Not to want "OUTSTANDING CLITORAL STIMULATION" at the top of every page on here?

Yes, Mumsnet has to make money.

Yes, orgasms are great.

But AIBU to be slightly uncomfortable with seeing "Outstanding clitoral stimulation.” Best sex toys from Ann Summers to heat things up this winter at the top of every damn page? Pretty sure threads from the Sex topic don't appear in Active Convos so why is this OK? I don't need to see it every single time. Sometimes I just want to have a quick look for parking threads and CF drama without having to scroll past "Outstanding clitoral stimulation.” Best sex toys from Ann Summers to heat things up this winter. It's unnecessarily explicit.

Someone did complain back in October, but MN never came back with a proper response.

AIBU or should I accept the constant presence of "Outstanding clitoral stimulation.” Best sex toys from Ann Summers to heat things up this winter. ?

Is that what the top panel says? Mine never gets beyond a caching symbol, and I just page down to avoid the waste of bandwidth.

The benefit of slow broadband. At least now I know Grin

@Viviennemary

I hate it. Really offensive to a lot of women IMHO. I clicked on it. Absolutely vile.
Why? Genuinely? Women without a clitoris? Confused
Fetchthevet · 06/02/2022 22:05

@Zazdar

What am I missing?
You're missing outstanding clitoral stimulation...
MichaelAndEagle · 06/02/2022 22:06

@Latenightreader

I agree - it vanished briefly but reared its head once more. What makes it worse is I’ve clearly had a fat fingered moment and clicked whilst scrolling so it looks as if I read it when I haven’t! Not that anyone else will be looking at my mums et, but…
This has also happened to me!
Concestor · 06/02/2022 22:06

YANBU. I hate it too. My kids often look at my phone while I'm scrolling and I don't want to have to explain that to them.

Etinoxaurus · 06/02/2022 22:08

Hahaha! Me too and no it’s not hideable.

Same here! I don't find it offensive, but totally inappropriate for the site

OK, I can see how people might question whether or not it's appropriate, but how is it actually offensive?
formalineadeline · 06/02/2022 22:09

I find it surreal mostly. Especially the juxtaposition with the other pinned post.

Lougle · 06/02/2022 22:11

I don't see ads. Android Chrome. It blocks intrusive ads so I just see 'advertisment'. It's very nice 😊

formalineadeline · 06/02/2022 22:12

Actually on reloading Active it's now appearing next to the one about bamboo socks...

toots111 · 06/02/2022 22:12

On the feminist chat page there is a pinned ad about stairgates or cupboard locks or something that is in the middle of the list of chats and it just feels so out of place in among the very deep and thoughtful posts about women’s rights. Puzzles me every time.

Im2022 · 06/02/2022 22:13

I also find the title really inappropriate, especially when some of us are having to be extra careful with how much energy we’re using and having to take water bottles to bed. Like buying a sex toy is really going to keep me warm during the winter isn’t it 🙄

Darley368 · 06/02/2022 22:14

I dislike it too. Just no need to have that so prominently displayed.

So do I. This is beneath the blank ADVERTISEMENT banner.

Offensive seems a tad extreme Confused

It's irritating, but not offensive IMO.

BruceAndNosh · 06/02/2022 22:15

"outstanding" always makes me think "standing outside"
I'm sure that wanking in public constitutes an offence!

user1471443411 · 06/02/2022 22:16

It looks like it has gone now, thanks for starting this thread, I completely agree it is not appropriate.

Ladywoodster · 06/02/2022 22:16

Yes! Yes! Yes! Oh yes!

....get rid of it, I don't like it either

Yes, my nearly teenage boy will often be next to me when I pop on here. We have honest and robust conversations but I'm not sure I want to have that one yet/at all?

Also it had an ad previously for the same thing, but with less obvious language. So the advertiser is clearly pushing for more clickoral stimulation. Which annoys me.

user1471443411 · 06/02/2022 22:17

I spoke too soon it's back again.

Chichimcgee · 06/02/2022 22:18

Haha! I’ve been thinking the exact same!

marqueses · 06/02/2022 22:20

I thought I read that earlier then it was gone which made me think I'd imagined it but now it's back.

It is a bit in yer face, oh-er missus Grin

MsMarple · 06/02/2022 22:20

I agree - it’s not appropriate content for the top of the front page. I don’t want to have to worry about my kids (or anyone come to think of it) looking over my shoulder and seeing that!

AuntieStella · 06/02/2022 22:20

It annoys me too.

Not because of what this one is about. But because you can't hide the contact links, no matter how uninterested you might be in them
