Most outrageous dress code?

Shock Angry[ I'd like to think this dress code isn't real, but it is totally real and I think is just appalling. AIBU to think this is completely awful and out of date (and also where am I going to find black strappy shoes in a hurry?!). It's our new local opening in Leatherhead, Surrey. Unbelievable.

Most outrageous dress code?

It's awful but I think what they've tried to say is dressier jeans are allowed, men aren't allowed jeans either

Justcallmebebes · 09/02/2022 10:49

That writing is way too small for me to read. What does it say???

FatFredsFriedEgg · 09/02/2022 10:57

Dress code is smart casuals with jackets for men, no tracksuits, no t-shirt and women can wear skinny jeans with sexy black ankle-strap heels and with a form-fitting top.

Alternatively, there are many different types of dresses that would look good at a bar in the summer or winter, namely a midi or bodycon dresses

Anyone is welcome into the resto bar, but you won’t be allowed entry if you wear hoodies, trainers, shorts, flip flops or any other sportswear.

DappledThings · 09/02/2022 10:59

Is this somewhere you want to go? Sounds like a random bar opening rather than a specific event you've been invited to. It's obviously ridiculous but if it isn't a specific party or something you want to go to then you don't need to go and find new shoes, just go out somewhere less up its own arse.

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 09/02/2022 10:59

Blimey, I think some bloke living in his mum's basement has written this "dress code" trying to live out some fantasy.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 09/02/2022 11:03

What about if you can't wear heels as you have the balance of a newborn giraffe on roller skates? Grin

MrsEricBana · 09/02/2022 11:06

Well if it's not a joke don't go and hope no one else does either.

merryhouse · 09/02/2022 11:22

I read it as you can wear jeans if you have the "right" shoes with them - otherwise it has to be a dress.

The "alternatively" comes after the shoe description, so if you're in a dress it doesn't apply.

merryhouse · 09/02/2022 11:22

(although - yeah, don't think I'd bother. this is a place to go to Look Sexy, not to enjoy yourself)

AgathaMystery · 09/02/2022 11:22

This is also being discussed on the FWR boards

LaurieFairyCake · 09/02/2022 11:26

I don't get the no t-shirts - most people wear t-shirts in summer (men and women) Confused

FigitBit · 09/02/2022 11:30

Where’s the Daily Mail when you need them

LittleGwyneth · 09/02/2022 11:34

I would politely question it on their social media channels. It's probably just that someone clueless wrote it and no-one picked up on it. But yes, it's absolutely gross. And what they're describing isn't even an especially nice outfit. Very 2008.

Thatswhatmamasaid · 09/02/2022 11:37

Some low calibre control freak must have written that. What a load of BS!

Jvg33 · 09/02/2022 11:38

I wouldn't give them my custom. Too many rules.

Dishwashersaurous · 09/02/2022 11:39

It's badly written but it's simply saying that jeans with heels and a top are OK. Eg it's a dressy bar.

TakeMeToYourLiar · 09/02/2022 11:40

I work in Leatherhead. They're not going to get the after work crowd with those policies. And NO ONE is going to travel there for a night out!!

Dishwashersaurous · 09/02/2022 11:43

I'm almost wondering if the whole place is some criminal front now, and they don't actually want anyone in there

Hrpuffnstuff1 · 09/02/2022 11:45

Back in the day dress codes were strictly enforced.
Lots of bars and clubs had dress codes, the most selective had door pickers.
Didn't look right you were refused entry or asked to leave the queue.
We used to have a policy for our club nights.
Exclusive not inclusive it's a great way to drum up business.

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 09/02/2022 11:49

IN THE AFFLUENT, LEAFY SUBURB OF LEATHERHEAD

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Dishwashersaurous · 09/02/2022 11:49

Did anyone else remember blokes putting their socks over their trainers to get into nightclubs?

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 09/02/2022 11:50

Not if everyone just says "fuck that"

godmum56 · 09/02/2022 12:05

hilarious.
