What things are you guilty of nicking from hotels?

I'm definitely guilty of stealing things from hotel rooms. I never go for anything overly big, usually teabags, toilet roll and the toiletries when I leave.
What are you guilty of nicking from hotels or your workplace?
@flowervest75 I think it is because you actually stole from the hotel whereas everyone else has just taken items that are meant to be consumed and not reused - drinks, biscuits, toiletries etc.

There is a difference.
Yes

I read the ‘nicked’ bit as being jovial, not literal

flowervest75 · 14/02/2022 08:27

@ENoeuf

Well thanks *@flowervest75* I’ve just added the Blakemore to hotels to try, having googled it. Also the pile on is mad. Other pps have mentioned towels and things and it’s only you getting it. The thread is about nicking things! It’s like pps have seen the title and decided they fancy telling someone off.

We’ve taken the free slippers, pens by accident, toiletries and biscuits for the kids. Bought a pen in the Langham as dm loved the room one. Also guilty of nabbing mini Nutella’s.

@ENoeuf thank you😂 that’s why I called it fake outrage because the selective outrage on here has made me laugh. The thread is about nicking things! It’s like pps have seen the title and decided they fancy telling someone off. Haha honestly it doesn’t make sense!

Also, I’m sure you’ll enjoy the hotel if you ever go. It’s lovely especially during summertime!

train4yog · 14/02/2022 08:27

I haven't taken anything from anywhere. Why would you?

@RampantIvy you definitely haven’t read the entire thread if you believe ‘everyone else’ has taken the little bits that they’ve paid for anyway

flowervest75 · 14/02/2022 08:29

@Rivermonsters I’m very calm thank you🤦‍♀️

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 14/02/2022 08:30

Oh i know others have stolen stuff

I just agree that the OP can be read different ways

@flowervest75

I’d love to hear the difference between taking toilet tissue or towels from a hotel and taking glasses from a pub. Surely they’re all stealing no but I bet I’ll hear that one isn’t as bad as the other🤔
Taking towels is as bad as glasses. Loo paper, possibly not, as it's put out for guests to use anyway and obviously isn't going to be reused.

What I wonder about, @flowervest75, is where you stay that you can help yourselves to towels and keep topping them up? When I've been in hotels you get what's in the bathroom plus possibly a couple of spared in the wardrobe, and that's it. Do you nick them off the trolleys in the corridors when they're making up other rooms?

supersop60 · 14/02/2022 08:32

@flowervest75

DP and I always take a couple of big towels just because we can😂 they’re always super long and so comfy. I love them lol
The hotel will know it's you, though, won't they? Or perhaps they'll knock something off the wages of the housemaids...
HollaHolla · 14/02/2022 08:32

I once stole a small towel when I was young, and egged on by mates. It was from the Hilton in Paris (embroidered ‘Paris Hilton’) and I was highly entertained by it. It’s still in use in my house over 20 years later.
Otherwise, it’s usually just the little toiletries and spare biscuits - if I don’t eat them! I consider them consumables, so not stealing.

gogohm · 14/02/2022 08:32

The little bottles of shampoo for camping, sachets of coffee also for camping and the little milks and sugars, you've guessed it for camping. Not the loo roll though, that seems odd but I put a few tissues in my pocket or bag for the journey

Laiste · 14/02/2022 08:34
@Laiste - curtain tie backs are a weird thing to steal! I've never even owned a pair!
It was mid 90s Grin

I once did take a towel. By accident, it fell in my case. I was mortified Shock
stayingaliveisawayoflife · 14/02/2022 08:34

When we were in Europe for our honeymoon the hotels we stayed in had complimentary l'occitane toiletries and they put new out every day so I had quite a collection when we left. They also gave us slippers and a robe (they asked for our sizes and put a label saying complimentary please take and use) I was going to leave them behind but our room lady physically gave them to me and told me to take them! Oh and their hot chocolate sachets were amazing and they gave us more of them to take home too! We left a good tip for our room lady.

When I stay in hotels here usually the premier inn I actually end up buying my own toilet paper, dettol wipes and hot chocolate and end up leaving it behind because I can't fit it in my case. It may get chucked but I do leave a note saying sorry for leaving it for them to deal with.

balalake · 14/02/2022 08:35

Pens.

CounsellorTroi · 14/02/2022 08:36

@shrunkenhead

Insider knowledge coming up.... Those mini toiletries are just topped up from a giant bottle of the stuff in some hotels and as for stealing curtains I hate to think what might be on them....Envy not envy.
Occasionally stay somewhere where full size bottles of Temple Spa products (which they use in their own spa) are provided, I’m sure they are topped up but I wouldn’t take them anyway.
gogohm · 14/02/2022 08:36

Oh and on my last cruise I did take the towel animal but it was given to me by the steward who said take it home, he was so sweet (I was travelling with my dd because my h had just left me, I never told the steward but he said I had a sadness and it was to cheer me up!) don't think the cruise lines encourage this though!

Laiste · 14/02/2022 08:37

I'm not suggesting we were all stealing tie backs in the mid 90s mind you.

Maireas · 14/02/2022 08:38

Indeed. Swag curtains were a crime against taste and style. Wink
GreenFingersWouldBeHandy · 14/02/2022 08:39

You take toilet rolls from hotels?

You should be ashamed of yourself.

Lalliella · 14/02/2022 08:40

Oops just read the whole thread I thought @flowervest75 post was a joke Blush You really stole towels? That’s super-tacky.

Wrongkindofovercoat · 14/02/2022 08:40

Always take the little sachets of coffee or hot chocolate and sugar, keep them in my handbag.
Nice hotels , I will take any individual toiletries if they are nice.
I did once watch in awe as a woman made pack lunches for herself and 3 children from the breakfast buffet, so cheese and ham sandwiches, fruit, pastries, filled their drinks bottles up with juice, made herself a take away coffee.

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 14/02/2022 08:45

All you thieving cunts are being subsidised by people like me who don’t steal the towels etc

Benjispruce5 · 14/02/2022 08:47

I’m not a thief so no I’d only use the things left for me but most of the time leave the toiletries. I have tea at home and better shampoo.

If you've ever wondered why the continental breakfast is so expensive for what it is, that's why.

Lister: 'Well there was one time at this hotel ...'
Kryten: 'Oh, lots of people take towels from hotels, Sir.'
Lister: 'I took the bed!'
