To feel disappointed we paid so much for this accommodation

We booked a month in advance and paid 220 euros a night. Photos and reviews were good; but we got a studio with 2 beds in the living room, one enclosed in a box/partition; street view and construction side next door. Not breakfast, not additional facilities, one bathroom. We are 4 people

Have you got the details of what you booked?

So 1 bed apt with breakfast included etc?

If you don't have what you e got then you can negotiate a move to what you booked or can get a significant if not full refund.

Holidays27 · 13/04/2022 12:15

It is called flattered to be in Porto

Will post the link

where are you - and what were you expecting?

bloodywhitecat · 13/04/2022 12:16

What were you led to believe you'd booked?

IsDaveThere · 13/04/2022 12:16

Did the photos look like the accomodation that you got? Did the details state that breakfast was not provided and there is only one bathroom?

Floralnomad · 13/04/2022 12:17

What did you think you had booked

Thestagshead · 13/04/2022 12:17

Surely you looked at the facilities and if it was breakfast included before booking? Fifty odd euros a night each seems very reasonable to me.

Whats the issues you have?

Holidays27 · 13/04/2022 12:19

The photos are very misleading as there is no bedroom or ocean views

OP posts:
Rainbowshine · 13/04/2022 12:20

The listing is clearly for an apartment for 2 people, when I go to it.

Thestagshead · 13/04/2022 12:20

I don’t understand are you saying you booked and paid extra to have sea view and breakfast included and they haven’t given you it?

Or you elected not to book that and thought you’d get it free? Your post isn’t clear.

What is clear though is you’ve booked a self catered apartment cheaply and the facilities are clear.

Thestagshead · 13/04/2022 12:21

@Holidays27

The photos are very misleading as there is no bedroom or ocean views
But you need to book that. Did you book a seaview apartment with bedrooms and breakfast?
IsDaveThere · 13/04/2022 12:21

To be honest, you can clearly see at least one bed in the living room (is it a fold down one?) and it does say recommended for 2 adults, not 4. Neither does it say that breakfast is included so not sure why you are disappointed about that.

ExMachinaDeus · 13/04/2022 12:22

It's a one bedroom flat - how did you think 4 people could fit?

Holidays27 · 13/04/2022 12:22

We were not expecting breakfast but we thought we had a least one bedroom and the other one in the living room. We were not expecting 2 beds in the living room. We also thought we had ocean views but got a street view with noise and cars passing by all the time

I only got to photo 27 of the 45, but looks like 3 different bedrooms in those photos!
One with a skylight window, one behind a sliding screen and another different one, and not just different angles!

Gowithme · 13/04/2022 12:22

I guess it depends where you are, if you're in the middle of a very expensive city then it can be very expensive to stay anywhere.

ExMachinaDeus · 13/04/2022 12:23

The info you link to says "Recommended for 2 adults"

itsgettingweird · 13/04/2022 12:23

The photos are very clears it's various apartments and when you boom to select a room it's also clearer because there's various options.

Some have separate rooms and some use that pullout bed too.

Also the options have breakfast included or pay at property.

Do you have the details there if what you've booked?

MartinMartinMarti · 13/04/2022 12:23

It’s a one bed apartment, and the photos clearly show the bed in an alcove not a totally room.

The listing says nothing about breakfast being included, and it says that SOME of the apartments have ocean views, others have city views.

YABU.

Thestagshead · 13/04/2022 12:24

But why would you think that? The options at booking are very clear. You have booked the cheapest option possible without those things, of course you weren’t going to get them.

Anomalocaris · 13/04/2022 12:25

Everything you describe is shown in the listing!

Stokey · 13/04/2022 12:25

It's quite hard to judge the layout from the photos but you can definitely see one double bed in the "box". It is described as a 1 bedroom apartment though so would expect more than a studio. I don't think you can do much about the construction site - those fine and go - but I'd raise a complaint with Booking.com about the 1 bedroom/studio aspect. Can you cut your losses and find somewhere else? Good to have in mind what you want to achieve by complaining - refund, alternative booking - before you start the process.

Holidays27 · 13/04/2022 12:25

I also seem to remember seeing a swimming pool in one of the photos.

We should have looked properly but the reviews were exceptional
