To switch off the power at 10pm tomorrow night

Just seen this on Instagram.

I’m at the stage anything has to be worth it. Il probably do it, it’s just as I go to bed anyway so why not.

I’m not suggesting it will solve the issue, but might piss a few people off?

Anyone else?

I've seen about 10 different dates and times posted, and I'm not on social media, so I can only imagine there's loads more.

Seems pretty pointless in the main part, and very impractical for lots of us too.

OutingHobby · 09/04/2022 20:04

Why turn it off when you're asleep?! And why is the month just cut and pasted in like that. Seems weird and like something someone posted for a laugh.

DebussytoaDiscoBeat · 09/04/2022 20:05

The only person I'd be pissing off by turning off all my power would be me. I really don't want to be resetting the clock on my oven again after battling with it two weeks ago when the clocks changed.

Newnormal99 · 09/04/2022 20:06

No idea if Spain ever did this or not and double it cases powers usage to change in anyway but cannot imagine it would make any difference whatsoever.

A580Hojas · 09/04/2022 20:06

PMSL! When did Spain do this? can you link the story?

LouLou198 · 09/04/2022 20:06

What about your fridge/freezer? I would end up having to throw out a lot of food.

Duracellbunnywannabe · 09/04/2022 20:07

How would that made a difference?

Newnormal99 · 09/04/2022 20:07

This is such a load of bollocks OP, sorry. Loads of diff nonsense times all over social media.

gamerchick · 09/04/2022 20:09

No. Fridges don't like to be turned off and reptile tanks don't either. What's the point of doing it overnignt when most things are off anyway?

grapewines · 09/04/2022 20:09

Social media bollocks every other month.

Yes! I swear oven clocks are the bloody worst.

I'll be working then so definitely not.

This link talks about Spain and tomorrow night, but it doesn't seem well publicised at all! Also I don't really see what difference it would make.

Good point!

Plus the ice-cream will melt and the fire alarm wouldn't work

HollowTalk · 09/04/2022 20:11

Am I stupid? I can't understand how if everybody in the whole country turned their electricity off then prices would go down. What is the connection between those two things?

Narwhalelife · 09/04/2022 20:12

I think it’s only meant for 10 minutes (probably should have said that). Didn’t think of the oven clock 🤣🙈 maybe not then!

FAKE NEWS!

Spain did not do this. Ffs

Narwhalelife · 09/04/2022 20:13

@HollowTalk I think the idea is to show there is power in the people, if we didn’t use it they lose a lot of money.

How is me switching everything off for 10 minutes at 10pm going to make the energy prices go back to what they were 3 years ago?

DanielRicciardosSmile · 09/04/2022 20:15

Cross posted. Still makes no sense though.

nannynick · 09/04/2022 20:19

Power use drops around that time anyway. Gas powered plants would adjust to supply demand. If there was excess power on the grid then pumped hydro may run the pumps sooner than usual.
I can't see how it would make a significant difference.

I dont see how it would make any difference at all.

@OutingHobby
Surely your alarms gave batteries in them???

Itsbackagain · 09/04/2022 20:23

No won't be doing this.

They are wired in? Like a proper blaring loud one

SoupDragon · 09/04/2022 20:24

might piss a few people off?

Yes, me mostly. No one not in my house would give a shit. 😂
