21/05/2022 20:21

This thread interests me. I have loads of brand new clthes bought during lockdown (when I was bored) and due to ill health I lost two dress sizes so I have lots with the labels still attached. We are talking High Street clothing dresses £20-30 + new, do you think its worth my time advertising them and what sort of prices should I be asking or am I better off doing a car boot?

Haudyourwheesht · 21/05/2022 20:27

I've sold a bit but more shoes and bags than clothes. Have got some great stuff for DD - lovely dressy dresses barely worn.

mycatisannoying · 21/05/2022 20:32

My 15 year old recommended Vinted to me, and I have to say that I am absolutely hooked. I've been on there a week and have spent nearly £200. To be fair though, I don't often treat myself and am trying to self-improve!
I love Vinted.

RubyJam · 21/05/2022 20:35

I’ve sold loads and I buy loads too,
across all price ranges.

I used to be a committed EBay seller , have now almost 99% switched to Vinted

no fees as a seller and just much less hassle.
