My 16 year old has been a HUGH HP fan since she was old enough to read the books and watch the films, she watched the reunion,I didn't as I do not agree with how JKR has been treated for speaking up about her views which I share.Dd has wanted to go for years and because she has worked so very hard for her GCSE exams i thought I'd treat her,but morally i feel like a turn coat.
Yabu- you should boycott all things HP
Yanbu- it's for your Dd and she'd love it

I must be missing something but why would you boycott Happy Potter if you love JKR?

use257 · 31/03/2022 11:07

Harry*

Theunamedcat · 31/03/2022 11:08

Just go

Blackbirdflyintothelight · 31/03/2022 11:08

I would absolutely still go and still enjoy all things HP.

musicalfrog · 31/03/2022 11:09

HP is still JKR's right?

Darkstar4855 · 31/03/2022 11:11

Am I missing something, why would you boycott her work if you agree with her?

SantaHat · 31/03/2022 11:12

Huh? Surely it would be supporting JKR to go to HPW?

Vegansausageroll · 31/03/2022 11:12

Surely supporting HP is more likely to show support to JKR?

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 31/03/2022 11:12

As sole creator, JKR gets a cut of HP stuff and that funds a lot of her charitable activities and philanthropic giving. She was very savvy I believe over the rights to her intellectual property.

katienana · 31/03/2022 11:12

She was a the premiere of the latest film and her name is very prominently associated with it. Maybe you could write a trip advisor review in support of JKR after you've been.

SeptemberAlexandra · 31/03/2022 11:14

Take her and enjoy it.

Tink626 · 31/03/2022 11:14

I don't understand your logic at all here. If you agree with her why are you thinking of boycotting her?

AgnesNaismith · 31/03/2022 11:16

By going you will be supporting JKR as others have said. Do not worry OP!

VestaTilley · 31/03/2022 11:17

YANBU - don’t boycott HP, it’s JKR’s creation!

I bought another set of HP books to show my solidarity. Go to HP World - I hope you and your DD have an amazing time.

GoFishandChips · 31/03/2022 11:18

Erm, she gets tons of money from the franchise as far as I'm aware. Went to the Photographic exhibit and there were pictures of her and videos praising her vision.

urbanbuddha · 31/03/2022 11:20

She's the one coining it in if you go, surely?
Go often.

araiwa · 31/03/2022 11:22

Have you missed out some information as it makes zero sense Confused

FOJN · 31/03/2022 11:24

Surely it would support JKR if you went?

Lochroy · 31/03/2022 11:27

I'm also confused by the logic 🤷‍♀️

Weirdwonders · 31/03/2022 11:28

She profits from the tour!

SallyWD · 31/03/2022 11:28

I'm also confused as to why you'd boycott this if you support JKR?!

FusionChefGeoff · 31/03/2022 11:29

I'm intrigued as to why you think NOT going to something created and owned by JKR would be going against her?!!! What have I missed?!

LindaEllen · 31/03/2022 11:31

My god, JKR has done nothing wrong. You and DD will enjoy the tour - don't cut your nose off to spite your face when a) you don't disagree with anything JK has said and b) JK hasn't even bloody said anything even remotely deserving of all the vile hatred she's got over it.

Go. Enjoy. Don't get caught up in internet hype - particularly not woke BS.

NearlyHeadlessNick · 31/03/2022 11:33

I'm confused, why would boycotting it show your support for JKR?
Take your daughter and enjoy.

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 31/03/2022 11:33

I wonder if the OP thinks it might signal support for the theatrically-restricted quislings that play the Hogwarts pupils?
