Today is last day before prices go up. So if you don’t have a smart or pre pay meter remember to do readings and submit them today. As late as possible :)

What is the worst that could happen if we didn't send it in?

it means the usage since your last meter reading in early March will be charged at the new April rates.

@StrychnineInTheSandwiches Oh thanks so much! I won't worry as much now. I only sent the last reading in on 9th March. I got the new prices (the old price plus 50%!) and I took a reading and sent it in, and they sent me a bill which outlined my usage for December to March. So I should only be charged the higher price for an additional 3 weeks.

EDF say they were doing maintenance on their site
there's apparently a number you can call and give them via an automated service. I don't know what the number is but a quick Google will find it for you.

EDF website and chat function is very conveniently "down for maintenance". Coincidence? I doubt it.

If you're on a variable tariff they'll just average your usage over the two months your bill covers so you might pay an April rate for energy you used in March

Yeah everything is down!!! I can't access even OLD meter readings. Hmm

Fucking annoying and bloody STUPID that they have told EVERYONE in the COUNTRY to submit a reading on the SAME DAY!!! Hmm

As I said though, I only sent a reading in 3 weeks ago, so hopefully I won't be affected much if I can't get one in today. Stupid system!

I wonder how many people have not sent a reading in for 6, 7, 8 months or more?!! THAT would be a reason to worry.

Most energy companies don't want you to. It's Martin Lewis telling everyone to do it so you don't get overcharged with the massive price hikes

Quite bizarre really. Millions of people who have never before cared about what energy tariff they're on, accurate billing or saving energy are losing their minds because the price is going up.

Yes it's a good idea to take a reading today. But if you can't submit it today, send it tomorrow, or at the weekend, or whenever. It might make a few pence difference to your energy bills but its a small price to pay to avoid spending the entire day trying you get onto the same website as millions of others.

I've taken a photo of mine (even though it's a smart meter).

British Gas is all over the place right now, the app hasn't worked properly for the last couple of months so I don't rate their chances at getting this right. Can't log in as the website's down so at least I have proof.
