My 16 year old has been a HUGH HP fan since she was old enough to read the books and watch the films,she watched the reunion,I didn't as I do not agree with how JKR has been treated for speaking up about her views which I share.Dd has wanted to go for years and because she has worked so very hard for her GCSE exams i thought I'd treat her,but morally i feel like a turn coat.
Yabu- you should boycott all things HP
Yanbu- it's for your Dd and she'd love it

@DrSbaitso I don't understand why you think I've banned JKR books from the house? I didn't say that? I enjoyed them, for what it's worth, and I liked the films. I just don't like her. And I'm quite aware of Roald Dahl's antisemitism, thank you, and I haven't banned his books but I have talked to my children about it - as a matter of fact, in the context of why I don't want to ban JKR's books from the house, even though I find her views abhorrent too. What a weird comment for you to make.

I was about to explain it (although I think it was pretty clear the first time), but as I was typing, I suddenly ran all out of whatever fuel you need for this kind of pointless ongoing exchange and, not wishing to derail this into one of those, I'm going to allow it to rest here.

@WilsonMilson

You’re overthinking this entire issue, just go and have fun. Life doesn’t always have to be so complicated.

Also, refusing to watch a film because someone who’s view you don’t agree with is in it seems a bit ott. In fact your reaction to this entire issue seems rather excessive.

I agree with this. You are making this incredibly complex. Have you checked out the moral credentials of all the actors and screenwriters on all the films you watch and on all issues? No, probably not.

@DrSbaitso totally fair enough - as it goes, I'm actually not at all interested in a debate on the rights/wrongs of JKRs opinion, just wanted to offer up the OP a viewpoint that might make her feel better about going even though she's got issues with WB - because I think it's a really good day out so seemed a shame that her kid might miss out.

Strange reason to choose not to go on a day you with your child.

Go if you want to, or don’t. You are ridiculously over thinking it.

I really have no time for JKR for many reasons, but if we go to London we will do the HP tour because my daughter would enjoy it. It wouldn’t occur to me not to.

@MarvelMrs

I think you shouldn’t let your stance of JKR rob you of precious time with your DD. I say this as a mum of three older teens who are growing up and I treasure any time with them. Life passes too quickly to let celebrity issues affect your family relationships. I would also watch the films for the same reasons despite completely understanding your reasons for not doing so. The younger cast are happy to bite to the hand that fed them especially since they are not the most skilled actors. But your own DD should always come first.
She agrees with JKR. So no stance to rob anyone of anything.

Weirdly, it actually tastes exactly how I always imagined Butterbeer to taste, except not quite as thick.

Ugh. Your imagination hates you! Grin I honestly still feel queasy remembering the butter beer. Such a let down. Sad

Haha! I thought it tasted like cream soda done very, very right!

Root beer is disgusting!

Hmm. To me they’re very similar (root beer and cream soda) and I love them both. Interesting.

Strange how taste buds vary.
