OH never opens food packaging properly - he rips it to shreds. Stabs butter foil in the middle, the same with yogurt or cream. This morning, bag of catfood - resealable bag - ripped through the side... i want to scream.

Clearly YANBU. But if I told you to LTB, I would be forced to leave my own DH, who behaves in exactly the same, utterly unreasonable manner.

girlmom21 · 29/04/2022 12:25

He sounds like an animal. Definite divorce.

EL8888 · 29/04/2022 12:27

Definite grounds. My partner does most of these things. Fine if the whole lot is going to be eaten in one sitting but it rarely is!

MardyOldGoth · 29/04/2022 12:27

I'm sorry to have to tell you this but you've married a psychopath.

This!

annonymousse · 29/04/2022 12:30

I divorced one of these. No regrets! (He was also a cheat and a liar)

HandInHandIsTheOnlyWayToLand · 29/04/2022 12:30

Clearly, you've married a raccoon....

Hugasauras · 29/04/2022 12:31

Oh dear this is me. I think if DH ever divorces me it will be for this reason Grin

And there is no training possible :(

Sad to admit I’m also a psychopath raccoon ☹️

Me too. It’s not wilful in my case, I try to open things ‘properly’ but they always end up looking like some kind of woodland animal has been at them with claws and/ or teeth.

DH mentioned it in his wedding speech, so it’s not like he didn’t know what he was getting into.

Raccoons have manners. Have you not seen all the videos of them scoffing food?

goes down the wormhole of cute raccoons politely asking for snacks

FranklySonImTheGaffer · 29/04/2022 12:36

Oh dear. I can be a bit like this - my coordination is rubbish though so I usually aim to do it neatly but can't pull it off.
I am generally apologetic though and I think that's the difference.
DH (affectionately I think) makes comments about it looking like a bear's been in the kitchen Blush

CatsArePeople · 29/04/2022 12:39

ok, i can understand that some packaging can be shitty, an using scissors is too much to ask... but what's the excuse to stab butter?

Also this 😂

sayanythingelse · 29/04/2022 12:43

This is my DH all over. He often opens bread (Warburtons paper bags) at both ends because he "forgot he'd opened the other end". WHY??

LunaAndHerMoonDragons · 29/04/2022 12:44

YANBUA to LTB over this behaviour, he's clearly narcissistic and doesn't care for anyone else's preference to not have food be damaged or fly everywhere.

torquewench · 29/04/2022 12:45

Urgh my ex did this. Couldn't even open a fucking chocolate bar wrapper that had explicit instructions ("pull apart here") or a pack of biscuits with the little ribbony thing at the top. Dirty bastard also mused to pick his teeth with said wrappers 🤢

Anonymum263 · 29/04/2022 12:46

We like fancy sourdough from the bakery, but DH cannot bear to have a smallish piece near the tapering ends. He cuts it right down the middle so he can have a big slice of bread. Also pretends not to know where anything in the kitchen is kept (that's a different issue but I needed to say it).

crowsfeet57 · 29/04/2022 12:48

OMG! My dh is exactly the same. The worst thing is wet wipes of any description, he rips the packet open, uses one and the rest all dry up and have to be thrown away. I can't tell you how many times we argues about this when the children were in nappies!

Mix56 · 29/04/2022 12:49

No actually I would divorce my H if he cut a loaf open in the middle, Just NOT happening in my house

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 29/04/2022 12:51

That would drive me insane!!

Weenurse · 29/04/2022 12:51

Mine does this, I blame his mother as she did the same. His father is normal.
DH also rips tin foil in half, if I have covered a plate to keep it warm, rather than peeling it off. I can’t re cover the same plate and have to get new foil to cover the leftovers for the fridge.

This happened yesterday. Floor wipes. I managed to rescue them with sellotape. Apparently he didn't find the opening...
