To think dried fruit is shit and ruins everything.

Bought a delicious looking ginger and pear cupcake earlier.

Not a mention of the fact there were fucking raisins in it 😡 the little dried buggers just ruin delicious food.

Hot cross buns? Ruined.
Christmas pudding? Ruined.
Christmas cake? Ruined.

@LemonViolet

I am ON the fucking fence.
So am I really. Banana chips rank. Also dried blueberries are equally horrid. Dried apricots in tagine- good but eating them as a snack-no. No to Dried Fruit as a snack.
Happy36 · 21/02/2022 23:32

YANBU. The number of times I've been fucked over by tabbouleh.

CounsellorTroi · 21/02/2022 23:33

YABU. Welsh cakes. Enough said.

ThinWomansBrain · 21/02/2022 23:33

Love raisins in my porridge - but overnight oats, so they are juicy and succulent.

Had nice cheese hot cross buns from M&S - not a raisin in sight

ThinWomansBrain · 21/02/2022 23:35

The squirrels in my local park adore dried cranberries.

LemonViolet · 21/02/2022 23:38

@CounsellorTroi

YABU. Welsh cakes. Enough said.
Ohhhhhhh. Good shout. Well that’s put the raisins amongst the squirrels.
violetbunny · 21/02/2022 23:38

Raisins are truly awful.
I love that Rude Health have a muesli called "No Flamin' Raisins". It's otherwise pretty impossible to get a muesli without the darned things.

Don't even get me started on the abomination that is fruit cake Envy

AdaColeman · 21/02/2022 23:39

Maybe if you tried a slice of Lardy Cake or a Singin’ Hinny you’d be converted to the deliciousness that is dried fruit?

Amongst my favourites are dates stuffed with marzipan, chocolate covered raisins, a layer of rum soaked raisins at the bottom of a pot of chocolate mousse.
And in other dishes, apricots in Coronation Chicken, or the delight of finding a glacé cherry in your slice of Genoa Cake!

appleturnovers · 21/02/2022 23:42

Wtf have I just read???!! Why are so many people so wrong??!

Hot cross buns? Ruined. DELICIOUS!
Christmas pudding? Ruined. THE FOOD OF THE GODS. THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY YEAR
Christmas cake? Ruined. LOVELY

Not to mention, malt loaf, Eccles cakes, mince pies, fruit scones... the list of heavenly foods goes on and on. Do fig rolls count too? Because they are divine. Or, if we're feeling posh, a nice pain-au-raisins... who could possibly object to that?

Even humble muesli, (never has enough dried fruit, so I usually add my own on top).

Comefromaway · 21/02/2022 23:44

Dreadful things. Raisins, sultanas, currants. They are all the same and ruin good food.

LemonViolet · 21/02/2022 23:45

🤢🤢🤢🤮🤮🤮

DreamTheMoors · 21/02/2022 23:45

@Sexnotgender

There’s a reason they’re called cinnamon raisin buns. And they’re delicious.

PickAChew · 21/02/2022 23:46

How could hot Cross bins be hot Cross buns without dried fruit?

PickAChew · 21/02/2022 23:48

@Sockbogies

I ordered a yummy sticky toffee pudding with custard in a restaurant.

Very excited about pudding arrival.

Until I discovered AN EVIL HERD/CLUSTER/SWARM of sultanas nesting in the sponge.
Or raisins.
Or currants.
Don't know, don't care. The only joyful thing about that pudding was the custard.

Dates. Sticky toffee pudding is dates, encased in cake, swamped in toffee sauce.
RedScarfJamjar · 21/02/2022 23:53

Nowt worse than a stealth dried fruit. You absolute bastards, get out of my food!

Sunnytwobridges · 22/02/2022 00:10

LOL! I agree! I actually like raisins but only like them in a trail mix. But never embedded in my cakes, cookie, muffin, bread, salad or the like. But then I don't like any kinds of fruit pieces in my food for the most part. Except I recently found that I love grapes in my chicken salad lol

CounsellorTroi · 22/02/2022 00:11

Bara Brith. And Chelsea buns.

WitchSharkadder · 22/02/2022 00:38

YANBU.

WitchSharkadder · 22/02/2022 00:40

Posted too soon....

I was going to say never in my 38 years have I been able to understand why people would remove the delicious, juicy part of a fruit and eat the shrivelled up carcass. It is particularly inhumane to hide said carcasses in other foods and force this level of disappointment, sadness and disgust upon a person. Cruel.

TheDogsMother · 22/02/2022 01:01

I love dried fruit ! Hot cross buns, tea cakes , Christmas cake, Christmas pudding ..... food of the Gods. I can't have a bag of sultanas in the house or it would be gone in moments.

TheDogsMother · 22/02/2022 01:03

Oh yes and Malt Loaf. Absolutely love it.

user1471443411 · 22/02/2022 01:08

YABU - it does ruin lots of things - anything savoury, muesli, lots of sweet things too but I can't concede that it ruins Christmas pudding or cake. They wouldn't be the same without dried fruit, there are a few other foods too, Eccles cakes, and a type of cake in our local Co-op, like a tray bake made of biscuit, covered with white glace icing and with raisins in the middle.

AuntTwacky · 22/02/2022 01:15

Who wants a hot x bun with no raisins Confused

me4real · 22/02/2022 01:38

Love my dried fruit, eat it like sweets (then suffer for it later. 😀) Prunes FTW. But I can imagine a raisin's better if you know it's coming. Hot cross buns are scrumptious. But I do prefer plain scones to fruit ones.

Chocaholic9 · 22/02/2022 02:06

Yes, totally agree with this.

The disappointment l I feel when I bite into what I think is a chocolate cupcake and the chocolate is fucking raisins.
