This will be the one where he resigns, so if please keep the whatabout to a minimum.

For the 30 odd years that I have been using online forums, newsgroups and so on some posters have chosen to change their username. Sometimes this happens within a thread when they are losing an argument and then up pops another poster with a similar style to support them.

Thanks. Other forums that I have used stop that sort of thing by not allowing the same email address to be re-used, or (less commonly these days) the same IP address. The MN system does strike me as a bit old-fashioned, especially with its very limited facilities for threading and correcting after posting (some systems allow changes within 10 minutes, others allow changes at any time - which is less good and has potential for great confusion). Since the basic MN is ree, I guess it is churlish to complain.

@derxa

Just to be clear, are you agreeing *@derxa* that other crimes are fine as long as the police don't catch you as well? Absolutely.
Fucking hell *@derxa* - seriously? It’s OK to break the law as long as you don’t get caught? I’m genuinely shocked. I wonder what you’d say if someone stole your sheep?

Because that sort of person won't just create a new email address for the purpose?

So if it is the case that it being alright to break the law if the police don't catch you doing it doesn't apply to every law.

Does it apply to everyone who wants to break the covid laws, or just the Prime Minister and his mates?

Do you mean the one who doesn't seem to know how forums work, or the one who thinks that its ok to break the law if you don't get caught?

Likewise, filled up the bird feeder this morning, never ending stream of squirrels since then.

These threads remind me of the Brexit ones. Ridicule people who don't conform totally to the message. It's actually quite upsetting. However I will post on any thread I like within talk guidelines of course.

@derxa

what would have happened to you & a few of your friends if you'd had drinks and snacks together and then the Police had come round? I don't have any friends but if I did it's very unlikely that they'd be interested in some sixty year olds swigging sherry in a farmhouse in the middle of nowhere.
BJ wasn't swigging Sherry in the middle of no-where, he and his colleagues were mixing with the general public, directly and indirectly.

People like BJ not obeying these "non sensical" rules doubtless passed on Covid to my partners Nan, who then died.

Anyway, getting dark soon and i have a sheep or 10 my dog needs to chase up on Dartmoor, no harm done as she rarely bites them and the Police have far better things to do.. don't they?

Is one conforming if one expects that the Prime Minister will not break the law, including laws that his government have introduced even when there isn't a police officer there to tell him straightaway that he is breaking the law?

Not all forums work in the same way. But anyway, I get the distinct impression that new users are not welcome here. I'm sorry to have interrupted your little self-serving clique and hope you have fun in criticising and belittling anyone else who tries to join in. I was warned by the friend who suggested MN that it is "a nest of vipers" and I seem to have discovered that all too quickly.

The sheep enjoy it don't they, else why do they run away each time, with that smile on their faces?

And anyway its only a crime if the police catch you in the act.

@derxa I m not making fun of you, i'm just genuinely upset that people think these rules were a: nonsensical and b: ok to disobey.

I'm not saying that some CV rules were stupid and in some cases v cruel but not going to parties/social gatherings were sensible.

I have only been on one forum (well strictly a newsgroup) where it was not possible for the same poster to post under multiple identities. Now I accept that such forums might exist, but that is my experience.

Thats not true at all. I just don't take it too seriously and use the report function now instead of retaliating and getting banned!
DuncinToffee · 09/02/2022 16:23

Saying these rules were nonsensical is minimising rule breaking and quite insulting for everyone who followed them
