[quote Clavinova]According to Camilla Tominey this morning

Camilla Tominey in the Telegraph today;

Remain's useful idiots can't stop talking Britain down.

When the Foreign Secretary was insulted by her Russian counterpart, elite Remainers took the side of Moscow.

@Clavinova This thread is about falls, and in particular falls that we are or have enjoyed.
Am I to take it from your posts that you are enjoying the fall of Ukraine?

OP posts:

It was this I meant @Clavinova:

John Major appears to have finally found his forte. He may have proved a terrible prime minister, losing most of Margaret Thatcher’s majority in 1992 before being spanked by Tony Blair in 1997, but the Remoaner-in-Chief can now add a new epithet to his chequered CV.

Far from losing Thatcher’s majority, he persuaded over a million more people to vote Tory. It’s very fashionable in right wing circles to rubbish Major - I’m pretty sure history will be kinder to him than Johnson.

SueSaid · 12/02/2022 14:05

'How did David Milliband get on with Sergei Lavrov in 2008?'

What?! So this Lavrov bloke isn’t Mr reasonable after all?! Shocked I tell you. Shocked.

'When the Foreign Secretary was insulted by her Russian counterpart, elite Remainers took the side of Moscow.'

Yep. It's pathetic it really is.

SueSaid · 12/02/2022 14:09

I suppose we should be pleased the UK telly reporters have finally started given the situation in the Ukraine it deserves. It's taken them a week to not start every sentence with 'yeah but cake' or 'Sue Grey said'.

@JaniieJones Do you think that Liz Truss did a good job in the clip of her meeting Lavrov where she is talking over the translation?

Defiant Putin mauls Macron in Moscow

After more than five hours of talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow, there was little doubt Emmanuel Macron walked into the grizzly bear’s den — and he got mauled.

At one point, insisting that the Ukrainian government should be forced to implement provisions of the Minsk peace accords, Putin even quoted a line that features in an obscene song...

To all of this, Macron mustered virtually no response other than to insist that it was important to keep on talking.

And even on that point, Putin was glib and dismissive, insisting that during the meeting he felt like Macron was “tormenting” him by talking too much in his bid to find some kind of settlement.

Its a shame that the Prime Minister is so weak and wobbly that he has appointed a Foreign Secretary who does not even know how to work in a meeting in which translators are involved.

It's not "taking the side of Moscow" to suggest Truss should be well prepared before a meeting with the Russian Minister for Foreign Affairs! He's been in place since 2004 - they knew precisely the sort of man he is before they got there! Besides surely Truss would do better than Miliband? (although I suppose she was a Remain supporter- maybe they should have sent Francois)

@Clavinova Are you suggesting that at least Macron has the guts to spend 5 hours with Putin trying to sort this out, whereas Boris is probably too busy hiding in a fridge with cake.

Don't worry. That's still going on

'Do you think that Liz Truss did a good job in the clip of her meeting Lavrov where she is talking over the translation?'

People are human, they make mistakes. The sneering and cheering on the Russians all because you (not you specifically just the other Russian fans on this thread) have an axe to grind with BJ is a bit desperate really.

Our media fgs asking about cake when there's an actual crisis and war imminent. But Johnson! but wallpaper! But 10 min illegal something!Confused

Clavinova · 12/02/2022 14:20

Do you think that Liz Truss did a good job in the clip of her meeting Lavrov where she is talking over the translation?

Do you have a source for that other than "UK is with EU"?

Well we can certainly agree that the current government are very good at making mistakes. Frankly if I was making that many I would consider whether I should perhaps seek less important employment.

I am glad also that you now also agree that Boris attendance at his birthday party was illegal. It is a great shame at a time when there is another crisis we still have a Prime Minister who appears not to be able to get through many days without a party.

I think many people would have been embarassed to see Liz Truss at that press conference.

It suits a narrative to say "Elite Remainers"

Just like many people are embarrassed by Johnson. If the Government thinks it just elite remainers, then they are out of touch,

ClaudineClare · 12/02/2022 14:24

Ah Putin sniggering at the French and now Lavrov on the news again wanging on about the nasty US but it's Truss and Johnson who are the problem according to some on here.
Riiiight 🙄.

Whole conference here to watch
cakeorwine · 12/02/2022 14:26

Are you a binary thinker?

It's not either Truss or the Russians.

It can be both.

SueSaid · 12/02/2022 14:29

'It's not either Truss or the Russians.'

Oh well thank god for that. Anyone reading this might think it was any excuse to kick the Government because of 'partygate'.

I'm so pleased you will get behind our PM and support any efforts to stabilise this situation.

The Prime Minister is an international laughing stock, as you well know. Thank you for your entertaining contributions to this thread, do keep them coming I am enjoying them immensely.

I don't have much faith in our PM to stabilise any situation.

Especially given his domestic issues.
