AIBU to want to know if there is anything that ACTUALLY gives the 'false lash effect'

My eyelashes are the opposite of Marilyn Monroe. I know she got the effect from falsies, but I can't seem to get the knack of putting them on in less than 10 minutes and it feels like something is in my eyes when I wear them ...
One usually falls off halfway through the day.

I've tried an 'eyelash growth' serum but didn't notice much difference.

I tried one mascara where you first put on white fibres, then the black mascara... It stung my eyes and then my eyelashes looked grey...

I sometimes wear mascara but when I do, it usually clumps and smudges.

What have you used that magically gave you thick, long lashes?

Then I watch the next advert, get sucked in that THIS is the holy grail - but no, just another clumpy mascara.

Eyelash extensions

Highonlovingyou · 09/03/2022 19:09

Maxfactor 2000 calorie mascara.

GooglyEyeballs · 09/03/2022 19:09

Yep eyelash extensions is the only thing that I think actually works.

LolaSparkle · 09/03/2022 19:09

Eyelash extensions :)

DobbyTheHouseElk · 09/03/2022 19:11

Get your eyelashes tinted, then use mascara. The tip of eyelashes are fair.

Htotheizzo · 09/03/2022 19:12

Lash extensions ruined my real lashes. I get a very good false lash effect from Maybelline Lash Sensational, best I've used so far.

YellowAndGreenToBeSeen · 09/03/2022 19:14

I use Rapid Lash serum every night (it takes about a month to notice a difference), curl them with the Surrat curler and use any old mascara (currently the new Maybeline).

I have very long, curled upwards, lashes.

Campervangirl · 09/03/2022 19:17

I wouldn't recommend eyelash extensions, I had them for ages and when I had them taken off I literally looked like I had 6 of my own eyelashes left on each eye, took ages to grow back.
I hate to plug Younique (mlm) but they do a 3d mascara, two tubes, one is a mascara and the other is fibres, Its good but I seal it with my own mascara or I get fibres under my eyes. You can buy it a lot cheaper on ebay, worth a try

Unsure5679 · 09/03/2022 19:18

I would highly recommend a lash lift and tint. Won’t destroy your natural lashes and they look amazing. Curl them every morning and tiny bit of mascara on the end of my lashes and I’m good to go.

CookPassBabtridge · 09/03/2022 19:19

I use magnetic lashes/eyeliner. I bought a pair 6 months ago and have worn them pretty much every day since, think they were £20/£25! Appy in 30 seconds.

SheWoreYellow · 09/03/2022 19:20

Tubing mascaras don’t smudge. The L’Oréal and no 7 ones are fine. You need warm water to take them off.

Shesmyperson · 09/03/2022 19:22

I use this www.spacenk.com/uk/makeup/eyes/mascara/faux-cils-mascara-longest-lash-MUK200007505.html

Its expensive. But the eyelash serums don't work for me. But this does. Its a really good mascara from the first use. Didn't clump or anything. But I would say after about 10 days (I wear make up about the days out of 7) I could see my eyelashes have definitely grown. I get compliments on my lashes all the time now.

ohhooh · 09/03/2022 19:25

Eyelash extensions definitely do! A lash lift can work too.

With the serum, did you use it for long enough? I use revitilash - it takes 6 weeks to see the effects (I'd say I saw it from about week 5!).

RandomBasic · 09/03/2022 20:03

I think I gave up after about a month with the serum.

The magnetic ones felt like I had wellies on my eyes. They felt ginormous. What brand do you use @CookPassBabtridge ?

I like Clinique Naturally Glossy, but then I probably don't even want a false lash effect 😄.

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 09/03/2022 20:05

I don't have any eyelashes so I live in falsies.
Recently tried the magnetic ones which I think worked a bit better than the glue, but then you've got the liquid liner look so maybe not an every day thing

SliceOfCakeCupOfTea · 09/03/2022 20:06

I do remember being told to always hold your mirror down when applying mascara to avoid clumps

SexyLittleNosferatu · 09/03/2022 20:06

You have to use the eyelash serum every day without fail for about 12 weeks. It does work. It's expensive but it will work if you stick at it.

SexyLittleNosferatu · 09/03/2022 20:06

Which ones do you use? I bought lolas lashes and found them useless.
RandomBasic · 09/03/2022 20:07

What's a lash lift? Is it like a facelift? Some sort of surgery?

I've had extensions but at £30 a pop I have used them for special occasions only. Also when I swim (about once a week), I usually get water in my goggles somehow and that fs them up.

I get a lash lift every 6-8 weeks, think they kind of perm the lashes and tint them, amazing result even without mascara. Costs about 30-40 pound, takes about 45 minutes.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 09/03/2022 20:12

I have lash extensions now because I'm a lazy mare.

Before that, either Max Factor False Lash Effect or Maybelline Sky High. Out of the two, Maybelline has the best effect for me.

So perm them to curl like with eyelash curlers?
