Silent hair appointments!

Check this out:

''We offer silent appointments because we understand that not everyone wants to socialize while getting your hair done. Regardless of your reasons, there is no need to explain or feel apologetic. Your comfort is our utmost priority. When you book your appointment online, just leave us a note at the end of the process requesting a silent appointment. Please know we recognize the need for this peaceful time and we want you to know that this option is always here, should you prefer it. A silent hair appointment: Simply gorgeous hair and peaceful down time. We look forward to seeing you soon!''

This is in the US, so I'm not sure if the UK is offering it yet but they should if people want it!

YABU - The best part of a getting a new 'do is having a good ol' chat and heart-to-heart
YANBU - OMFG, at last, I'm booking an appointment right now.

My hairdresser offers quiet appointments. I don’t opt for it personally, she’s been a friends for years so the chat isn’t awkward. But she says they’re really popular. Most days at least half her clients request quiet.

I had my hair done yesterday - I barely said a word!

Explained to my hairdresser I was knackered and we just had a comfortable silence for most of it 🤷‍♀️

Some days I just can’t be bothered to make chit chat other times we have a really good chat

I love my hairdresser. We say hello, ask about each others holidays / kids and then she plys me with coffee without saying another word.

It's great.

Womblesmurf · 13/02/2022 20:19

I would absolutely love this.
The inane chat is the thing I hate most about going to the hairdresser. They seem to want to talk about reality TV, holidays, celebrities and local gossip and I couldn't give a rats arse about any of it.
I've also got crap hearing and can't hear a word they say when they're drying my hair, which can be awkward.
This is why I look live I've been dragged through a hedge backwards. And subsequently savaged by a bear.

I would not choose it but I think it should be offered. Probably a morning or day where all are scheduled together, so it's not your hairdresser being quiet whilst another is having a conversation with another client.

Blimey, you need earplugs where I go. My own hairdresser is really sweet and would gladly offer a silent appointment herself (think it’s a lovely idea) but it’s like a fish market in there. They all have really, really loud voices too. I just see it as entertainment.
