Suitcase locked with everything inside

Not really an AIBU but am in dire straits (relatively speaking) and hoping someone can help...

Have come away for a few nights with toddler. DH lovingly shut and locked out suitcase ready to go, before realising that he didn't actually know the code.

We had to run and catch the train so left with a locked suitcase, thinking that we'd be able to figure out the code later.

999 tries on the combination lock later and no joy, so now we're stuck in a hotel room with no clothes and, worse, no books or cuddly toys to help toddler sleep.

It's a Delsey suitcase with a 3-digit combination lock and a button with a space for a key.

Please please can anyone help?

NatashaBedwouldbenice well it turns out that by the time I had commented the suitcase was open so its a moot point but assuming it was still locked and unopened.........having another go is always worth a try I think. Why not? Its better than staring at a locked suitcase you cant get into.

@LostMyLastHatfulOfWords

We just worked through all possible combinations (logical and ticked off on paper) There are about 1000. We found ours in the first 300.
There have to be way more than 1000!

So... you could have just opened it by breaking the zip... but you didn't want to....
Right.

Then why complain 😅🤐

Plus:you were in a hotel.... you really think they have never handles this situation before? Come on Grin

I certainly wouldn’t break the zip if there was an alternative solution. Many posters came up with ideas and the case was finally opened.

I have a case with a TSA lock and it’s worth £600. No way would I cut that open!

What I don’t understand is how breaking the zip would open the case. The case would still be held together by the zip ends locating in the lock and the hinges on the opposite side. You would be able to pull the odd pair of knickers out but not fully unpack. I think @Suitcasefuckup did the right thing.

Have a look at master TSA keys on Amazon - they’re used by US border control and should open most suitcase locks.
