To feel disappointed we paid so much for this accommodation

We booked a month in advance and paid 220 euros a night. Photos and reviews were good; but we got a studio with 2 beds in the living room, one enclosed in a box/partition; street view and construction side next door. Not breakfast, not additional facilities, one bathroom. We are 4 people

OP, are you sure there is more than one apartment?

It looks to me as though this is just one apartment with different configurations depending on how many people you say you're booking for. So for example, if you say you're booking for a couple, they wouldn't get out the pullout bed and you'd have more living rooms space, whereas if you say you're booking for four people they use the pullout bed.

If there's only one apartment then obviously it's misleading to say some apartments have sea views if it doesn't.

As for breakfast, it appears to be an option that you can include or not.

Have a look at your confirmation email and check whether it mentions the sea view or breakfast.

We had a similar experience once in Menorca , misleading pictures , studio with 3 beds and a ‘slight’ partition, rather than 1 separate bed , plus sofa bed in lounge and as we had our teenage son with us it was totally not suitable - we demanded a move and got a nice 2 bedder!! We never ever when booking apartments book 1 bedders these days , always 2 bedders minimum or houses —

Costacoffeeplease · 13/04/2022 14:35

Is this a repeat thread? I’m sure I read something similar with a different title this morning

StellaAndCrow · 13/04/2022 14:39

"1 bedroom with a double bed

1 double bed in the living room

1 single bed in the living room (not available unless booked in advance)

Dining room and kitchenette

1 Bathroom"

To me that suggests a separate bedroom.

ChickenyChick · 13/04/2022 14:42

studio means no separate bedroom

That's the definition of "studio".

A studio apartment is a one-room apartment (often kitchen/living/bedroom all in one with separate bathroom)

KarmaStar · 13/04/2022 14:42

It's as described.
Says some have street views some have sea views
Beds as described.
It's cheap.looks clean,modern.
I'd make the most of it.
😀

This review would’ve made me contact the owner for further information about the room set up.

This.

If there is no separate bedroom then they are falsely advertising a studio as a one bedroom apartment.

In answer to your question OP - no, I don't think you are unreasonable to feel disappointed. I think they've charged a lot for arty styling, and that the photos and descriptions are at least misleading, if not incorrect.

I hope you enjoy your holiday despite this, and maybe in the future have a laugh about the time you paid to sleep in a box . . .

Holidays27 · 13/04/2022 14:52

Thanks everyone. We are not going to let it spoil our holidays. We live and learn. We booked in a rush as we were very busy. Should have researched and read property all the reviews. Photos can be very misleading; we saw a photo of a bedroom and since it says one bedroom apartment we expected a proper bedroom

garlictwist · 13/04/2022 14:53

I think 220 euros a night is insanely expensive for a studio!

StellaAndCrow · 13/04/2022 14:54

I think even with research it would have been hard to figure out, I do wonder whether they mean it to be so confusing! Your expectations based on the booking site were very reasonable.
Enjoy your holiday.

babyjellyfish · 13/04/2022 14:55

Honestly OP, I think you're getting a hard time on here.

I think the ad is deliberately misleading and I would be annoyed too.

WombatChocolate · 13/04/2022 14:57

Good decision Op.
The myriad of interpretations on here show how easy it is for customers to get different ideas/sellers to describe in ways which can be vague and open to interpretation.

Enjoy your hols.

tkwal · 13/04/2022 15:05

Quite clearly described in booking.com. 1 bedroom. 2 large doubles. Says beach side not sea view. No breakfast....not sure what more you expected ?

Gizacluethen · 13/04/2022 15:09

This is why I never book without a floorplan or room description.

There isn't a bedroom.
Bookworm20 · 13/04/2022 15:16

Its very misleading. even looking at the photos it gives the impression of a double bed in a bedroom and one in the living room. I can only now see its a double bed in a box thingy once you've explained.
That to me on first looking looks like a bedroom.

I would definitely complain, and also it says sea view, which you don't have.

220 a night for that is expensive.

Holidays27 · 13/04/2022 15:17

I think they definitely want to confuse and mislead people with the photos and advertising a one bedroom apartment; however they are saying they have done nothing to deceive us.

OP posts:
Holidays27 · 13/04/2022 15:21

There are lots of apartments in the building; some with sea view, some with street view; maybe a few with a proper bedroom. We certainly got a studio with a box in the middle

OP posts:
babyjellyfish · 13/04/2022 15:23

Well what does it say in your confirmation email, OP?

Tiddlesthecat · 13/04/2022 15:26

I found all the photos confusing as they had lumped them all together.

OfstedOffred · 13/04/2022 15:26

Unless the option you selected was very clear that there was no proper bedroom (only a partitioned space), yanbu. The photos don't make it clear that it's a studio apartment without a fully separated bedroom.

If actually there were a range of options and you booked the smallest/cheapest and that's what you got, yabu.

SoupDragon · 13/04/2022 15:32

It is quite clearly listed as "one bedroom apartment with sea view"
