Help me choose wedding menu please

I need to pick my choices for my wedding menu tasting and really struggling to decide. We get to pick 2 options for each course and I have ruled some out already but would love to get some feedback. It is a spring wedding (May) in Scotland and our guests are mainly a mix of people in their 30s and older relatives (from both Scotland and Ireland).

Starters:
-Smoked salmon with dill creme fraiche, capers and soda bread
-Scotch egg wrapped in haggis on a bed of leaved with dijon mayo
-Warm venion sausage salad with bacon, tomatoes and balsamic dressing
-Potted smoked mackerel with dill horseradish and seeded bread
-Tomato with bufallo mozzarella and rocket pesto on souordough

Mains:
-Sirloin of beef, potatoes, savoy greens, yorkshire pud and gravy
-Lamb loin with garlic potatoes and roast root veg
-Chicken wrapped in pancetta, dauphinoise potatoes, beans and pesto
-Seabass in a dill and fennel butter, potatoes and asparagus

Pudding:
-Salted caramel brownie with vanilla ice cream
-Cranachan with double cream, oatmeal brittle and honey
-Blueberry and vanilla cheesecake
-Strawberry and passion fruit cheesecake
-Mixed berry eton mess
-Tiramisu cheesecake
-Apple tart tatin with cinnamon butterscotch sauce and creme anglaise
-Pear and rhubarb crumble

As you can see I'm having most trouble narrowing down desserts haha. My partner and I love food and not fussy so would like to go with what would be popular (he does want the roast beef included though which I agree with!). Any vegetarians/vegans will be catered for separately. Thanks :)

Scotch egg
Lamb
Brownie or cranachan

ivykaty44 · 09/02/2022 14:14

Tomato mozzarella
Beef

Eton mess

Reason being having worked in hospitality

Most will pick beef

Starter is light and can’t go wrong

Pudding is light

Tbh 2 courses would be fine

User237845 · 09/02/2022 14:14

I'd go for a light and heavier option for each course so: -

smoked salmon or scotch egg
lamb or sea bass
cranachan or tarte tatin

Does mean some people will have double fish but it's one meal. All options look absolutely delicious, OP, don't worry too much!

CrimbleCrumble1 · 09/02/2022 14:15

Salmon or scotch egg
Beef or chicken
Blueberry cheesecake or apple tart.

Inextremis · 09/02/2022 14:15

Scotch egg or smoked mackerel

Beef or chicken

Cranachan or tarte tatin

thisplaceisweird · 09/02/2022 14:16

Sausage salad at the wedding is a bit wtf
I would do:

Smoked salmon Tomato/mozz

Beef Chicken

Brownie
Eton Mess

GoBrookeYourself · 09/02/2022 14:17

For the starter- tomato dish as you may need a vegetarian option and the scotch egg.

Main- I would go seabass and lamb loin. The beef (to me) is too similar to a Sunday lunch.

Pudding- Eton mess and brownie. People who have a sweet tooth can go for the brownie and if not, the Eton mess.

That’s what I’d personally pick!

GoBrookeYourself · 09/02/2022 14:17

Oops just noticed you mentioned about vegetarians being catered for separately sorry!

AryaStarkWolf · 09/02/2022 14:19

Scotch Egg & Smoked Salmon

Lamb & Chicken (even though I know you're going with the beef :p )

Eton Mess & Brownie

Qwill · 09/02/2022 14:20

I’d say chicken over beef, it looks like it would be better mass catered. Unless you are only having a few people? Roasts out are usually disappointing, especially when mass produced.

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 09/02/2022 14:21

No way I can only choose 2, but can I come to your wedding?!

brieislife · 09/02/2022 14:21

I’d personally choose mackerel or scotch egg, lamb or chicken, then apple tarte tatin or eton mess.

Comedycook · 09/02/2022 14:21

For the main I'd definitely go for beef ..then either the chicken or fish. Personally I prefer lamb but I think beef is more widely preferred

Pedalpushers · 09/02/2022 14:24

I'd go for one safe/boring option and one more adventurous for each course, and try and get a bit of a taste of Scotland into the menu seeing as it's there.

Starter: haggis scotch egg or tomato/mozzarella salad

Main: beef (as that's your choice) or seabass. I would never go lamb at a wedding - nearly everyone is fussy about it even if they like it and done en masse it often isn't great.

Dessert: cranachan or blueberry cheesecake

HamsterTrumpet · 09/02/2022 14:25

I’d go for:

Smoked salmon
Tomato mozzarella

Beef
Seabass

Brownie
Eton Mess

itwasntaparty · 09/02/2022 14:26

Any veggies / vegans?

I dont eat fish, or eggs, the only starter I could eat would be the tomato / mozarella but I am more than happy to forgoe a starter over my food issues!

The beef sounds lovely but do yon want a roast dinner in your -too tight in my case-- wedding outfits, chicken sounds lighter and then the sea bass.

Eton Mess and crumble for desert.

HeyItsPickleRick · 09/02/2022 14:26

I agree with @AryaStarkWolf 's choices. Essentially light/heavier, light/heavier, fruity and creamy/chocolately

RunningFromInsanity · 09/02/2022 14:27

You ALWAYS include Brownie as a dessert. It should be law.

I like the idea of the haggis scotch egg too

Rosieposie101 · 09/02/2022 14:29

I'd pick:
Starters:

-Smoked salmon with dill creme fraiche, capers and soda bread

-Tomato with bufallo mozzarella and rocket pesto on souordough

Mains:
-Sirloin of beef, potatoes, savoy greens, yorkshire pud and gravy

-Chicken wrapped in pancetta, dauphinoise potatoes, beans and pesto

Pudding:
-Salted caramel brownie with vanilla ice cream

-Strawberry and passion fruit cheesecake

Picking for me, I'd have:

Potted mackerel
Sea bass
Cranachan

Picking for wide appeal, I would go:

Scotch egg / Tomato & mozzarella
Beef for your husband (I'd pick chicken for general) / Sea bass
Brownie / strawberry cheesecake

duvetdayforeveryone · 09/02/2022 14:31

Another consideration is cost. What is the least it could cost and what is the most it could cost?

Tillsforthrills · 09/02/2022 14:31

Chicken should definitely be an option seconded by beef.

foreverandalways · 09/02/2022 14:33

I would try to choose a warm and cold option for each course

TheFlis12345 · 09/02/2022 14:34

What a fantastic menu choice! I would go for:

Starters:
-Smoked salmon with dill creme fraiche, capers and soda bread
-Tomato with bufallo mozzarella and rocket pesto on sourdough
(The scotch egg sounds amazing but so many people don’t like - or think they don’t like - haggis)

Mains:
-Sirloin of beef, potatoes, savoy greens, yorkshire pud and gravy
-Chicken wrapped in pancetta, dauphinoise potatoes, beans and pesto
(Personally I’d prefer lamb but these are the crowd pleasers)

Pudding:
-Salted caramel brownie with vanilla ice cream
-Mixed berry Eton mess
