Check this out:

''We offer silent appointments because we understand that not everyone wants to socialize while getting your hair done. Regardless of your reasons, there is no need to explain or feel apologetic. Your comfort is our utmost priority. When you book your appointment online, just leave us a note at the end of the process requesting a silent appointment. Please know we recognize the need for this peaceful time and we want you to know that this option is always here, should you prefer it. A silent hair appointment: Simply gorgeous hair and peaceful down time. We look forward to seeing you soon!''

This is in the US, so I'm not sure if the UK is offering it yet but they should if people want it!

I don’t talk. I take my book. And I say at the start I really need some time to just not talk. And they always look relieved. It is delightful.

WalkingOnSonshine · 12/02/2022 18:28

My hairdresser in the UK offers this, along with particular slots for ND adults/kids who don’t want a hair wash/hairdryers on/music on etc.

AnyFucker · 12/02/2022 18:29

My salon offer these. I haven’t taken them up on it because they are not super chatty anyway and are happy for you to close your eyes and just relax. I would though.

sleaf · 12/02/2022 18:29

I would LOVE this. Can't stand having to make chit chat with my hairdresser especially as there's also a bit of a language barrier.

1Wanda1 · 12/02/2022 18:30

My hairdresser offers this. She's brilliant though so we chat the whole time.

Nidan2Sandan · 12/02/2022 18:30

This is one of the reasons I rarely go to the hairdressers, I absolutely loathe the attempt at small talk.

Imjusthereforthecheesecake · 12/02/2022 18:30

Sign me up!

Best thing about Covid and face masks is that my hair dresser has stopped blathering on constantly. I love it.

LockdownLisa · 12/02/2022 18:31

I enjoy a chat with my hairdresser (she's been doing my hair for about 13 years) but absolutely see why people would enjoy a bit of peace and quiet. It's great that this is offered so clearly by the salon.

thewheelofthehamster · 12/02/2022 18:33

Our local salon and beauty place offer these
Absolutely amazing!

CMOTDibbler · 12/02/2022 18:33

I can't imagine anything better. Maybe then I'd go more than once or twice a year

LincolnshireLassInLondon · 12/02/2022 18:35

My hairdresser says she can't chat and concentrate on hair at the same time. Suits me perfectly.

MargaretThursday · 12/02/2022 18:36

One near here offers that.
I was thinking of of my dds would like that. She isn't keen on her hair being cut, and she's not keen on small talk.

Sirzy · 12/02/2022 18:40

I have had the same hairdresser for years and one of the reasons I love her is because she knows I’m not a talker!

KylieCharlene · 12/02/2022 18:41

Only last week I sat getting my hair done for 3.5 painful hours of small talk followed by uncomfortable silence then when one of us thought of something to say we'd have a bit of uncomfortable chat followed by the silence again. It was awful.
The only time I felt ok was when my colours were left to develop and she left me alone but even then I was stressing about what to talk about when she came back to me.
I'm really happy with my hair and go every 8 weeks but I don't enjoy it as it's just cringe trying to think of things to say.
I'd love a silent appointment.

OneMoreTimeThen · 12/02/2022 18:44

My autistic teen would love this, she doesn't see the point in small talk and it puts her off going to the hairdressers!

annlee3817 · 12/02/2022 18:50

My DH would pay extra if this was an option 🤣

Paradisaeidae · 12/02/2022 18:50

This would be a dream come true for me.

Autistic, hate hair cuts, hate small talk.

I had a hairdresser I could just about cope with once a year, chatty but nice, but last time I saw her she told me something very personal and distressing and I honestly was upset and triggered for weeks afterwards. I still think about what she told me and feel emotional about it. Sad I thought small talk was bad, this was worse. Sad

So yep. Silent hair appointments would be a dream.

HopingForMyRainbowBaby · 12/02/2022 18:50

Yanbu I hate having to make awkward small talk when I'm sat having my hair done.

Thebedistoohot · 12/02/2022 18:51

My salon have little cards at the check in area that say Quiet Service and you can take one and put it on your station and the stylist will keep chat to the minimum. It’s fab.

Ludoole · 12/02/2022 18:51

I hate the chit chat!! I'd live a silent appointment!!

LuckyWithMyLot · 12/02/2022 18:52

Omg I LOVE this idea and I bet lots of hairdressers do too.

Ribenery · 12/02/2022 18:52

Utter Bliss! Where do I sign up!

Mundra · 12/02/2022 19:03

One of the reasons I return to my hairdresser over and over again is because they understand that I like to sit quietly and enjoy not talking.

rc22 · 12/02/2022 19:04

I like a quick catch up with my hairdresser as she's lovely and I've been going to her for a while. I don't feel the need to keep the conversation going for the whole appointment though.
