To update about The Family Sex Show

There are active two threads on this in Feminism but I feel I just have to update here for traffic. Although protests appear to have, for now, stopped the theatre production going ahead, new and highly disturbing material has today appeared on their webpage, clearly aimed at children. It (cheerily and breezily) suggests, among other things, that children search for images of masturbating animals on the internet and then draw what they see. I am not going to Google that term, I really don't want that in my history, but first, can you imagine what children will be exposed to if they search that, and second, this is pure and simple grooming of children into being abused. Masturbating animals? What larks! Lets have an arts and crafts session about it! Next steps: Masturbating with Uncle Jim? Why not? Masturbating Uncle Jim? Of course!

I have now made a complaint to CEOP. Others may wish to as well.

Fucking hell.

That's awful.

Toponeniceone · 19/04/2022 18:34

I really hope something comes of this.

EarthSight · 19/04/2022 18:35

@ickky

I saw this on Glinners email.

You would not believe it unless you have seen it.

So not only paedophilia, but bestiality is also now being promoted by them too.

Thank you OP for reporting.

@ickky

Yes - this is going down the bestiality route. They are absolutely brazen their grooming attempts. Paedophiles and sickos everywhere will be delighted.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 19/04/2022 18:37

One would hope that after the masturbating animals etc a few people who were previously for giving the benefit of the doubt to the organisation on the grounds of it being creative/educational/freedom of expression might think again

You would indeed hope so, but it's much more likely they'll transfer their allegiance to the next torchbearer for abuse and insist that, while the current bunch might have been ill advised, the new ones are "completely different"

They might even hope folk would forget what they said at the time, but fortunately many have good memories

Terfydactyl · 19/04/2022 18:41

@EddyF

What parent would take their child to this? What is their aim? Who are the founders of the website/company?

Are schools/libraries participating in this? It is so bizarre to the point it can’t really be real?

Yes I think someone on one of the other threads said the same. It's so unbelievable no one will believe us. Sometimes over in the naughty corner (fwr) we mention MAPs and people dont believe us then either. Minor Attracted Person for info, have a scoot around Twitter, they openly call themselves MAP or NOMAP (non offending minor attracted person) and discuss the childs age that they would just love to have sex with.

In fact just come over and see if theres anything else we discuss that is unbelievable, you'll be amazed.

I've been thinking about this a lot. At first I was fairly sure that the theatre company were young and misguided, and I thought that the basic idea could be quite good for ages 16+.

Their total refusal to just put up the age limit (even to 13+) coupled with the weird babyish language ("perhaps you'd like to draw a picture" of a masturbating animal???) has made me realise that very young, prepubescent children are absolutely core and central to this performance.

Smileyaxolotl1 · 19/04/2022 18:42

For those who don’t go on the feminism boards, what is even more concerning is that the group behind this show are going into schools teaching sex Ed.
Quite a few schools in Greenwich for anyone who lives in that area.

theDudesmummy · 19/04/2022 18:43

@OmIndeed

When you put "masturbating animals" into a search engine you are not necessarily going to get the same results as someone else. Depends what else has been looked for on the search engine.

And the distinction between "examples" and images is no doubt one they are well aware of having made, they may well point to this in their own defence if necessary. The problem is that they then go straight into suggesting making drawings. Yes, they (slightly) cleverly don't say in so many words to draw the animal actually masturbating but the juxtaposition of the ideas makes it pretty clear. Is an eight year old going to think, oh right I need to look up animals masturbating on the internet, but not images of them, and then draw images of them not masturbating?

That isn't even the main pont though. The idea the writer of this perverted material clearly has is that an adult is going to be looking through the suggested activities and guiding the child in them. And it looks like a fun worksheet, and everyone is familiar with working through worksheets of suggested activities, we spent six months doing it every day in the lockdown ffs. So the child goes happily along with what the adult (who may not on his own have come up with the wizard wheeze of chatting about monkey masturbation with an eight year old) suggests. All such fun.

There is a disclaimer that their Podcasts are "currently spaces for young people (maybe 16+ (but really that's up to you) )"

The transcript of the 'pleasure' podcast thefamilysexshow.com/pleasure talks about vaginismus and gives us this....

And to be honest,
When it was in,
I didn’t feel that much better
Because just having something in you
Won’t always lead to pleasure -
But hey, I got it in
That’s step one,
And that’s great,

and...

I thought perhaps
Maybe I was broken
Perhaps penetration was not for me
Too much pain in pursuit of pleasure
They don’t teach you this in school,
Diane -
A pain so sharp
That you start to see stars
But I was told there’d be fireworks,
Diane.
I can always find pleasure in other places,
I guess -
Soft strokes here and there
Or a long hard kiss
Fingers that linger in particular places
A hand that moves slowly down my spine
Hips and thighs
Or maybe something small
Something fast
A surprise
A quick bum squeeze

and...

