I tend towards slatternity so I didn't realise this was A Thing Shock

Luckily it's only high days and holidays nowadays, so it's not as though Id be ploughing through the Bold on Bed sheets. Wink

It's this another MN requirement where I come up wanting?

YABU: wash em straight away you grim creature.

YANBU: Meh, wash Em on the normal processing time, no need to rush.

let's do it like they do it on a king-size flannel'

@KimchiWithMe

I don't stay in bed long after sex (I assume the 'soiling' relates to semen dripping back our?!) I strategically roll out so my undercarriage doesn't touch the sheets and go straight to the toilet anyway.
Yes, this! The toilet is a very short walk from my bed (en suite- not always popular with MNers but I love it). Engage the pelvic floor while walking to the loo and no wet patches or drips are left anywhere.
fleurpots · 23/02/2022 10:21

@SmallPrawnEnergy

I'm flabbergasted at all this 'wetness' getting everywhere! I think I can remember once when there was any 'spillage' of any kind and it was a tiny patch.

Poor you. But at least you’re confident enough to admit you have terrible sex I suppose, if you’re not even wet enough to create a “tiny” patch. Perhaps your husband can read a few books?

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 🤣🤣🤣🤣 if you thought this would offend you were very wrong!!!

Time to start practising your kegels, small prawn. You do know most of the fluid is meant to stay in your vag, right?
JollyAndBright · 23/02/2022 10:24

We wash the sheets once a week,
If we changed them every time we had sex we’d be washing bedding every day.

Bumpsadaisie · 23/02/2022 10:25

Good lord no! We usually have sex twice a week I'd say so way too much bed changing.

Mind you we use condoms most of the time so there are not usually any fluid issues.

If it is on or around my period we don't use condoms and the post coital sheets can look like a war zone with the various ... erm ... fluids ... so I would wash in that situation, if the sheets were really rank.

A spot of two of blood or other .. fluids ... no wouldn't bother.

books? Books about what, drainage? Bed gutters?

Hmm

katepilar · 23/02/2022 10:33

I didnt realise that its something some people do. There is something about washing the bed sheets that I dont understand.
I thought this was going to be about how ofter do you change sheets . I dont understand why people wash their sheets as oftern as once a week. But then I dont understand why people go to bed unwashed. And I iron my bed linen and dont like to do it all that often eventhough I enjoy ironing.

JuliaSways · 23/02/2022 10:36

Not every body works exactly the same. Making fun of people who need to use barriers to protect their mattress and equating it with porn-style sex, really? Are we not adults, do we have to resort to teenage boy humour?

Anyone reading this thread who does "squirt" (vile term IMO, but in itself is natural for some women without their partner having to use porn-esque moves) may well already feel ashamed or dirty - there is no reason to, every vagina works a bit differently and there are extremes, some are dry and need lube whereas others are naturally extra wet, some people have experienced birth trauma or may have bladder issues. Use your brains, don't shame others for their body working in a different way to your own, its puerile and ignorant.

Wash your bed sheets as often as you like, but don't shame others who have different experiences than yourself. It's childish and makes you look a bit stupid.

Cocogreen · 23/02/2022 10:37

@SmallPrawnEnergy is just exhausted from all the bed changing and sheet washing which is why she seems so mean...

@DomesticatedZombie I looked this up and now I am utterly destroyed 🤣😂🤣
Baileys123 · 23/02/2022 10:37

Ok so for those who have tagged me again to insult me just cuz I do things differently than yourselves...I just prefer not to have to sleep in stained bedding and in case any of my young children need settling in my bed in the night...I dont want them having to lie in it...yes it doesn't leave much mess but it leaves some and if allowed to dry it leaves a stain still. It takes a few minutes to change and can be tumbledried so no massive job. Why is this so alien to so many. The question was asked I just answered. Some of you need to realise how hurtful the comments have been to me and really upset me. I had to have some of them removed. Disgusting behaviour from grown women.

betwixtlives · 23/02/2022 10:39

Why the shocked face? Is that some kind of jusgement about how often other people have sex?

Er, yes it is! A couple that hasn’t had sex for (at least?) 3 months isn’t normal

DomesticatedZombie · 23/02/2022 10:40

Aw, Baileys, I'm sorry. I just thought this thread was light hearted. Hope you're okay.

ChipButtyCurrySauce · 23/02/2022 10:40

Just checked Amazon - it's currently out of stock. Mumsnetters have been busy with the credit card this morning

@OchonAgusOchonOh also sold out on Love Honey! £109 though!! 😳

MenopauseSucks · 23/02/2022 10:40

My sheets get changed once a fortnight regardless! There's a mattress protector & it gets changed with the sheets.
Back when I had periods, I'd have a towel nearby to put on the bed last minute, otherwise the sheets would look like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre...

'normal'

Yo, people differ. It's no big deal. HTH

ChipButtyCurrySauce · 23/02/2022 10:44

We don't change the sheets each time. Quite often we'll put a bath sheet towel down. If not we'll clean up with husbands T-shirt or pants. Sometimes a sock. 🧦 🤷‍♀️

Depends what age they are. In their 20s unlikely. In their 60s highly probable. There’s no such thing as normal.
ChipButtyCurrySauce · 23/02/2022 10:45

I've never nominated a thread for classics before? How do we do that??

GenderCriticalTrumpets · 23/02/2022 10:45

This thread is ace! Snapping the bed sheets lollll

I'm in the do not change them camp. Unless there's been a spillage, but this is easily combated by my cupping my fanny and army rolling out of bed when going straight to the shower*. V attractive my husband is v lucky.

*I have to have a shower straight after or cystitis.
