Today is last day before prices go up. So if you don’t have a smart or pre pay meter remember to do readings and submit them today. As late as possible :)

Yes I need to do this today! Got an email from BG requesting it.

I was going to ask if people on smart meters need to do anything? Sounds like a dim question but I don't really know how they work.

If you are on a fixed rate do you still need to read your meter? Surely the price will be the same tomorrow as it is today? #askingforafriend!

Depends how frequently the mater sends readings, it can vary between a few minutes and much longer. If you're unsure you can always give a reading manually to your provider.

If it's fixed then it should stay fixed so no, no need.

It seems that despite the providers being aware that their sites would be inundated with people trying to submit meter readings they haven’t ensured that they could deal with the increase in traffic.

No joy submitted a meter reading (British Gas). Managed to login but meter reading functionality not working.

Anyone who can't get a reading submitted make sure you take pictures of the meter today so you have time stamped proof in case you need it.

That's great advice - I've been trying to submit mine but Scottish Power website not functional.

@Zeldaaa I had the same problem but managed to get it done after a couple of goes.

I also had a text message from British Gas asking for a reading, not sure if it was legitimate or not.

EDF say they were doing maintenance on their site

SSE are currently saying:
Sorry, we’re working on this part of our website

Yup, british gas not working at all.

I had to persevere with BG but did succeed. Disconcertingly they asked if I was sure about the gas reading as it didn’t seem right- no idea why. It was correct.

As earlier, take pictures with your phone that will be timestamped in case of any discrepancies.

Thanks @ididntevennotice but what if I just didn't send it in? I send one in early March actually, when I upped my direct debit to the amount they said it would be.

What is the worst that could happen if we didn't send it in?

I know. I have been trying since I posted on this thread. Can't do it. WTF am I meant to do? I can't spend all fucking day on there. I have to go out.
