Peas! Angry

Lasagne night in the Hashbrown household and we are reminiscing about the time my DH (then bf) made a lasagne and not only out peas in the mince mixture, but served them as a side too.

I literally did consider strongly ending our relationship at that point.

To this day, he maintains it's a normal thing to have in/with lasagne?!

AIBU?

As a side note, I always serve it with mixed salad and either garlic bread or if I'm being proper porky, chips too!

Can't believe your BF made it to a DH! Travesty! 🤣

Soubriquet · 08/05/2022 17:44

I don’t eat lasagne but even I know peas are not in them nor served with them!

With salad, chips and or garlic bread, yes

Vsirbdo · 08/05/2022 17:44

ive had it appear with Kidney beans in, not a fan

Springandsummerarecoming · 08/05/2022 17:46

They are fine as a side with lasagne but not in the lasagne. I’ve had lasagne with peas carrots and sweetcorn on the side and it was lovely!!

fedupofdrama · 08/05/2022 17:47

I’m literally making a lasagna now…. Thought I was odd adding grated carrot

peas and lasagna is a NO

Oizys · 08/05/2022 17:48

I’m is a crime on the side I can’t get angry about!

mackthepony · 08/05/2022 17:48

Really awful

InChocolateWeTrust · 08/05/2022 17:49

I am totally fine with peas as a side for lasagne.Blush

historygeek · 08/05/2022 17:50

Just had lasagne. No peas, but about 15 years ago DH made sweet and sour lasagne. We still reminisce about how awful it was.

JoeGattoNo · 08/05/2022 17:51

Is he confusing a shepherd's/cottage pie with lasagne at the mince browning stage?

Fifthtimelucky · 08/05/2022 17:51

I would never put peas in a lasagne, but I do serve them with it.

In my defence, peas are the only green vegetable my husband will eat, so it's them or nothing (he won't eat salad either).

Thelonewanderer · 08/05/2022 17:52

I knew someone who's family made spaghetti bolognaise with a tin of baked beans in it. It was vile

MadeForThis · 08/05/2022 17:52

My dsis adds sweetcorn.

Profanasaurusrex · 08/05/2022 17:52

On the side, fine - been offered that with many pub meals. But not in it.

Yarnasaurus · 08/05/2022 17:53

As you might have seen in the other lasagne thread, peas and hard boiled eggs are authentic ingredients in Sicilian lasagne.

And carrots are an essential soffrito component, so not unusual at all.

Matchingcollarandcuffs · 08/05/2022 17:53

DMIL used to put parsnips in her veggie lasagne. Whilst I don't really like them in anything I especially don't like them in lasagne

Longdistance · 08/05/2022 17:53

He’s clearly mixed up the mince recipe with a cottage pie recipe? That’s all I can think of.

Favouritefruits · 08/05/2022 17:58

Celery! Who the hell thinks celery in a lasagne is a good idea! Also don’t like chips with lasagne but garlic bread is fine.

The Italians.

InFiveMins · 08/05/2022 18:06

I wouldn't put peas in a lasagne, and have never served peas with a lasagne, but I would consider them 'passable' as a side!

Most of Italy 🙄

SwedishEdith · 08/05/2022 18:08

Celery and carrots are standard ingredients but I'd never serve it with chips would eat them if they came with them in the pub, of course

DoNotGetADog · 08/05/2022 18:08

I used to work with a lot of Itallian people and lots of them put peas in lasagne.

DoNotGetADog · 08/05/2022 18:09

Italian not “Itallian” 🙄

GoingOnce · 08/05/2022 18:10

I think peas are a fairly standard thing to serve with lasagne. I always do, or salad.

Never Chips. That’s a lot of carbs.
