What the title says.

This will be the one where he resigns, so if please keep the whatabout to a minimum.

Ros Atkins summary of this week

Aaron Bell was probably predictable...doesn't his constituency abut the MP who crossed the floor can't remember his name

Notonthestairs · 04/02/2022 16:00

Checking in. Thanks jgw.

@GreenLunchBox - I read a snippet on Twitter ages ago (possibly as long ago as the beginning of this week) that Johnson loathes David Cameron and wants to be PM for longer - we might have a bit of a wait...

EmilyDickinson · 04/02/2022 16:04

I’d be surprised if Johnson resigned. He’s always had to be sacked so I don’t think he’ll go till the Conservative Party chucks him out. The process of sending letters to the 1922 committee is agonisingly slow. I wish we knew how close the number is to 54.

CryingAtTheDiscotheque · 04/02/2022 16:05

It's like a hostage situation really.
Love the ticking clock image...

Light relief for a Friday - Matt Green - Rishi Sunak and Energy Price Cap

Puzzledandpissedoff · 04/02/2022 16:08

Another one here who agrees he could be okay until May. MPs may not care about their constituents, but they care about their own cushy jobs and the thought of losing them could well do it

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/02/2022 16:13

It has invigorated me to get back into campaigning for the local elections.

DuncinToffee · 04/02/2022 16:16

The brilliant Rosie Holt for more laughs

Notonthestairs · 04/02/2022 16:17

Local elections aren't until 5th May. 😬

Tim Walker on Twitter suggesting the recent Downing Street resignations indicates there is more serious criminal activity to come out.

GreenLunchBox · 04/02/2022 16:17

Thought you fellow schadenfreuders would enjoy this. twitter.com/nytopinion/status/1489566060328198148?t=v0VlCHC4QxF-OjwF5-9Frg&s=19

Grawlix · 04/02/2022 16:21

Lest we forget......Johnson thinks Cameron is a 'girly swot'. I also read that Twitter comment, I think - that he won't go because he's determined not to be PM for less time than his fellow old-Etonian.

That's what it's come to.

WhatdoImean · 04/02/2022 16:23

The scariest thing of all...? I actually listened to Rosie Holt (never heard of her before - will look out in the future!!) and actually thought she was a Conservative MP..... THAT is how far down the Conservative party has come.

More fool me for not recognising satire, perhaps, but a terrible terrible commentary on the conservative party as well.

Mumoblue · 04/02/2022 16:28

He’s not going to resign, IMO. I think they’ll do the no-confidence thing. He’s stupid enough to think he can blag his way through this but I think the Tories see the writing on the wall.
Not that anyone else from that party leading will be much better, but I would still like to see him go.

Notonthestairs · 04/02/2022 16:33

I'd quite the BBC to push the fuck it button and let Matt Green, Rosie Holt and Jonathan Pie take over the news for an evening.
Put that bias in your pipe and smoke it Grin

Oh, that is a great outcome!

Seriously, I wish this was a U.K.-wide positive outcome.

I hope you have a brilliant time. 💐💐

Boris, resigning, I says doubtful,
Peregrina · 04/02/2022 16:36

Wasn't Aaron Bell the one who drove down to Kent and back for a family funeral, and couldn't hug his relatives, or even have a cup of tea with them, while in Downing Street they were partying? So he's got first hand experience of what many of his constituents have been through.

pussycatunpickingcrossesagain · 04/02/2022 16:37

Peregrina Yes, he was.

longwayoff · 04/02/2022 16:39

Seconded notonthestairs

merrymouse · 04/02/2022 16:40

It was also very obvious that Johnson couldn’t care less about Aaron Bell’s experience.

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 04/02/2022 16:54

I could see Johson sneakily instigating some Trumpian coup if he gets ousted. I don't think his sense of entitlement will allow him to go quietly. I know it tooks weeks to get him out of the Foreign Secretary's flat as he refused to leave.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/02/2022 16:56

Hopefully it's clear I'm campaigning for others! Grin

countrygirl99 · 04/02/2022 16:59

I imagine one of those nights thermometer signs you get for church roof appeals and the like. Every time a letter goes in a bit more red gets added.

derxa · 04/02/2022 17:01

@merrymouse

It was also very obvious that Johnson couldn’t care less about Aaron Bell’s experience.
Probably but do you care about his experience? Genuinely? Bereavement is a lonely process. Once the funeral is over no one really wants to know.
