Not to want "OUTSTANDING CLITORAL STIMULATION" at the top of every page on here?

Yes, Mumsnet has to make money.

Yes, orgasms are great.

But AIBU to be slightly uncomfortable with seeing "Outstanding clitoral stimulation.” Best sex toys from Ann Summers to heat things up this winter at the top of every damn page? Pretty sure threads from the Sex topic don't appear in Active Convos so why is this OK? I don't need to see it every single time. Sometimes I just want to have a quick look for parking threads and CF drama without having to scroll past "Outstanding clitoral stimulation.” Best sex toys from Ann Summers to heat things up this winter. It's unnecessarily explicit.

Someone did complain back in October, but MN never came back with a proper response.

AIBU or should I accept the constant presence of "Outstanding clitoral stimulation.” Best sex toys from Ann Summers to heat things up this winter. ?

@HorseInTheHouse on that point I agree - though nothing wrong with a bit of variety!

Ncwinc · 07/02/2022 12:48

’The pearl clutching on this thread is bonkers, and part of the reason that so many women have such fundamentally unsatisfactory sex lives.’

I think men are the main reason that so many women have such fundamentally unsatisfactory sex lives.

Choosing to use that line as an advertisement is clunky and does sound like Alan Partridge or a Cillit Bang ad as PPs have said. It’s what I’d expect from Ann Summers. Other companies have a more modern approach that doesn’t seem at best tone deaf and at worst seedy.

MsAgnesDiPesto · 07/02/2022 12:50

It’s gone! Thanks to all who raised it.

Xenia · 07/02/2022 12:56

I have have Adblock Plus and Ghostery - both are free of charge to download and that seems to mean I see no ads on MN.

BIWI · 07/02/2022 13:01

But this post wasn't an ad @Xenia. It was at the top of Active Conversations, labelled 'content' like the one that's there currently about bamboo socks.

It's sponsored content which is different from the advertising that you can hide with Ad blocker (or by being a premium member of MN)

shinynewapple22 · 07/02/2022 13:19

I have never seen this apart from in capitals in the title of this thread Grin

shinynewapple22 · 07/02/2022 13:19

Is this on the web page rather than the app?

Cantfindausernamethatsnottaken · 07/02/2022 13:27

It annoys me too.

Cornettoninja · 07/02/2022 13:36

I couldn’t even consider whatever sex toy it is they’re trying to promote. I’d always be thinking ‘well that was some outstanding clitoral stimulation’ Grin. Not quite the jolly mood I want to aim for.

Yes, well it is an ad but a much more persistent one. It's like the MN equivalent of the ones they bind in to the Radio Times between the pages (or those weird holiday bond ones they gloy-paste in) - another league entirely to the loose ones that just get shaken out before the magazine even leaves the shop!

colouringindoors · 07/02/2022 14:33

Mumsnet might like to consider informing this advertiser that their ad headline is not proving popular Grin

onedayoranother · 07/02/2022 15:02

Havent seen it - not on my phone or iPad.

Chichimcgee · 07/02/2022 15:05

We’ve gone back to recipes and socks now, phew 🤣

runsmidgeOMG · 07/02/2022 15:09

Oh what ?!
All I've got is a banner add for a tank museum (which is taking bookings for half term btw !)

Confused
RustyBear · 07/02/2022 15:34

@MsAgnesDiPesto - I have far more options than that - I wonder whether Mumsnet have removed some of them? Though it's still showing on mine. Sorry I can't help.

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 07/02/2022 16:35

Hello everyone. Thanks for your feedback! We've changed the title to something a bit tamer/less shouty/clitoris-y. It now reads: "11 best sex toys for Valentine's Day from Ann Summers'."

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 07/02/2022 16:44

Thank you, @YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet Grin

I'll let the other half know that Valentine's Day is now to be known as OUTSTANDING Clitoral Stimulation Day.

(My clitoris went numb once after I accidentally sprayed it with that freezing spray for muscle sprains. He still thinks it's hilarious, eight years on. Luckily it defrosted eventually.)

In fairness that is very funny, however I must ask how....

Thank you @YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet for toning it down Flowers - the new headline is a definite improvement.

I hated it too. Thank you for starting this thread.

Juniper68 · 07/02/2022 19:41

@SpinningTheSeedsOfLove what did you think you were spraying it with?

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 07/02/2022 20:14

I'll try and do a diagram.

HelloFrostyMorning · 07/02/2022 20:15

Thanks YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet... I will hide this thread now so it doesn't keep popping up on my 'watched threads.' Thanks for starting it @TheOccupier