This pain that I feel
I won’t feel it forever
You’ve given me knowledge
And knowledge is POWER

That's all I've read. I'm sickened.

higherthanthat · 19/04/2022 18:49

@Rococococo

Everyone’s different and will have different things that feel nice to touch for them! If one day, you don’t want to be touched in a particular way, that’s absolutely okay. You decide what feels good for you.

Surely the normal safeguarding message for children is that nobody other than a doctor should ever touch them on an area that would be covered up by a swimsuit/swimming trunks? Whether or not it ‘feels good’ doesn’t even come into it.

Absolutely this! A child should not be encouraged to think that s/he tells (his/her abuser) 'I don't want you to touch me like that again, (insert name of adult abusing her/him here), touch me a different way instead.'

These people are planting the idea in a young child - the language is clearly aimed at young children - that they should be engaging in a sexual conversation with someone else about how they should touch them!

Instead it should be this: Children need absolutely black and while messaging about what is and isn't appropriate adult behaviour, irrespective of whether it feels OK at the time

addler · 19/04/2022 18:50

This is actually fucking terrifying. How is this being seen as anything other than dangerous and abusive to anyone?

When is this going to stop- at what point will people say it's too far or too much, and how many children are going to be harmed before then?

I feel like I'm living in a twilight zone, that not every single person, who isn't themselves a child sex abuser, is outraged by this.

Nah what the fuck! In such plain sight as well, not even bothering to try and disguise it.
Dinosauria · 19/04/2022 18:53

Draw a picture of a animal that likes to have a wank.

Imagine this in schools. This is not progressive it is perverse

Fearnecuptea · 19/04/2022 18:53

Wow I found that site deeply disturbing - the language is like that from a preschool book, but then they mix in completely inappropriate subjects. Reading it as an adult is so bloody odd- constant mixing of young child and adult content.

I know they're trying to be "arty" and presumably changing societies narrative on nudity (or some shit) but completely missing the mark, actually in weird, gross territory.
The "go look up animals mastabating on the internet, see what you find, lol" type comment that was there was so... stupid? Or like others have said maybe it is blatant grooming and I'm being too lenient on the people instigating this whole sorry charade!

The show is created by Thisegg, who from what I can tell is just a small theatre production company founded by a woman that's won quite a few credible awards a few years ago but that means fuck all really...

theDudesmummy · 19/04/2022 18:55

It is almost like they are taunting us now. And by "us" I basically mean anybody who is not a child sex abuser or an enabler of such.

It is so bad and so blatant i even wondered if it could be a "reverse" designed to highlight the dangerous rise of PIE in modern form. But given that this now in my mind at least on the border of actual criminality, I suppose that is unlikely.

...and the constant, constant de sexing of the body, inviting kids to search for pro nouns etc. Just fuck off, leave children alone.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 19/04/2022 18:59

They are absolutely brazen their grooming attempts. Paedophiles and sickos everywhere will be delighted.

I'm going to be fair minded here and say that between the praise for DQS in libraries, community activities such as Rainbow dildo butt monkey, and shows such as this, as per the spiegel article, there are genuinely conflicted adults who are unable to navigate their way between ideological freedom, the ulitimate welfare of children, politically motivated abuse, and CSA. People are so terrified that they might be repressed bigots who are harming their children through prudishness and wrongthink that they've turned off their brains and innate moral instinct.

Does what happened in a number of the Kinderladen qualify as abuse? According to the criteria to which Catholic priests have been subjected, it clearly does, says Alexander Schuller, the sociologist. "Objectively speaking, it was abuse, but subjectively it wasn't," says author Dannenberg. As outlandish as it seems in retrospect, the parents apparently had the welfare of the children in mind, not their own. For the adherents to the new movement, the child did not serve as a sex object to provide the adults with a means of satisfying their sexual urges. This differentiates politically motivated abuse from pedophilia.

Actually I don’t object to the play dough genitals. I remember colouring in diagrams of genitals as part of sex Ed at school, and I think this is something similar. For 13+ of course.
They don’t seem to have done any reflecting at all.

Not fully. From the BBC link:

The company said there would be performances for an invited audience at The Egg in Bath.

theDudesmummy · 19/04/2022 19:01

@Hippopotas Please read the thread. The show is cancelled (for now), the website has gone from bad to way way worse. That is what I have reported to the police.

OP posts:

And we have no idea who the "invited audience" in Bath will be.
