Dirty undergarments

Where does everyone put their dirty underwear that need washing? I wouldn't put it in wash basket with the rest of my clothes. I ask because I let mine pile up (weekly) and then put in for a wash as they don't get washed with any other clothing. What I have been doing is putting them in a medium sized laundry mesh bag, that I leave in the bathroom, not in open apparent space. But if you look around well enough, you will be able to spot it!
My issue is having to move it when we have workers round (boiler is in the bathroom) or even guests. Our downstairs bathroom is quite far from the living room so our guests unfortunately decide to go to our family bathroom upstairs as it's much closer. Just annoys me that I have to move it any time someone comes over. We've had 3 workers in the last 3 week that required work in the bathroom.
It got me thinking where do people put their underwear that need washing.

In the washing basket with everything else. Is that not right?!

watchingrnfire · 03/03/2022 23:46

@JohnLapsleyParlabane I don't know what undergarment in the mormon sense is, but I mean normal underwear, which is an undergarment in essence as it's worn under clothing(garment)

Why are you boiling your pants?

RoseslnTheHospital · 03/03/2022 23:47

My DH separates his pants from the rest of the laundry as he likes to wash them at 60. He has a separate smaller laundry basket for them, in the bedroom. It's not rocket science surely?

@Bunty55

Sometimes the questions on here make me question my own sanity
Nah they make me realise I’m normal 🤣
XenoBitch · 03/03/2022 23:48

@Clymene

Why are you boiling your pants?
Makes a great stock.

Yeah, that is gross Grin

watchingrnfire · 03/03/2022 23:50

@RoseslnTheHospital yeah that's genius if I want it in open space.

Anyways never mind. I'll just continue my way and move it when need be.

Are you looking for graphic descriptions of soiled undergarments, op?

"open space"? It's a bedroom, not the Serengeti. Bedrooms are much less likely to be explored either by visiting relatives or work people in your house.

RosesAndHellebores · 03/03/2022 23:53

The black ones go in with a dark wash of socks, tights, pants, Jim Jams, etc and get a prewash in the machine at 30°. The light ones go in with DH's hankies and other lights at 60°.

Nat6999 · 03/03/2022 23:54

We both have a mesh bag in our bedrooms that go in the washer with everything else. The underwear is washed & dried in the mesh bag & then the owner puts their clean underwear away. That way there are no odd sock or socks lost between bedroom & washer.

How is your bedroom "an open space" FFS??

Mamamamasaurus · 03/03/2022 23:57

Do your genitals do something to your 'undergarments' (you could just say 'pants' or 'knickers' etc) that mean that they need to be blasted at 60° and done separately to all your other clothes.... Some of which they've been in contact with? Do you also separate and separately wash your trousers / skirt / lowerwear? That has been in co tact with said undergarments.... Where does it end?

fallfallfall · 03/03/2022 23:57

two threads at the moment regarding dirty underwear....

LegArmpits · 03/03/2022 23:59

Don't be weird 😂😂

Iwantmyoldnameback · 03/03/2022 23:59

Ok I'll play. Why don't you get one of those divided baskets that say lights and darks and put your underwear in one side and everything else in the other. Or use detol laundry stuff if it really bothers you.

TellMeMoreHellebore · 04/03/2022 00:01

What washing detergent do you use?

MissMaple82 · 04/03/2022 00:01

🤦‍♀️

Alliswells · 04/03/2022 00:02

Thread on the nightwatch about this thread is hilarious

DaphneSprucesPippasClack · 04/03/2022 00:04

All washing goes in the laundry Hamlere together... Its just underwater!

Icanflyhigh · 04/03/2022 00:04

Err in the wash basket with everything else.

We only have "boiler workers " once a year and I'm buggered if I'm doing a separate washing rota to accommodate them!!!

viques · 04/03/2022 00:05

Is this a very subtle poo troll thread?

GoogleWhacked · 04/03/2022 00:07

This is one of those bat shit MN threads that makes me think I must be a compete slattern, but then I realise that it's MN that's barmy!

MadAntonia · 04/03/2022 00:08

Seems washing underwear separately is s good idea:

Furries · 04/03/2022 00:08

I operate in the same way as some did with regards to shopping during peak covid. All underwear gets quarantined in the garage for at least a week.

I ensure that appointments for workmen visiting the house are timed for when said underwear has come out of quarantine and has been cleaned. That way, I can prance around in freshly laundered bra/knickers - and feel happy in the knowledge that said workmen are not seeing dirty underwear.
