OH never opens food packaging properly - he rips it to shreds. Stabs butter foil in the middle, the same with yogurt or cream. This morning, bag of catfood - resealable bag - ripped through the side... i want to scream.

My dh could pick up a box with flashing arrows saying open here and he'd open it at the other end. Drives me mad!

Butteryflakycrust83 · 29/04/2022 13:30

I AM YOUR HUSBAND.

One of the biggest rows DH and I ever had was because I savagely tore open the pack of frozen blueberries which meant a couple spilled out into the freezer draw.

the80sweregreat · 29/04/2022 13:31

I was told once it was unlucky to open crisp packets upside down. Maybe that's why I haven't won the lottery yet.

lifesabitchandthenyoudie · 29/04/2022 13:32

@IncompleteSenten that is comedy gold!

I work with several people like this. Really upsets my chi. Fortunately for him my oh isn't.
Op I'll help you with your patio if you can all help me with mine? It'll be a large one...

Fraaahnces · 29/04/2022 13:32

Year him a new one. Teach him why it’s unreasonable behaviour.

Fraaahnces · 29/04/2022 13:32

*Tear….

Kitkatcatflap · 29/04/2022 13:33

Are you married to Captain Caveman?

Does he have opposable thumbs?

the80sweregreat · 29/04/2022 13:35

Worst thing in the world is cling film though
That was invented by someone who hates everyone and everything known to man.

BookFiend4Life · 29/04/2022 13:36

Leave him

BatshitCrazyWoman · 29/04/2022 13:36

Oh no OP. You are an absolute saint to have stayed with him. Honestly, if he was mine, he'd be gone. Stabbing butter?? What the actual fuck!

TigerLilyTail · 29/04/2022 13:39

IncompleteSenten · 29/04/2022 13:29

Every time he does it, roll up a newspaper and whack him on the nose with it while firmly saying NO

Yes!! Or rub his nose in it.

Maybe he secretly aspires to being one of those people on social media who transfers everything to tupperware tubs or jars.

You'll have to get him a label maker and see if he takes to it.

Doggydarling · 29/04/2022 13:42

My peeve is how dh digs the butter out of the dish instead of neatly and evenly scraping it from the top, he leaves craters behind (after buttering my toast and bringing it to me with a hot cup of tea every morning), I actually got a sharpy and wrote 'you're not Parker, stop digging' on the lid once cause he's a Goldrush fan, didn't help unfortunately.

Hankunamatata · 29/04/2022 13:43

Yep that would give me rage

outbackjulie · 29/04/2022 13:45

CatsArePeople · 29/04/2022 12:39

ok, i can understand that some packaging can be shitty, an using scissors is too much to ask... but what's the excuse to stab butter?

Hey come on, we've all had days where we want to stab some butter😄

YetAnotherSpartacus · 29/04/2022 13:45

I've trained mine. 😇

RealBecca · 29/04/2022 13:46

Cannot believe anyone actually does this, its beyond lazy and makes it difficult for everyone to use it again. Never heard of this.

BlackeyedSusan · 29/04/2022 13:48

Life is so much better now I am in charge of opening packets. The kids are starting to take after dad though. Angry

the80sweregreat · 29/04/2022 13:48

I stabbed open the little top off the milk the other day because it wouldn't budge
It still clung on for dear life at the edges too.

KangarooKenny · 29/04/2022 13:48

Get rid and free yourself from the irritation !

chisanunian · 29/04/2022 13:53

Does he squeeze the toothpaste tube in the middle?

user83657564 · 29/04/2022 13:53

I have one of these. I make sure scissors are available, and repeatedly and pointedly train the children how to open stuff. Kids seem to be on-side so far... It's that or label my own bags of stuff separately, I suppose.

Fireflygal · 29/04/2022 13:54

@AmyDudley, That's very funny.

OK, no way as bad as your DH but I struggle with packages openings.. not sure what I will do when dc leave home as they handle the tricky stuff maybe I will get stabby, 🤔

Monkey2001 · 29/04/2022 13:55

It is a man thing. Mine also opens new packets even if the open one is where it should be.

MarshmallowSwede · 29/04/2022 13:55

You’re very humane. I think if my husband did this I would have to explain his mysterious disappearance.

Mariposista · 29/04/2022 13:57

I am really territorial over butter too. No need to stab it. And as for leaving bread crumbs or jam/marmite smears in it…….
