AIBU to want to know if there is anything that ACTUALLY gives the 'false lash effect'

My eyelashes are the opposite of Marilyn Monroe. I know she got the effect from falsies, but I can't seem to get the knack of putting them on in less than 10 minutes and it feels like something is in my eyes when I wear them ...
One usually falls off halfway through the day.

I've tried an 'eyelash growth' serum but didn't notice much difference.

I tried one mascara where you first put on white fibres, then the black mascara... It stung my eyes and then my eyelashes looked grey...

I sometimes wear mascara but when I do, it usually clumps and smudges.

What have you used that magically gave you thick, long lashes?

Then I watch the next advert, get sucked in that THIS is the holy grail - but no, just another clumpy mascara.

I wouldn't recommend eyelash extensions, I had them for ages and when I had them taken off I literally looked like I had 6 of my own eyelashes left on each eye, took ages to grow back

I don’t really understand this. Lash extensions are attached to your real lashes so they wouldn’t be there without your real lashes?

Anyway, I stopped getting extensions when my eyelids started to get a reaction to the glue.

Wondering now if I should go for a lift and tint?

The BEST mascara I've ever tried (and I've tried hundreds of all different budgets) is a cheap Rimmel waterproof one. Never clumps, never smudges and gives a really lengthened effect.

Nightmare to revive though as it's totally waterproof!

Ardell False Lashes Duralash Individual Naturals Knot- Free, Combo Black https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0017ZTV0W/ref=cmswwrcppapiglttiNS9DJF8R2AGAX6XX41RS

I really like individual lashes, Lisa Eldridge has a great video on how to apply:

I’m a lash tech. Lash extensions are great but require upkeep (infills every 2-3 weeks). If applied and removed correctly they shouldn’t damage your natural lashes, however people do find they feel like their lashes are non existent after taking them off because there’s such a difference!

I’d recommend a lash lift and tint. It’s a 3 step process which basically perms your lashes so leaves them looking longer, thicker and lifted. Results last for 6-8 weeks and you don’t have to do any maintenance except for keeping them dry for the first 24 hours.

thedefinitionofmadness · 09/03/2022 20:34

megabucks but Revitalash is amazing, no difference for 6 weeks then all of a sudden amazing.

also a tint.

CowsAreNotGreen · 09/03/2022 20:34

Don't sleep on your front if you have just had a lash lift

stealthbanana · 09/03/2022 20:35

DEFINITELY a lash lift. Magical.

HereLiesBetelgeuse · 09/03/2022 20:38

I get a lash lift and tint. Its great, lasts about 6 weeks for me. Its essentially a mini perm that holds the lashes in the same shape an eyelash curler would give you. I really recommend

HunterHearstHelmsley · 09/03/2022 20:42

I have short stubby lashes and I've never found a lash lift to be particularly great.

browneyes77 · 09/03/2022 20:43

I use WowCombo Mascara.

You do need to get it off with a bit of warm water, but it’s waterproof, so doesn’t smudge and gives my puny short lashes amazing length!

I do also use Lottie London Superfake Mascara, which is nice for day to day (and not expensive!).

The WowCombo I use when I need something waterproof and want a bit more effect for a night out.

Both are Vegan and Cruelty free mascaras

Thatsplentyjack · 09/03/2022 20:43

@Gobbledygoo

Eyelash extensions
Yup. Novalash. Top ups every 3 weeks.
TheReddestJohansson · 09/03/2022 20:46

Revitalash.
Benefit primer.
Benefit “They’re Real” mascara.

I literally have people in shops ask me if my lashes are real. I’m v low maintenance - I couldn’t manage to maintain extensions - and only wear tinted moisturiser and mascara. I started using revitalash after asking a lady in a shop about her lashes - it’s worth sticking with!

Yes, mine are short and stubby, so I can't see a lift helping much. They are already dark, so no tint needed.

I bought uk lash serum. Not cheap but lasts about 4 months. Has made a huge difference -
Have longer and more lashes

Indoorcatmum · 09/03/2022 20:55

PLEASE try revitalash. It lasts 6 months and I honestly don't wear mascara anymore, I just tint my lashes. I would rather give up just about every other luxury before it haha. A tube lasts 6 months so I realised that it isn't any more expensive than buying three tubes of mascara. It is my holy grail!

Unforgettablefire · 09/03/2022 20:55

Benefit “They’re real” amazing mascara just be careful buying from eBay there’s a lot of fakes. Another really good one is Youniqe.

KylieCharlene · 09/03/2022 20:55

I use eyelash curlers, put on Maybelline Great Wear (pink/green tube) then curl again when the lashes are dry.

Rainbowshit · 09/03/2022 20:56

Lash lift and tint. Makes an amazing difference.

I was allergic to Revitalash, it made my eyes incredibly dry and sore.

I think LVL lashes is the thing I find most effective, I just don't often get time to have the treatment. It is really noticeable on me though as I have fine, fair lashes naturally.

StCharlotte · 09/03/2022 20:58

I use a combination of these two and a friend whose daughter is a lash technician asked me if they were false. The dark Collection one is Superdrug's own brand I think.

The best mascara ever was Max Factor Stretch but the bustards discontinued it.

Sorry, a combo of which two?

I bought a small bottle of black 'fluff' off Groupon about 12 years ago (I know, I know, no help!) but you brushed on your mascara, brushed on the fluff (which was very fine and used a mascara wand) and then finished with another coat of mascara. Bloody brilliant stuff! Really lengthened and thickened my lashes, far better than the magnetic lashes that I've tried.

Apologies for being a bit less than useful but if you see anything like that for sale, I recommend it!

Shuffles back into my cave...!

givemeallthecheese · 09/03/2022 21:11

All those recommending the revitalash... anyone got any before after pics you'd like to share? It's expensive but I feel like I'm ready to be influenced 🤣

FlyLikeABird29 · 09/03/2022 21:12

Benefit ‘Roller lash’ or Benefit ‘they’re real’ are both amazing and combined are even better!
