Would you have a hangover from this?

Last night, I drank a dark & stormy (three quarters of a measure of rum rather than a full one, because I didn't want it to hit me too fast) and then over the course of dinner and watching a film, half a bottle of wine.

Today I didn't feel hungover as such (no headache, not feeling sick or awful) but can sort of slightly feel the alcohol in me in a non-specific way? So perhaps that's slightly hungover? Confused I don't like it, either way.

As my thirties progress, I just am much more sensitive to booze. Also caffeine, which is very annoying, as throwing caution to the wind with a 5pm tea really ruins my sleep Hmm

Would you be hungover at any level if you'd drunk the same? If not, how much gives you a hangover?

Finding it interesting the way bodies change. Mine is definitely less enthusiastic about alcohol nowadays.

I'd be properly drunk after that much booze, and really hungover the next day. Maybe not throwing-up hungover, but that "toxic" feeling you get, combined with being very tired.

FennecShandDoesEverything · 13/02/2022 20:20

I can get a mild hangover off two glasses, so... yeah.

I don't get drunk, because I hate being drunk and I hate being hungover even more.

AbsentmindedWoman · 13/02/2022 20:20

That toxic feeling! Grin

I know exactly what you mean. Am thankful I don't feel that bad today!

I wouldn't be hungover but I'd know I'd had a drink.
A large glass of wine is my limit for being completely unaffected the next day. If I have more than that I'll feel it, even if it's just being a bit tired and bleary eyed.
I remember when I was at uni, a hangover was strictly a morning thing..I'd have a fry up and a Coke and be ready to go again! Now, in my mid 40s, they are definitely all day affairs, sometimes even 2 days if I have really gone for it Blush

Pinkflask · 13/02/2022 20:22

Half a bottle of wine is my normal weekend amount to drink - I wouldn’t be hungover after that or feel particularly drunk but if I have one extra drink I do start to feel it so I’d feel a bit gritty but mostly OK on what you had. I wouldn’t tend to drink any more than that in an evening though because I’d really start to feel hungover the next day on more than 4 drinks.

Letsleepingcats · 13/02/2022 20:22

I'd be sick on that but I'm a lightweight

traintraveller · 13/02/2022 20:23

I wouldn't be hungover on that nor would I be drunk. I know the feeling you mean though I describe it as not hungover but I know I've been drinking.

HelloBunny · 13/02/2022 20:24

I can’t tolerate much alcohol. Looking back on my younger days, from 25 onwards I’d get horrific hangovers... Didn’t stop me going out on the razz!
But now, I barely touch drink. Maybe a Baileys at Christmas. A cocktail on my birthday. Had a couple glasses Champagne recently, which resulted in banging headache & vomiting the next day.
Last time I had coffee, I was wide awake until 5am. It was only a latte... I don’t have tea after 6pm. And I wouldn’t touch Coke! Or Red Bull...

Tulipvase · 13/02/2022 20:25

No.

BY MN standards I probably drink a lot. I don’t drink in the week but on a weekend tend to drink a bottle of wine a night. I certainly can feel it but not a hangover as such. I think you certainly build a tolerance to alcohol and also certain wines can have much more of an effect. I can’t drink NZ wines for example.

Teeturtle · 13/02/2022 20:25

I don’t know what it would do to me now, but in my drinking days the hall bottle of wine would have had no effect by the next day. Not sure about rum, never tried it.

HelloBunny · 13/02/2022 20:25

Wine is a no-no for me, too!

Allhallowseve · 13/02/2022 20:27

One drink now and I can feel it the next day . However I also think I'm far more sensitive and in tune to how I feel . I have drank once in the last three years because of this as I have realised that I hate the way it makes me feel the next day(s). I am sensitive to caffeine too drink decaf all day - just enjoy one coffee in the morning even have to have caffeine free Diet Coke .
I used to drink a lot as a teen and in my twenty's .

Kendodd · 13/02/2022 20:29

I'd definitely be tipsy on that and have a slight hangover the next day.

WheelieBinPrincess · 13/02/2022 20:30

No, it definitely wouldn’t make me face a hangover at all, that amount! I thought my tolerance might go down after a almost a year no drinking from pregnancy and rush thé baby was very tiny but…it didn’t.

Everydaydayisaschoolday · 13/02/2022 20:30

I wouldn't feel that. A double gin, half a bottle of wine, a couple of glasses of fizz and maybe a double of a spirit would be a normal drinking day for me.

I know that that is technically binge drinking but I'm 60 and healthy so I can live with this 3/4 nights a week.

AnyFucker · 13/02/2022 20:31

No

Useranon1 · 13/02/2022 20:31

No, not at all. It's two glasses of wine and a cocktail, plus food.

I'd be able to tell I'd been drinking in the evening but not drunk and wouldn't feel it next day.

I don't drink much, but only just 30

Fairislefandango · 13/02/2022 20:32

No I wouldn't have a hangover after that, bit I'd sleep worse and would be able to tell in the morning that I'd been drinking. I wouldn't be remotely drunk after that much. I don't drink much nowadays, but still seem to have quite a high tolerance.

ThatsALotOfPassionfruit · 13/02/2022 20:34

Nope, wouldn’t be hungover after that. I’d wake feeling normal

30not13 · 13/02/2022 20:36

That wouldn't have touched the sides Blush
I don't know whether to be proud or disgusted in myself.

This thread is turning into the mumsnet chicken Grin

LubaLuca · 13/02/2022 20:38

No, I wouldn't have a hangover or feel at all drunk. I'm not a regular drinker either.

I got drunk at a Christmas party last year after drinking two bottles of wine, but I felt fine the day after. Tired, but fine.

Krabapple · 13/02/2022 20:38

Oh no that wouldn’t even touch the sides ….

5keletor · 13/02/2022 20:39

I don't know, I don't drink rum, but the half bottle of wine would have me tipsy, at least. I don't think I'd be hungover, but I'd probably not sleep as well as I would without having drunk it.

WinterCarlisle · 13/02/2022 20:41

What’s a dark and stormy?

Would depend on the wine tbh. If it was a heavy red then I’d be headachy and a bit toxic feeling. If it was white / rose and I drank plenty of water I’d prob be ok.

I am a MASSIVE lightweight not through want of trying Hmm

eminem120176 · 13/02/2022 20:42

This is a joke right
