Would you have a hangover from this?

Last night, I drank a dark & stormy (three quarters of a measure of rum rather than a full one, because I didn't want it to hit me too fast) and then over the course of dinner and watching a film, half a bottle of wine.

Today I didn't feel hungover as such (no headache, not feeling sick or awful) but can sort of slightly feel the alcohol in me in a non-specific way? So perhaps that's slightly hungover? Confused I don't like it, either way.

As my thirties progress, I just am much more sensitive to booze. Also caffeine, which is very annoying, as throwing caution to the wind with a 5pm tea really ruins my sleep Hmm

Would you be hungover at any level if you'd drunk the same? If not, how much gives you a hangover?

Finding it interesting the way bodies change. Mine is definitely less enthusiastic about alcohol nowadays.

I'm 40s and absolutely wouldn't have a hangover after that.

I'd start to feel that I had been drinking the next morning if I exceeded a bottle of wine to myself.

AbsentmindedWoman · 13/02/2022 20:47

It was a Malbec. Really nice. I didn't feel drunk at all!

Nope - def not!

BurntO · 13/02/2022 20:49

It wouldn’t even register here.

TiddleTaddleTat · 13/02/2022 20:50

Depends. If it was half a bottle of red I would be much more affected than it it was white.

BottlingBurpsForGrandma · 13/02/2022 20:50

I'm in my 30s and feel hungover in that sort of groggy, can't be arsed, craving salty food way after 2 units of alcohol, less if it's red wine.

Half a bottle of wine?! I'd feel grotty for a couple of days.

However I have had a decade of basically never drinking as have been either pregnant or bedshariing.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 13/02/2022 20:50

That's a Tuesday night in this house.

chipsandpeas · 13/02/2022 20:51

hell no but id be classed an alky on here if i admitted my alcohol comsumtion

TheChosenTwo · 13/02/2022 20:53

So less than one measure of rum and 2 glasses of wine.
Possibly but that’s more because wine doesn’t agree with me. I’m a spirits drinker really. Or beer.
I can drink 4/5 quite booze heavy cocktails before I get a hangover.
Sadly I rather overdid it on Friday night (some people would faint if I told them how much I drank!) and felt hideous yesterday. The worst id ever felt. And still today. Turns out I’ve got bloody Covid.

waitingpatientlyforspring · 13/02/2022 20:56

I can feel hungover drinking a small amount and not after drinking a huge amount.

Friday I had 5 glasses of wine so almost a bottle and two strong sloe gins and woke up yesterday feeling slightly hungover with a parched mouth. Yesterday we shared a bottle of fizz and shared a bottle of red. Plus I had 3 or 4 double vodka and cokes, so more than Friday and today I felt fine. No hangover at all.

honeyfox · 13/02/2022 21:14

I'd probably be fine after that but no guarantees with hangover roulette, as I call it these days (in my forties). I had three glasses of red wine Friday night and I was in the absolute horrors yesterday which was unusual. Hard to call it sometimes.

MazzleDazzle · 13/02/2022 21:19

Whether or not I get a hangover depends on where I am in my monthly cycle. If it’s just before/during my period or round about when I ovulate then I get horrendous hangovers with anything more than a glass of wine.

RJnomore1 · 13/02/2022 21:21

Nope absolutely not. I’d have a dry mouth from red wine that’s all.

EricScrantona · 13/02/2022 21:25

You might have covid. DP had this on day after drinking... was covid.

DrDreReturns · 13/02/2022 21:27

I wouldn't be hungover from that.

ClariceQuiff · 13/02/2022 21:30

Not hung over as such - just the faint and not easy to define sensation that I'd had a drink the night before.

SocksAndTheCity · 13/02/2022 21:34

+1, possibly with a touch of the fear thrown in for fun and I likely wouldn't have got much sleep. I rarely drink though, and if I do it isn't wine.
Hornicorn · 13/02/2022 21:35

Since I had my first kid a few years ago I’ve been drinking less and less. Mainly due to not going out due to Covid, but also having to get up early or throughout the night which feels so much worse with a hangover.

I think my tolerance is now so low because even if I have one drink, I know I’ve had it the next day. Even after one glass of wine I would feel slightly fuzzy headed, anxious and snappy the next day.

I’m pregnant again and tbh I’m relieved that I won’t have to have that hungover feeling for the foreseeable

Chestofdraws · 13/02/2022 21:37

No I’d not even be tiddly but it would impact my sleep and I’d know it th next day because of it.

housemaus · 13/02/2022 21:43

I'd maybe have slightly less good sleep than usual but no, I wouldn't be hungover. And I drink maybe once a month to six weeks, so not like I'm a regular drinker.

FireMeetGasoline · 13/02/2022 21:44

I've felt dodgy today after my cousin's 30th, but I did have about 7 pints of San Miguel.

PaddleBoardingMomma · 13/02/2022 22:02

I've been teetotal for years because as I approached and hit my 30s the hangovers were utterly shocking, feeling like an anxious grumpy mess for a day or two after a few drinks is just pointless. Kind of nice to read I'm not the only one who can't take huge amounts of booze in their stride, don't feel quite so boring now 🤣

Mylittlepixie · 14/02/2022 07:24

I cant mix wine with spirits.
If i drink a bottle of wine or 2-3 spirits drinks im completely fine the next day.
But make me one drink and a glass of wine and i get a hangover.
Maybe that was the problem?

Twinklights · 14/02/2022 07:28

No but because it was wine! If I had a couple of spirits I would be fine but wine is a big no, no for me!

doadeer · 14/02/2022 07:31

I get hungover immediately after even a glass of wine - it's crazy.
