This will be the one where he resigns, so if please keep the whatabout to a minimum.

@BoodyDedalus

TheABC: We have barely got going with the inquiries into the flat refurbishment

I thought that enquiry concluded in December, with the Tory party being fined £17,800 for failing to record accurately the donations made by Lod Brownlow?

My apologies. You are right about Lord Geidt’s inquiry and that of the Electoral Commission - they both concluded in Johnson's favour. I was thinking of Kathryn Stone ( parliamentary standards commissioner) as she hinted at an investigation. As nothing has come out this past month, perhaps it has all blown over.

Never mind. Guta Harri's pronouncements today have reassured me that Johnson's not going anywhere. :-D

BoodyDedalus · 07/02/2022 13:41

@BoreOfWhabylon

How can Barclay be Johnson's Chief of Staff AND a Cabinet Minister AND a constituency MP all at the same time?
One of the few things I agreed with that person trying to defend Johnson on the previous thread is that most ministers don't spend more than a few minutes in the departments that they theoretically run. Before being booted out at the last general election, our MP was a government minister. He held useful question and answer sessions in cafés around the constituency, and at the one I attended someone asked him how long he spent in the ministry - I try to drop in for half an hour on a Thursday morning, was his unabashed reply!

No wonder so many of them have second and even third jobs!

CSWife · 07/02/2022 13:52

@DuncinToffee

Phew, the new No 10 spokesman Guto Harri has just said that Johnson is not a complete clown

All is fine now

So us fools, the Great British public, are only worthy of an incomplete clown?

CryingAtTheDiscotheque · 07/02/2022 14:57

Why on earth has Johnson spent the day doing photo opps and causing disruption at yet ANOTHER hospital?

I assume it is we the taxpayers who are footing the bill for him to jet around campaigning with his dressing up box in tow.

(On the wallpaper, I think Cummings was hinting last week that there was more to come out about that ...)

Blossomtoes · 07/02/2022 14:59

He’s going to run out soon. Anything except get his head down and start running the country.

merrymouse · 07/02/2022 17:18

“And he said in his deep voice – slow and purposeful – starting to sing a little while finishing the sentence and saying: ‘I will survive.’

“I inevitably invited him to say: ‘You’ve got all your life to live,’ and he replied: ‘I’ve got all my love to give,’ so we had a little blast from Gloria Gaynor. No one expects that, but that’s how it was.””

Is Guto Harri Uncle Bryn from Gavin and Stacey?

BoodyDedalus · 07/02/2022 17:18

According to Guto Harri, Boris Johnson sang "I Will Survive" as he appointed Guto Director of Communications. I wonder if the PM had been at the bottle again? Shock

Oh excellent start, Guto. Become the story on day one and show your new boss up to be the buffoon he is. I wonder how long he’ll last.

merrymouse · 07/02/2022 17:33

If we need people to visit hospitals and shake hands without having any effect on policy or government, we already have the Royal Family.

I think it is important that Boris spends his time visiting hospitals. It stops him doing anything else. I just wonder if instead of wasting the time of the hospital staff he could perhaps visit sets of either Casualty or Holby City for his performances.

Guto Harri was a lobbyist for Huawei (among others) - really scraping the barrel aren't they!!

Yvette Cooper has today demanded that Johnson correct the record about his crime stats lies to parliament. I wonder if he will.

Don't be daft, it is perfectly acceptable to ignore some crimes in the statistics, especially if it is the sort of crime that your mates might be accused of which isn't really a crime at all, not like those idle partying scroungers who commit benefit fraud or are drunk and disorderly.

This is horrible, if true.

Reports that Keir Starmer had to be put in a police car after he was swarmed by a group of anti-vaxxers, some of whom were chanting about Savile and carrying a noose.

This is what happens when you have someone absolutely without limits of decency as the PM.

Blossomtoes · 07/02/2022 18:17

It’s being widely reported @thecatfromjapan. It’s an absolute disgrace.

CryingAtTheDiscotheque · 07/02/2022 18:19

Bloody hell 😡 no doubt inspired by Johnson’s lies and smears. Britain Trump.

Well I hope someone (not KS) brings that up at PMQs this week and insists The Clown apologises for his inflammatory comments.

BoreOfWhabylon · 07/02/2022 18:25

And that's why he did it.

It was planned in advance. We know this becuase the aide who resigned said she'd advised him not to say it.

Disgusting tactics.

thecatfromjapan · 07/02/2022 18:28

We are all diminished by this.

We all have to live in a U.K. degraded by this man.

I am so, so angry and disgusted.

derxa · 07/02/2022 18:29

.

Blossomtoes · 07/02/2022 18:32

Discussing this with a friend earlier. We were both brought up by very old school parents who were adults during the war and who instilled in us values like honesty and integrity. If they could see what’s happening to the country they fought to defend their hearts would break.

It’s gone beyond acceptable limits now.

merrymouse · 07/02/2022 18:33

Piers Corbyn is supposed to be a liability for Jeremy Corbyn, but I don’t think Jeremy Corbyn ever publicly fed him and his ilk conspiracy theories.

Truly horrific Totally agree that’s why he said it, egged on by JRM odious toad that he is.
DuncinToffee · 07/02/2022 18:46

That is horrific Angry Johnson and his defenders are inciting this by the lies they are telling.

Britain's Trump

That is chilling.

Poor Keir (and his family).

Boris is making this country less safe by the minute.
