Not to want "OUTSTANDING CLITORAL STIMULATION" at the top of every page on here?

Yes, Mumsnet has to make money.

Yes, orgasms are great.

But AIBU to be slightly uncomfortable with seeing "Outstanding clitoral stimulation.” Best sex toys from Ann Summers to heat things up this winter at the top of every damn page? Pretty sure threads from the Sex topic don't appear in Active Convos so why is this OK? I don't need to see it every single time. Sometimes I just want to have a quick look for parking threads and CF drama without having to scroll past "Outstanding clitoral stimulation.” Best sex toys from Ann Summers to heat things up this winter. It's unnecessarily explicit.

Someone did complain back in October, but MN never came back with a proper response.

AIBU or should I accept the constant presence of "Outstanding clitoral stimulation.” Best sex toys from Ann Summers to heat things up this winter. ?

It’s bugging the life out of me too

Workworld · 06/02/2022 22:46

After decades, if not hundreds, of having the importance of men's sexual pleasure shoved down our throats (quite literally), I really can't get worked up at some female sexual products advertised on a mainly female site. Men don't have a clitoris you do know that right? Grin

HunkyPunk · 06/02/2022 22:47

Get rid if it. I clicked on a similar one a few weeks ago, thinking I’d be able to hide it, but no.

EllaVaNight · 06/02/2022 22:48

Every time I see it I think "ugh that doesn't sound sexy at all". It makes me think of penetration man whispering in your ear "are you ready to receive some outstanding clitoral stimulation". Boak.

YesitsBess · 06/02/2022 22:49

@Workworld

Eh? Inappropriate? Vile? Offensive?

A product for the sole sexual pleasure of women and their bodies, not mens advertised on a predominantly female forum?

I think you all need to grow up.

Three pages and counting of people would disagree with you. We all know how to find the sex boards if we want to.

It's like trying to online shop at a major grocery store (who also stock viagra at the pharmacy and tingly lube on the shelves) and having a klaxon go off every time you log on shouting "DO YOU NEED SONE TINGLY LUBE TO DISTRACT YOU FROM THE FACT THAT YOUR HEARING BILL IS ABOUT TO GO UP BY 60%?"

Energy companies are being forced into grovelling apologies for suggesting we do star jumps and hug a kitten to keep warm. I'm not excusing Ann Summers for implying we should wank ourselves out of winter fuel bills thankyou very much.

YesitsBess · 06/02/2022 22:49

*heating not hearing.

A slip on how fucking tone deaf the ad is maybe...

Workworld · 06/02/2022 22:50

Well. Looks like it just been zapped. To be replaced with 'best store cupboard recipes'. And they say we don't need feminism anymore... Hmm

NinaDefoe · 06/02/2022 22:51

Agree OP.

Ncwinc · 06/02/2022 22:51

Like the PP, it amuses me because Love Honey is much better for toys - partly because it has a totally different vibe Wink to Ann Summers.

Thewindwhispers · 06/02/2022 22:52

Right?!

I feel both patronised and repulsed. Wtf has happened to Mumsnet.

Yanbu.

formalineadeline · 06/02/2022 22:52

Nah, they're on rotation each time you load Active.

Momicrone · 06/02/2022 22:53

It's literally the last thing I think of when I look on mumsnet, I hate it

YesitsBess · 06/02/2022 22:53

It's still there. Maybe @MichaelMumsnet has started checking it out now though?
Momicrone · 06/02/2022 22:54

It's a quote do some one actually wrote it somewhere

phoenixrosehere · 06/02/2022 22:54

I didn’t even notice it until you mentioned it. I ignore the ads at the top. Not bothered since I can easily scroll down to the actual threads.

queenMab99 · 06/02/2022 22:55

I think I would prefer something a little more subtle, perhaps it's my age, but that ad puts me right off!

TheRealHousewife · 06/02/2022 22:58
@TheRealHousewife you’re obviously not ready for outstanding clitoral stimulation until your plumbing is sorted Grin
Actually there is some truth in what you wrote 😅

HorseInTheHouse · 06/02/2022 22:59

I totally agree, it's annoying and off-putting. But it has probably been worth it to get this thread which made me laugh out loud a few times.

CitrusPocket · 06/02/2022 23:02

@Haffiana

What's this? Doesn't everyone come to AIBU for a quick (but outstanding) wank?
No but it has given a whole new meaning to Flouncers’ Corner.
DePfeffoff · 06/02/2022 23:03

@MintJulia

Is that what the top panel says? Mine never gets beyond a caching symbol, and I just page down to avoid the waste of bandwidth.

The benefit of slow broadband. At least now I know Grin

Ah, that would explain why I haven't seen it - I too just get the everlasting circle.

This ^^. I'm really surprised because I thought I'd open the thread and the vast majority would say the OP is being very unreasonable. You live and learn! Confused
crackofdoom · 06/02/2022 23:04

I have read OUTSTANDING CLITORAL STIMULATION so many times this weekend that I'm feeling REALLY QUITE SORE right now.

DustyMaiden · 06/02/2022 23:04

Not on my page.

Figgyroller · 06/02/2022 23:04

I so agree. Really annoying and just jarring on the page.

WaningMoon · 06/02/2022 23:06

It is a little bit ‘More’ magazine isn’t it - like look at how cool we are talking about clitoral stimulation.

And if this was one of the more male orientated forums then I would find it really grim and off putting if there was a load of stuff about wanking on the top board. Wanking, like sex, is perfectly natural and normal, but there is a time and place to talk about it!

And honestly I find Ann Summers awful for 2 reasons - firstly as a PP described the naff smutty outfits, and also the MLM aspect.

Ann Summers is not empowering women, it is contributing to over sexualised pornified ideals which are harmful to women.
