Not to want "OUTSTANDING CLITORAL STIMULATION" at the top of every page on here?

TheOccupier · 06/02/2022 21:53

Yes, Mumsnet has to make money.

Yes, orgasms are great.

But AIBU to be slightly uncomfortable with seeing "Outstanding clitoral stimulation.” Best sex toys from Ann Summers to heat things up this winter at the top of every damn page? Pretty sure threads from the Sex topic don't appear in Active Convos so why is this OK? I don't need to see it every single time. Sometimes I just want to have a quick look for parking threads and CF drama without having to scroll past "Outstanding clitoral stimulation.” Best sex toys from Ann Summers to heat things up this winter. It's unnecessarily explicit.

Someone did complain back in October, but MN never came back with a proper response.

AIBU or should I accept the constant presence of "Outstanding clitoral stimulation.” Best sex toys from Ann Summers to heat things up this winter. ?

I only see an advert for Victorian Plumbing 🤷‍♀️ 😬

IcicleIcicle · 06/02/2022 22:23

Thank you! Been bothering me for days.

Chichimcgee · 06/02/2022 22:24

@TheRealHousewife you’re obviously not ready for outstanding clitoral stimulation until your plumbing is sorted Grin

stinkycheeseman · 06/02/2022 22:28

I would love OUTSTANDING CLITORAL STIMULATION quite frankly

ThinkThereShouldBeSnow · 06/02/2022 22:29

This thread was worth it for the outstanding standing outside Grin

ThatsANameChanger · 06/02/2022 22:29

I agree. I imagine many of us use mumsnet with children in the vicinity - it's not appropriate or necessary.

And although I've managed to avoid accidentally opening that particular one, I agree with the pp about clumsy clicking making you look like you've read things that you didn't! I live in fear of dying suddenly, and someone looking through my phone and seeing a thread in purple font that i DIDN'T WANT TO CLICK ON. I'd be embarrassed from beyond the grave. I want people to know, on my death, that I only came here for the intellectual um...stimulation...

TheOccupier · 06/02/2022 22:29

It's not a banner ad, it's actually in the thread list, pinned at the top. But it's not a thread, it's an article (well, an advertorial listicle of Ann Summers buttplug kits and the like), so there's no "hide" option even if you click into it.

Perhaps if MN insist on rubbing (fnar) "Outstanding clitoral stimulation.” Best sex toys from Ann Summers to heat things up this winter in our faces we'll eventually become... desensitised?
Coincidentally, something like that actually happened to me a few years back when I bought my first and last rabbit vibrator. Had to throw it away in the end.

It's as if mumsnet think our lives depend on orgasms Confused

Workworld · 06/02/2022 22:32

Eh? Inappropriate? Vile? Offensive?

A product for the sole sexual pleasure of women and their bodies, not mens advertised on a predominantly female forum?

I think you all need to grow up.

BuanoKubiamVej · 06/02/2022 22:32

I don't see pinned posts. There's something in settings where you csn switch off seeing pinned posts but I think you can only get to that bit of settings if you log in on the desktop site rather than on a mobile.

fluffythedragonslayer · 06/02/2022 22:35

I agree!!! I also clicked hoping I could hide it. I don't want it!!

oakleaffy · 06/02/2022 22:35

Only on the phone app.
I thought ''Whattt??''

Obviously a company selling sex toys.

I didn't follow the link.

WaltzingToWalsingham · 06/02/2022 22:37

I agree, OP. I'm perimenopausal and have zero interest in sex but like PPs, I had a fat-fingered moment and clicked on it accidentally. Enough already!

Itwasntmeright · 06/02/2022 22:37

Didn’t you know it’s progressive to have explicit sexual language prominently displayed on a parenting website? You should be using it to stimulate an unboundaried sexually explicit conversation with your three year old. Haven’t you been leaving your sex toys around the house for them to explore with? You’re all such sex shaming prudes.

YANBU OP, it’s inappropriate.

Literally this!! I was scrolling through wondering if anyone was going to say people need to get a serious grip of life. It really isn’t the end of the world
Snoopsnoggysnog · 06/02/2022 22:40

Yeah I’m no prude but I’m getting sick of seeing this every time I open active threads. Get it off, MNHQ.

Also I don’t need toys for simulation - my DH doesn’t need any help thanks Grin

5keletor · 06/02/2022 22:42

Yep, very annoying.

Workworld · 06/02/2022 22:42

Don't want your children to see it over your shoulder?

I assume you've flagged other active threads too e.g the one titled 'Penis Envy'
and ones with swearing in. I believe there's currently one in active with the word 'shit' in it

Best we censor all thread titles of anything sexual, sweary, or non-parenting based in case a posters child is looking over their shoulder

HotPenguin · 06/02/2022 22:42

It makes me imagine some sort of pnuematic drill hammering away at my clitoris, no thank you! It's quite off putting.

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 06/02/2022 22:44

It's like those fucking SOCKSHOP bamboo socks but frankly I'm not into having an image of another woman thinking "ooh that is OUTSTANDING clitoral stimulation, I'll write a review for mumsnet" at the top of the list for weeks on end.
Please, a bit of variety.

AgathaMystery · 06/02/2022 22:44

YANBU. I absolutely hate it.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 06/02/2022 22:44

MN are sex people - run away!

We are a certain boring demographic, though: it would be interesting to see an adjacent thread title reading "Outstanding hot chocolate: Best warm mug-fillers from Waitrose to heat things up this winter" - I can guess which one would get far more hits Grin

FOJN · 06/02/2022 22:45

I hadn't noticed it until you pointed I out. I had a look it's not a great list.

I would love OUTSTANDING CLITORAL STIMULATION quite frankly

Lelo Sona

You're welcome Grin

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 06/02/2022 22:45

Get it off, MNHQ.

Don't encourage 'em Grin Grin Grin

ThisTownAintBigEnoughForBoth · 06/02/2022 22:46

I don't like it either. Too explicit and you can't hide it. Anne Summers are cringe and no friend to women, with their naff smutty outfits that belong in a carry on film. I'd send them packing if I were you, MN.
