To ask for shows like Miranda

Life is difficult at the moment and Miranda has been getting me through it. Only problem is I'm running out of episodes. Is there anything like it out there?

Perhaps it's very unreasonable to think anything similar exists.

@NigellaLawdaughter "Schitt's Creek has been on my list, and
now it's bumped up urgent! hahaha!"

You won't be disappointed Grin. It gets better with every episode.

Definitely Outnumbered and Friday Night Dinner.

I do have a hankering to watch The Good Life again, too

Lemonyfuckit · 05/04/2022 20:19

I second Friday Night Dinner - has me in stitches.

Not really the same in that it's not a silly comedy per se, more a very gentle comedy drama, but something we particularly enjoyed watching because it's really warm and feel good, so might also meet the need of something to pick you up / distract you at a difficult time is Stella (there's loads of series too so plenty to binge on) - written by and staring Ruth Jones and just so well written / observed / acted, highly recommend.

Lemonyfuckit · 05/04/2022 20:24

@LouLou198

Friday night Dinner has had me crying with laughter. Derry Girls is also really good.
Yes I forgot to say Derry Girls has me similarly in stitches to Friday Night Dinner.

American so not similar to Miranda in some ways, but warm, very silly funny, and loads of series:
Brooklyn 99
How I Met Your Mother

Both series for when we've watched something gritty like a crime drama then need something short and easygoing before bed (or just tired and need to binge something lighthearted)

StrawberrySanta · 05/04/2022 20:25

I'd say Not Going Out is fairly similar to Miranda. We love Friday Night Dinner. The Inbetweeners and Gavin and Stacey are pretty good to re watch too

KateTheEighth · 05/04/2022 20:31

Superstore

Sugarbellaella · 05/04/2022 20:37

Derry Girls is my absolute go to if I’m feeling blue, failing that Friday night dinner or Modern Family.

The unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is also a mood lifter

gingerknobs · 05/04/2022 22:53

The chair - Netflix - loved it!

frenchfancy81 · 05/04/2022 22:59

The Job Lot is great

londontonyc · 05/04/2022 23:12

Catastrophe!

Dressperate · 05/04/2022 23:16

Superstore - so funny and the characters are brilliant, a perfect mix of smart, daft, sweet, sarcastic etc. I absolutely love it.

I also adore Derry Girls, as a '90s NI teenager myself 😄

Feeling prepared for every future traumatic life event as well now. It's wonderful.

Also recommend Schitts Creek, I've binged the lot in about a month, so sad that I'm on the final season!

Yoloohno · 06/04/2022 00:03

I’ve found my tribe, I totally agree with a lot of the suggestions especially Friday night dinner, this country, two door down.

I’m going to try the young offenders on ds recommendation, he has my sense of humour and I’ve introduced him to most of these.

redfairy · 06/04/2022 00:06

Zomboat about two couples escaping a zombie apocalypse on a Birmingham canal boat showing on ITV is brilliant. It got a bit buried with Covid. Also a big shout out for Raised by Wolves.

intwrferingma · 06/04/2022 19:00

@Potterbore

Not silly funny but The Detectorists is very light and gentle viewing
I know what you mean about the Detectorists. But also it is kind of funny. Almost every scene where the rival group pitch up is funny. Either way it's the ultimate soothing view
JoanWilderbeast · 06/04/2022 19:37

Voted YANBU for missing feel good TV Drama. I am fed up of maverick detectives and endless remakes of "The Classics". I don't like the term chick lit, but there is a treasure trove there of potential which I can only presume is not deemed "cool" enough for the people in charge of commissioning.

tintodeverano2 · 06/04/2022 19:39

I've just watched all of the series of 2point4 children and one foot in the grave on the iPlayer. They have loads of box sets on there at the moment!

Mommabear20 · 06/04/2022 21:38

Vicar of dibly
Nurse Jackie

intwrferingma · 07/04/2022 07:45

I gave up after two episodes of Schitts Creek. Reading this thread thought it seems I should have persevered

EsmeSusanOgg · 07/04/2022 07:57

Ghosts is great. Also really enjoyed the new period sitcom Witchfinder on BBC.

I've also been enjoying Superstore on Netflix.

Darkstar4855 · 07/04/2022 07:59

Dinnerladies is my favourite warm and funny UK show.

Superstore is a very funny American show with loads of episodes that’s currently on Netflix.

LadyMacduff · 07/04/2022 08:02

I worked my way through Only Fools and Horses on Netflix after a bereavement.

Also just rewatched all of Miranda a few weeks ago. It's great.

Polyanthus2 · 07/04/2022 08:02

I never got into Dinnerladies - somehow the speech always seemed rehearsed (which it was but shouldn't come over that way). Just tried to be too witty imv every sentence had to be funny. When I'd have preferred less comedy and more development of the characters and story.

WalrusSubmarine · 07/04/2022 08:08

Ghosts
Yonderland (even sillier than ghosts)
Bill (the film - even sillier than ghosts and yonderland)
Detectorists
Upstart Crow
