He’s sat on his little desk and chair that he demanded with a bowl of fucking cereal that he asked for… and the book he couldn’t leave the car without.. but is still screaming/crying/tantruming…

what the hell is This torture

How do you make the noise stop?

Just wait it out. I used to play candy crush when my kids had a tantrum. They soon learnt that tantrums didn't work

bloodywhitecat · 28/04/2022 14:59

I hear you. Mine screamed for breakfast this morning then, when he got breakfast he repeatedly threw it on the floor and screamed some more. In the end I gave up, I took him from his chair and sat him on the floor where he happily ate breakfast. They are strange, trying creatures.

AryaStarkWolf · 28/04/2022 15:00

Ear phones?

BoredYummyMummy · 28/04/2022 15:03

Ah - noise cancelling earphones there’s a thought.

the wild toddler is now calm eating said cereal whilst stood up at the desk. The chair was the problem - got it

I would punish the screaming/crying if it didn’t stop. Usually by putting toys in the bin. Very effective and acts as a deterrent too.

I found it funny. The little size of the tiny, angry empress raging about the incomprehensible injustices in the world, such as yoghurt being runny.

Sciurus83 · 28/04/2022 15:05

Ignore ignore ignore.....run out the house as soon as Daddy walks in the door shouting "YOU'RE IT!"

You would put your 2 year olds toys in the bin?

Punish their inability to verbalise their feelings? Why?

DelurkingAJ · 28/04/2022 15:15

Mutter ‘we don’t negotiate with terrorists’ under you breath, try not to laugh (although better that you laugh than cry), and hold on tight as mine had episodes of utter unreasonableness until about 6.

PollyDarton2 · 28/04/2022 15:18

we don’t negotiate with terrorists no no noooo we don’t negotiate with terrorists! It was my wedding day, and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky…. Everybody now!

PollyDarton2 · 28/04/2022 15:19

Big Little Feelings on instagram OP. I swear by it.

This is the best answer!

PriestessofPing · 28/04/2022 15:44

Aww, it’s so trying! I recall the great biscuit tantrum my toddler had because there was only one left and it was broken in half. Absolute meltdown. He a teen now and just texted me to tell me he loves me so it does get better!

Bikesbikesbikes · 28/04/2022 15:53

Mine had a tantrum because he didn't like the flavour of my crisps 🤨

Also, because I wouldn't let him take cheese in the swimming pool.

Fml.

Of course it was the chairs fault!

🙄😬

life would be so much easier if our brains could understand these little gremlins. DS says his little sister is a gremlin/naughty puppy depending on what she is up to 🤷‍♀️

Mins was 9 before he would eat any broken food 😬

Maybe my 2 were unusual toddlers but putting their toys in the bin to stop them screaming would have made them scream and carry on louder and longer than ever. Definitely wouldn’t have been a deterrent- they wouldn’t have remembered the next time and would be too angry anyway.

BrutusMcDogface · 28/04/2022 16:05

Yeah, my kids would have ramped up the screaming if toys had gone into the bin…and I wouldn’t have blamed them! 🙄

That would just make the crying louder surely?
