To ask for shows like Miranda

Briefly · 04/04/2022 23:54

Life is difficult at the moment and Miranda has been getting me through it. Only problem is I'm running out of episodes. Is there anything like it out there?

Perhaps it's very unreasonable to think anything similar exists.

Not as 'silly' as Miranda (or even similar in any way!) but have you seen Motherland?

Fleabag
Not going out
Fawlty Towers (old but gold!)
Parks and Recreation
Dead to me

Few ideas, hopefully.

SuperSocks · 05/04/2022 00:02

It's not like Miranda but 'Ghosts' is my go-to when I'm feeling low. It's brilliant.

frenchfancy81 · 05/04/2022 00:04

Ghosts is absolutely brilliant- love it!

Rodion · 05/04/2022 00:05

Not quite the same but has that air of cheerful silliness despite all the murder - Jonathan Creek.

frenchfancy81 · 05/04/2022 00:06

The IT Crowd makes me chuckle, too.

Briefly · 05/04/2022 00:06

Thank you so much. Please keep them coming!

I remember loving To the manor born and Yes minister, the oldies are great.

Best line ever in Ghosts.... When she is talking to them outside, next to the car. The husband says he'll call someone.

She says "who are you going to call?"

Absolutely brilliant 😂

gingerhills · 05/04/2022 00:11

Fleabag is brilliant but very sad as well as funny.

Ghosts is great.
Witless (about two incompatible women in witness protection) is hilarious.
Black Books?
Father Ted
Parks & Rec
Kimmy Schmidt

JocastaElastic · 05/04/2022 00:15

Chewing Gum and Drifters are both very cheering.

Tobacco · 05/04/2022 00:17

Modern Family

Briefly · 05/04/2022 00:18

This is awesome, thank you.

Maybe Outnumbered? Not Going Out has some of the same breaking the fourth wall (and Miranda in the early series!), but I don't think the later series are as good.

I don't know how easy it is to get, but I enjoyed Life In Pieces, which is an easy American family sitcom.

I also think Ghosts is great.

thingymaboob · 05/04/2022 00:22

Modern family
Parks & Rec
Frasier (been binging this on all 4)

Ohdofuckofdear · 05/04/2022 00:22

Grace and Frankie is fabulous, and lots of episodes, so lots to enjoy, great escapism!

AiryFairy1 · 05/04/2022 00:30

Space force
The good place
Brooklyn 99
(All American, and on Netflix)

TangledUp789 · 05/04/2022 00:31

A few of these have already been mentioned, but I'd recommend Black Books, Not Going Out, House Of Fools, The IT Crowd, Father Ted, I'm Alan Partridge, Mr Bean, Count Arthur Strong, Keeping Up Appearances and The Vicar Of Dibley. Like Miranda, they're all quite silly, with lots of physical comedy, and all filmed with a live audience.

Whatup · 05/04/2022 00:32

I just restarted the blacklist and just finished severance on apple tv+ its a decent thriller and im saving foundation for when im hungover. Elementary is a good tv show if you couldnt get enough of sherlock. Acorn tv has more murder mystery shows than i thought was possible and 5 on demand has hannibal. Youtube has lots of foreign historical dramas.

Sapphireskies · 05/04/2022 00:32

Uncle is hilarious

Sapphireskies · 05/04/2022 00:36

Also two doors down

Keepitonthedownlow · 05/04/2022 00:36

Was going to add Vicar of Dibley and Father Ted
