Really ‘I share your pain’! Who is kidding and he knows full well we know how rich they are. His wife is worth 174 million and he is worth a few million himself. This government is disgusting. Slow clap for voting for a bunch of criminals

@Cherrybomb197

I don’t know... you can’t really “blame” him for being rich. He done well for himself (and married into a rich family). But being rich isn’t a fault unless you exploit others to get there
And you honestly believe he isn’t doing that ? What will it take for some people to wake up? Build back better? He knew about their fraud contacts, and they are all doing exactly that , exploiting others. Elon musk I have great respect for and he is far richer but these entitled corrupt politicians not at all. Time the system changed.

Yeah, I used to think he was a tiny bit better than Boris - might be hardworking and competent at least, but now I think he’s just trying to bribe people to like him whilst actually giving them nothing. Smarmy git.

HelloFrostyMorning · 03/02/2022 22:47

I used to like him, but yep I agree with ya @Chippingbird23

Fucking CLUELESS!

Viviennemary · 03/02/2022 22:49

He seems a nice enough man but knowing his circumstances it's all very hollow. My prediction is the Tories will be out after the next election.

RunnerDown · 03/02/2022 22:55

@evilharpy

I'm tying myself up in knots by thinking about how much I despise him, and his whole fucking party. The absolute hypocrisy. "I share your pain." He makes my skin crawl.
Totally agree with this. They constantly say that they “ understand the pain” but they have no clue. Entitled arrogant condescending idiots. He makes my flesh crawl too
TellerTuesday · 03/02/2022 22:55

Nothing quite as comforting as being told that it's going to be tough but we're all in it together by a millionaire 😏

Autumnleaves4 · 03/02/2022 23:10

I like him, he seems genuine and a decent guy.

You can’t dislike someone just because they’re rich, it’s not his fault what sort of family he was born into, it’s inverse snobbery.

Autumnleaves4 · 03/02/2022 23:12

What’s he meant to say, I know everyone else will be in pain but as I’m rich I won’t be able to feel it! Ha ha!

Snoozer11 · 03/02/2022 23:17

Self serving and condescending.

He addresses people as if he were speaking to primary school pupils.

Peregrina · 03/02/2022 23:39

I wonder how Sunak would feel if his bank accounts, (or offshore accounts) were hacked and his money was siphoned off. Would be be quite so sanguine as he has been with OUR MONEY being lost to fraud i.e. Stolen.

I don't think he would be as lazy as Johnson, I will grant him that, but that won't be difficult.

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 03/02/2022 23:47

@CMZ2018

Can’t do right for doing wrong can he? What do you want him to say? ‘I am considerably richer than yow’ or should he move into a council house in some shit hole estate and live on pot noodles before you’re happy?
Don’t be ridiculous - it’s just tone deaf him claiming to feel the reality of most peoples lives - he doesn’t have to live like an ordinary person - just not make the bogus lying claim he understands
daimbarsatemydogsbone · 03/02/2022 23:49

@Autumnleaves4

No - he just needs to stop pretending he cares.
ohMaggieMaggieMae · 03/02/2022 23:51

He reminds me of Norman Wisdom... nicer suits, though.

Supersimkin2 · 03/02/2022 23:52

I’m sure he’s kind and clever but he’s too rich for the job.

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 03/02/2022 23:53

@AuntyJanet

I don’t have a problem with him being rich. Hating someone because they’re rich is as bad as hating someone because they’re poor. What I do have an issue with is him pretending he feels everyone’s pain, like he’s worried about his gas bill too.
^exactly this, he could just say “this is what we are planning to do to help people” without pretending he understands what it’s like. I admit I don’t know how it feels to have to turn my fridge off to save money but I don’t try and fake it that I do.

Nothing to do with how rich he is, everything to do with how sincere he is.

@Corcory

Sunak is the son of an immigrant Doctor and pharmacist. He got a scholarship. So not brought up to 'privilege' He is very bright. I think he meet his wife at Harvard. So she must be bright too. Not her fault she is the daughter of a billionaire.
Billionaires' children can buy their way into Harvard. I used to teach at Cambridge; the correlation between access to institutions like Harvard or Cambridge and smarts gets overstated wildly.

Yes, you get a slightly higher percentage of brilliant people than elsewhere, but most students are good average and make it in because they are socialised and educated the right way. Clever but under-trained students who don't feel at home in this environment are risky and hard work.

Oh; and his father very likely was privileged if he could afford to train as a doctor in a country as unequal and predominantly poor as India. Even if he had to contend with racism in the UK.

PastMyBestBeforeDate · 04/02/2022 00:13

He's rich. Fair enough. But don't keep up the pretence that we're all in this together. It didn't wash in 2010. It really doesn't wash now.

But Sunak lived a privileged life. He was sent to prestigious schools and mixed only with those of money. I doubt his parents suffered hardships if they could afford to send him away to schools where he would only mix with the rich and elite.

Also remember, his parents came from Kenya: where Indian immigrants were placed to be a level higher than black people. There is a certain level of privilege held there too, even in their mind, that they were better than other people. If you follow Rajesh Thind on Twitter he explains the Priti Patel and her disdain for the immigrant mentality very well.

Yes being rich isn’t their fault, but when you’re taxing the poor and giving it to the rich it’s not a good look is it? My energy bill will go up to 250 a month. If someone like Sunak gave a shit, he would find a way to help lower costs for us like France have done. But he’s a rich prick with no idea. He’s never seen hard times.

AnyFucker · 04/02/2022 10:05

He needs to tone down the smirk. It’s not a good look.

SerendipitySunshine · 04/02/2022 10:05

He is so patronising. He gives every speech like he's talking to small children who couldn't possibly understand anything. Urgh.

Im2022 · 04/02/2022 10:06

Also, his billionaire wife received 1.3 million in covid relief funds, when she’s worth 430 million.

Being rich and then taking more when you know the country is in hard times. Disgusting.

Not to mention how much commercial property he owns and pushed for people to go back to work and to eat out and get infected. Rich prick.

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 04/02/2022 10:07

Exactly this - this government are reverse Robin Hoods

As a wag said, just watch the lad on the left when he realises he's the adult in the room ...
