Suitcase locked with everything inside

Not really an AIBU but am in dire straits (relatively speaking) and hoping someone can help...

Have come away for a few nights with toddler. DH lovingly shut and locked out suitcase ready to go, before realising that he didn't actually know the code.

We had to run and catch the train so left with a locked suitcase, thinking that we'd be able to figure out the code later.

999 tries on the combination lock later and no joy, so now we're stuck in a hotel room with no clothes and, worse, no books or cuddly toys to help toddler sleep.

It's a Delsey suitcase with a 3-digit combination lock and a button with a space for a key.

Please please can anyone help?

Is it a hard case suitcase?

I'd probably get some tools or ask the hotel maintenance team to break it open and buy a new suitcase...

Borrow knife from hotel, cut zip fabric, buy new suitcase.

It's a thin bit of metal holding the zipper to the lock. Just force it.

My one like that defaulted at 123 if that helps at all….

Yes just get some kitchen scissors from hotel and cut the zip open

You might be able to push a pen/pencil in between the zip teeth and open it that way- as seen on a travel program which said that locking a suitcase was useless!

If you have actually gone from 001 to 999 then something may be stuck inbetween lid and case jamming it. I had exactly this with a delsey years ago on an American holiday. Are any/all side locks undone?

Stick a pen between the teeth of the zip, this might allow you to get access to what's inside.

And don't forget 000 as an option too

Could try this?
Spin each circle downwards 5 times. Moving each number circle one number at a time, rotate them each 5 different times so that the grooves lock into place. This will open up the mechanism on the inside of the lock so that you can open it. Now you can slide the button to open up the lock.

Have you tried sliding the button, or 000 for the code?

Is it a brand new case? If so until you set your own code it's 000.

Locate a very small hidden button. Press it with a small stick. Turn digits to new code, and open again.Just locate that button first, close to the zipper.
No idea if this works....

If I was really desperate I'd just cut open the zip or break the lock and buy a new suitcase

Just jab thought the zipper with something sharp but blunt'ish like a biro.

I'd definitely cut it open and buy a new case after trying 000 and 123

Hardcase, not new, but it's been so long that we've forgotten the code! No key available unfortunately

How do you lovingly close a suitcase? 😆
I hope you manage to get it open though op, I think you may have to use some brute force!

Is it actually locked? On their website it says

all you have to do is push a small button near the lock. If you can see an arrow, push the button in the direction of the arrow. You will then be able to open your suitcase with ease.
