Would you have a hangover from this?

Last night, I drank a dark & stormy (three quarters of a measure of rum rather than a full one, because I didn't want it to hit me too fast) and then over the course of dinner and watching a film, half a bottle of wine.

Today I didn't feel hungover as such (no headache, not feeling sick or awful) but can sort of slightly feel the alcohol in me in a non-specific way? So perhaps that's slightly hungover? Confused I don't like it, either way.

As my thirties progress, I just am much more sensitive to booze. Also caffeine, which is very annoying, as throwing caution to the wind with a 5pm tea really ruins my sleep Hmm

Would you be hungover at any level if you'd drunk the same? If not, how much gives you a hangover?

Finding it interesting the way bodies change. Mine is definitely less enthusiastic about alcohol nowadays.

I've pretty much knocked it on the head now as I can't tolerate it. In my youth, I drank a lot socially but that got less and less once I had children.

I don't enjoy it anymore which is a shame but I couldn't drink now and get up for work and function all day.

Thatsplentyjack · 14/02/2022 07:35

Yup, I would probably feel pretty ill. Hard to tell though. My body handles alcohol differently all the time, but I would at least feel bloated and groggy.
I can drink caffeine passed 4pm either, but if I don't have around 3 cups of coffee a day I end up with a headache. I'm completely addicted.

Oblomov22 · 14/02/2022 07:37

Wouldn't bother me. I don't get badly drunk, no hangovers and can consume huge amounts of alcohol easily, even if I haven't drunk for months. Always been the same.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 14/02/2022 07:40

Not even slightly. It takes quite a bit for me to get a hangover

Oblomov22 · 14/02/2022 07:41

'anxious and snappy', 'impact my sleep', sound pretty miserable side effects. I've never had those.

waterlego · 14/02/2022 07:43

I would feel grotty after that, yes. Not throwing up but very tired and and probably a bit anxious and with that toxic feeling someone described unthread. I drink infrequently and I don’t drink wine anymore because it makes me feel so shit. When I do drink, I have beer or cider.

megletthesecond · 14/02/2022 07:45

Yes. Very.
I was never a huge drinker but once I had dc's, then hit menopause at 40 my tolerance plummeted. I can have a mouthful of wine and that's it.

Lanareyrey · 14/02/2022 07:45

43 head and now get hangovers after 2 drinks! So yes would def be hungover front that.

LuckySantangelo35 · 14/02/2022 08:02

No, I’d be fine with that

Diqgeneration · 14/02/2022 08:03

It mixing your drinks. Rum doesn’t mix well and is well known to cause sickness in some.

fluffythedragonslayer · 14/02/2022 08:12

I have no idea how my body will react to alcohol from one day to the next. I can have one glass of wine and wake up with a headache, then a week later finish off a bottle of wine and be fine the next day.

I never ever have a drop of alcohol on a week night as my job would be impossible with a hangover so not worth the risk!

So OP yes on some occasions that much would give me a hangover. And on other occasions I'd be fine!!

Fairislefandango · 16/02/2022 19:26

I have no idea how my body will react to alcohol from one day to the next.

Me neither! Sometimes I get really flushed and feel uncomfortable after one drink. Sometimes I can sink the equivalent of at least half a bottle of wine and feel absolutely fine. It seems to have nothing to do with what drink it is!

OmgIThinkILikeYou · 16/02/2022 19:43

2 sips of wine would ensure a hangover for me, rum and gin I can drink without ever really feeling off. Its weird to me that different things impact us differently

DetailMouse · 16/02/2022 19:44

Half a bottle of wine and I'd feel jaded next day . A drop of rum too I'd have a bad head

If I even look at wine I have a hangover and chronic heartburn, so I've not touched it in ten years.

Suzi888 · 16/02/2022 19:51

No idea what dark and stormy is, but was just one drink? Confused I’m surprised anyone would have a hangover the next day from just one alcoholic beverage.

And half a bottle of wine
Suzi888 · 16/02/2022 20:03

Oooh 🤣 lol depends what time I drank it, close to bed time then I’d feel a bit groggy!

LakieLady · 16/02/2022 20:03

Half a bottle of wine wouldn't give me a hangover, but the rum might be a step too far. A G&T and half a bottle of wine would be fine, but I find rum quite hangover-inducing.

I get hangovers much more easily since my menopause. I used to be able to drink shitloads without getting a hangover before.

Bywayofanupdate · 16/02/2022 20:05

I have a hangover from 1/2 bottle of wine Confused

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 16/02/2022 20:06

Yes I would be but I don't really drink. I have always been really sensitive to alcohol

Svara · 16/02/2022 20:08

Half a bottle of wine is 4 or 5 drinks? I would feel not proper hungover but not 100% the next day after two ciders, so about the same. Two is my limit. I don't know what a dark and stormy is. I'm in my late thirties.

FantasticFebruary · 16/02/2022 20:08

@Findingthelight1

I'd be properly drunk after that much booze, and really hungover the next day. Maybe not throwing-up hungover, but that "toxic" feeling you get, combined with being very tired.
3/4 of a single rum & half a bottle of Prosecco?

That's not 'that much booze'

Meandthesky · 16/02/2022 20:12

I don’t drink wine at all but three or four drinks wouldn’t leave me feeling rough the next day

I wouldn’t really be drunk off that amount, unless i downed them all in a short space of time. Tipsy yes but not properly drunk

I don’t drink often at all now, only on a handful of nights out a year. I did used to drink loads when I was at uni but that was 15 years ago
