Bought a delicious looking ginger and pear cupcake earlier.

Not a mention of the fact there were fucking raisins in it 😡 the little dried buggers just ruin delicious food.

Hot cross buns? Ruined.
Christmas pudding? Ruined.
Christmas cake? Ruined.

100% correct OP

KaptainKaveman · 21/02/2022 20:26

Wrong! What would life be like without stupendous sultanas and ravishing raisins?

Mum2jenny · 21/02/2022 20:27

Sultanas and raisins are ok by themselves, but not in real food.

Sexnotgender · 21/02/2022 20:28

So much better! Never again would I buy a delicious looking cake only to find dried up little bits of bloody fruit scattered throughout.

100% spot on.
WHY ??
Just why would you want to put dead flies in food.
Even worse when they sneak them in to otherwise yummy food you wouldn't expect to find them in.
I mean, you can avoid a hot cross bun.

AmbushedByCake · 21/02/2022 20:29

I remember the heartbreak of being offered a 'chocolate chip' cookie that turned out to be fucking raisin. Sad day.

catinboots123 · 21/02/2022 20:30

Nope I love a sweet curry filled with dried fruit mmmmmmm

Littlemissprosecco · 21/02/2022 20:31

💯 agree, they should be banned

KaptainKaveman · 21/02/2022 20:31

You're all raisin hating bastards Angry

SunnyCoco · 21/02/2022 20:32

Absolutely right!

Piccalino3 · 21/02/2022 20:32

You are 100% correct OP!

HeadNorth · 21/02/2022 20:32

YABU - I love dried fruit and as far as I am concerned it enhances everything.

HomeHomeInTheRange · 21/02/2022 20:32

Certainly anyone who puts sultanas in a curry or raisins in a salad needs their fingers amputated.

But I think you have to concede Christmas Pudding and Fruit Cake, recognise that dried fruit has claimed that territory and revert to a pavlova and yule log.

DappledThings · 21/02/2022 20:33

Nope. Love them. Fruit cake is a joy. Ginger and pear sounds like a great combination and raisins would be excellent in that.

Bloballbovish · 21/02/2022 20:33

How does dried fruit ruin the hot cross bun? They're the crucial ingredient. Without it it would just be sweet bread. Ditto for Christmas cake and pudding, they wouldn't exist without dried fruit.

Anyway YABVVVVVU because dried fruit is the nectar of gods: mince pies, Eccles cakes, hot cross buns, sultana bran, muesli, sultana and currant cake, the list is endless. I'd rather give up chocolate than dried fruit.

TheUnexpectedPickle · 21/02/2022 20:33

Sultanas are ok on a scone.

But when you find them in a curry unexpectedly... urgh.

See also cheese with random fruit in. Gross.

Can I also add that this current trend for putting mango or pomegranate in a salad can fuck off into the bin.

Summerhillsquare · 21/02/2022 20:33

Nooooo, bring me sly cake, fat rascals, Chorley cakes, and Welsh cakes all day long!

Pumpfive · 21/02/2022 20:33

I love dried fruit, especially in a hot Cross bun.

LadyPropane · 21/02/2022 20:34

I don't mind them in something that has a high enough liquid content that they plump back up a bit. But anything dry is really disgusting with dried fruit.

jay55 · 21/02/2022 20:35

Little black currants, lovely.
Squishy sultanas, work of the devil.
Dried apricots, should be illegal.

MikeandDave · 21/02/2022 20:35

I love dried fruit and find it extremely disappointing that it is now no longer considered the healthfood I grew up with due to the high natural sugar content.

tiredanddangerous · 21/02/2022 20:35

Correct apart from mince pies. Mince pies are the only acceptable vehicle for dried fruit.

Thighdentitycrisis · 21/02/2022 20:36

YABU because Christmas cake and pudding (not to mention mince pies) basically ARE dried fruit with a little binding agent Smile

Beamur · 21/02/2022 20:37

I hear you with the cupcake. Raisins in there is just rude and inappropriate.
But Christmas cake/pudding and hot cross buns! YABU.

Waitwhat23 · 21/02/2022 20:37

Absolutely foul, shriveled things. Grapes? Yes. Raisins? No.

To think dried fruit is shit and ruins everything.
