What things are you guilty of nicking from hotels?

I'm definitely guilty of stealing things from hotel rooms. I never go for anything overly big, usually teabags, toilet roll and the toiletries when I leave.
What are you guilty of nicking from hotels or your workplace?

Towels... Why is everyone shocked about toilet roll? They will replace it anyway so why not take it Smile

Sparklingbrook · 14/02/2022 07:41

LOL at the towel theft horror

More LOL at the towel theft boasting.

RampantIvy · 14/02/2022 07:41

I don't use shower gel as I prefer soap, and I need a specific shampoo for my hair so I never use hotel shampoo either.

They replace them in work places and public loos as well. Do you take them from there?
CheapFoodShits · 14/02/2022 07:44

I have the bottles of shampoo and shower gel from Disneyland Paris.
My mum once stole a towel from some fancy hotel in Tunisia, only for it to be taken by the housekeeping staff at Disneyland Paris 😂

When we went our first cruise, dd adopted one of cloth napkins from the dinner table as her new snuggly. She kept it with her all the time that holiday and even a few years down the line, she still sleeps with it every night. We had the same waiter every night and he took quite a shine to dd. He gave me two additional ones to take home for her, although I don’t think he was meant to! Blush

My friend & I took a couple of glasses from a local pub once - they had really pretty “ barley sugar twist” stems. We were very drunk & would never normally take stuff.

DrSbaitso · 14/02/2022 07:47

The cost of the toiletries and drinks is factored into the price so you're not nicking them; they expect and have costed for those to be replaced every day.

Toilet roll seems a bit weird. Taking the towels is theft.

WorriedMillie · 14/02/2022 07:48

We’ve stayed in ski chalets where mini Molton brown toiletries were provided. I handed OH the radox and took them home for guests 😂

MrsLargeEmbodied · 14/02/2022 07:49

from work? envelopes sellotape and actually a hole puncher

PartyPlan · 14/02/2022 07:50

@GoBrookeYourself I don’t owe @flowervest75 an apology at all. She is a brazen thief and thinks nothing of it so calling her out on her lack of common sense is fair game, both on this thread and on her previous thread.

Mylittlepixie · 14/02/2022 07:50

The things you listed are yours to use, so its not stealing. They are all included in the price. Taking towels, pillows, robes etc is not okay.

NinaDefoe · 14/02/2022 07:51

@shrunkenhead

Insider knowledge coming up.... Those mini toiletries are just topped up from a giant bottle of the stuff in some hotels and as for stealing curtains I hate to think what might be on them....Envy not envy.
Not buying that.

You’re telling us that hotel housekeepers go into a room, collect together all the half used miniature bottles and funnel new shampoo/shower gel into them?

Ok.

SunshineCake1 · 14/02/2022 07:52

This has "journalist" written all over it.

MulticolourTulips · 14/02/2022 07:53

Clearly no one has taken anything from a hotel that they’re not supposed too

Not anyone who isn't a theif, no.

ChurchlightJane · 14/02/2022 07:55

I don't steal anything. It's a very tacky thing to do.

I don’t think ‘we were very drunk and would never normally take stuff’ actually works as a defence in court - just in case you were hoping you could scale up to a bank heist or something using that as a get-out Hmm
HomeHomeInTheRange · 14/02/2022 07:57

I don’t steal stuff from anywhere Confused

Chakraleaf · 14/02/2022 07:57

Never take anything, it's never anything that I need?! I once took a coaster home but that was a mistake!

Bananarama21 · 14/02/2022 08:03

flowervest75

DP and I always take a couple of big towels just because we can😂 they’re always super long and so comfy. I love them lol

Christ are you that hard up you can't afford towels. Wouldn't never occur to me to take them.

CounsellorTroi · 14/02/2022 08:03

It's not OK to steal glasses from a pub either! When I was young and sprightly and worked in a pub it used to drive us mad when people stole glasses, ashtrays and bar towels. The publican has to buy new ones you know, they don't grow on trees!

I found a pint glass in the gutter near our house the day after the millennium. I know I should have taken it back to the pub down the road but took it home as a souvenir. It’s had a good life with us.

DropYourSword · 14/02/2022 08:04

@IncompleteSenten

If I have any leftover mini shampoo or soap I'll take that I know it's stealing but it's also reducing waste so I tell myself it's ok.
That's really not stealing
Rivermonsters · 14/02/2022 08:05

@GoBrookeYourself it’s hardly a nasty comment tho is it

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 14/02/2022 08:05

I agree with Hollow talk. Stealing would be a dealbreaker for me.

I agree. I know a couple who show off the dressing gowns etc they have stolen. They’re in very well-paid work, always have been, but they are the biggest cheapskates I know. Their whole family are freeloaders who are notorious for their efforts to avoid paying anything they owe. Really weird!

MuffinStrops · 14/02/2022 08:07
@LadyGagagagaga123 I’m not ashamed at all hence why I posted it🤷‍♀️
Well you should be. You’re a thief. Also it pushes up the room rates for everyone else.
I take the toiletries and tea bags etc. Nothing else.
