To write my neighbour a letter

They’re not a next door neighbour think number 85 and 65 type neighbours.

We’ve lived here 4.5 years, obviously in 2020 started walking lots. Noticed that on their front garden wall (the one which joins their garden to their next door neighbour) is a boot. A womens shoe. This was in 2020. The boot is still there.

WIBU to write an anonymous letter asking them what their intention is with this boot? It’s a black, suede ankle boot with a 2 inch heel. We only spotted it cos we thought it was a cat (lockdown led us to going cat spotting on our daily walks ffs).

Wtf? 😂

What do you want them to do?

Why anonymous?

TellMeItIsntTrue · 08/04/2022 19:45

We need a diagram

PostingForTrafficz · 08/04/2022 19:45

Just pick it up on your way past and take it home and bin it.

Unsureaboutit9 · 08/04/2022 19:45

If it’s anonymous how will they reply? And why do you care what will happen to the boot? Maybe just push the boot off the wall and see if they put it back up! Don’t no if that will help but I’d be interested to see what they did

Setthescenes · 08/04/2022 19:46

LTB.

(Leave the boot)

PunchMunch · 08/04/2022 19:47

What's the point of writing it anonymously? They can't let you know the answer if they don't know who has asked.

There was a random pair of muddy Adidas bottoms in my yard wall a few years ago, they stayed there for weeks and then just vanished again. I wasn't touching them because the crotch part would probably fall on my face as the wall is taller than me.

Probably wasn't them that put it there and they are hopeful the owner will come back one day 😂

Cultureclub · 08/04/2022 19:47

They're elderly and an anonymous letter will scare them so I wouldn't bother.

gettingolderandgrumpy · 08/04/2022 19:47

The boot is on the wall ? Maybe they think person will come back for boot when passing or not . I guess I’d probably move it after a while but it’s not doing me any harm so why not .

Mangogogogo · 08/04/2022 19:47

I would need to move the boot and observe

EmbroidedFlowers · 08/04/2022 19:47

Maybe they've left it there for the owner to collect Grin

VyeBrator · 08/04/2022 19:48

A letter like that would creep me out.

Cherrysoup · 08/04/2022 19:49

Get a photo!

tearinghairout · 08/04/2022 19:50

Put a plant in it.

Sapphirejane · 08/04/2022 19:51

@Cultureclub how do you know they are elderly? Do you have an inside scoop on the boot?

HarrietSchulenberg · 08/04/2022 19:51

An anonymous letter is weird. Is there a reason you can't knock on the door and just ask in a friendly manner?

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 08/04/2022 19:51

Where does it say they’re elderly?
HappyAsLarry2022 · 08/04/2022 19:52

So you have an old boot that you can add? What about putting a little plant in their boot? Sounds like fun to me

Unsureaboutit9 · 08/04/2022 19:52

Are you the boot neighbour?
KineticSand · 08/04/2022 19:53

The posters saying elderly think the house numbers are ages.

HappyAsLarry2022 · 08/04/2022 19:53

*do you have an old boot to add to the other one?

FloraPostePosts · 08/04/2022 19:53

Watch the episode of Inside No 9 called Diddle Diddle Dumpling, then leave them, and the boot, alone.

PutinIsAWarCriminal · 08/04/2022 19:55

I like the idea of putting a plant in it. I bet there is a bit of an in joke in the family about it, which is why its been there so long. Sneaking around at midnight to fill it with compost and pansies would be fun.

Creameggs223 · 08/04/2022 19:58

Why does it bother you?

InFiveMins · 08/04/2022 19:58

Why would someone keep a boot on their wall for 2 years Confused

MySecretHistory · 08/04/2022 19:59

I have had a Childs hat on my wall since January
I didnt put it there- I assume it was dropped and someone picked it up
The child may come back
