To ask for shows like Miranda

Briefly · 04/04/2022 23:54

Life is difficult at the moment and Miranda has been getting me through it. Only problem is I'm running out of episodes. Is there anything like it out there?

Perhaps it's very unreasonable to think anything similar exists.

Death in paradise… murder with sunshine and upbeat music. Dozens of disposes to watch if you start from the beginning.

gingerknobs · 05/04/2022 09:27

Episodes!

Two doors down
Mum

Thanks for the inspiration- am currently isolating- so these are very helpful!!

Beefstew · 05/04/2022 09:31

My Family is a favourite here , as is
Carshare

It's not a comedy drama but Taskmaster can be absolutely hilarious. Just got into it lately.

hangrylady · 05/04/2022 09:31

Just remembered Phoenix Nights. How could I forget!

Hadenoughofbloodycovid · 05/04/2022 09:34

Two doors down………bloody hilarious.

Georgeskitchen · 05/04/2022 09:54

Mandy
Short 15 minutes episodes , they will be on BBC catch up
Laugh out loud stuff.

OatmilkandCookies · 05/04/2022 09:57

Still Game is my favourite when I need a laugh!

Gowithme · 05/04/2022 10:06

@JocastaElastic

Chewing Gum and Drifters are both very cheering.
Just watched the trailers and love the look of these especially Chewing Gum!

@JulesJules

Oh yes, someone else has recommended the Detectorists, it's wonderful. Definitely watch that if you haven't already.
Came to say this too! It’s the most wholesome programme I’ve watched and really had us laughing too!

Have to say, I think Schitts Creek is massively overrated. We persevered but can’t say it really made me laugh, more a little “heh” every now and then!

jay55 · 05/04/2022 11:23

Call me Kat is the American remake of Miranda, it's totally different but just as silly.

Also Corner Gas on Amazon is funny and daft with a nice heart. Lots of episodes and a movie.

LittleGwyneth · 05/04/2022 12:20

Another vote for Ghosts. Later series are less good than the first one but it's lovely gentle telly. And you can't go wrong with The Good Life.

crumpet · 05/04/2022 12:23

Parks and Recreation

Comedycook · 05/04/2022 12:28

King Gary

Theworkhouse · 05/04/2022 12:37

Has anyone mentioned The Chair on Netflix. I binge watched it, it's funny and has good characters. Loved it.

ChristinaRussell · 05/04/2022 12:38

A PP was wondering where you can watch Rosemary & Thyme: the Drama channel often shows it so if you register with UKTV Play you can access their free on-demand service. (If it's not Drama then it might be ITV3, in which case it'd be on the ITV Hub)

In a similar vein to Black Books is Spaced, with Simon Pegg. I loved that.

Mimijamroll · 05/04/2022 12:51

I agree Ghosts is brilliant and also Black Books and Spaced (which I watched for the 1st time last year and didn't seem dated) . Green Wing , a medical comedy, very daft and silly.

I also love League of Gentlemen, though it is a v black comedy.

SuperSocks · 05/04/2022 19:43

@Jumpjumpjumper

Best line ever in Ghosts.... When she is talking to them outside, next to the car. The husband says he'll call someone.

She says "who are you going to call?"

Absolutely brilliant 😂

I know! Imagine if they hadn't thought to write that line until it was too late! They'd have been kicking themselves!
SuperSocks · 05/04/2022 19:44

@gingerknobs

Episodes!
Episodes is fab! Been trying to find it somewhere I can rewatch it recently but not having any luck!
MurmuratingStarling · 05/04/2022 19:46

Not a fan of that, but something along similar lines, (a silly/funny/oneliner type sitcom show) is Not Going Out. It's really funny. Give that a go if you haven't already. Smile

Also The Good Life, Dear John, To The Manor Born, One Foot in the grave....

theemmadilemma · 05/04/2022 19:49

Another vote for Schitts Creek.

You'll never see cherry blossom the same again...

Potterbore · 05/04/2022 19:49

Not silly funny but The Detectorists is very light and gentle viewing

sleepyhoglet · 05/04/2022 19:50

Also, not funnt but comfort watching I would recommend all creatures great and small

Weirdwonders · 05/04/2022 19:54

Stath Lets Flats, especially series 1, is an underrated slapstick gem. I laughed so hard at that series.

StupidUsernameUnavailable · 05/04/2022 19:56

Not Going Out. The early ones with Tim Vine are absolutely hilarious.

Fleabag.

Motherland was too close to home for me and just left me with an overall feeling of anger! 🤣
