White Rabbits

Help settle a very important debate with scientific data of an AIBU poll.

My colleague (hull) said that on the 1st month you say ‘white rabbit’ x 3 for good luck.
The rest of us (southern) had never heard it before.
So, have you heard it/do you say it, and if so, where in the country are you?

YANBU - Yes I say it, I’m northern
YABU - I say it and I’m southern

I’m Scottish but live on the south coast with a Midlands family. Never heard of this. The bit I’m missing in the Northern (English!) bit so maybe you’ve got something.

I'm Northern and say it. But I learned it from my mum who is a Southerner.

I say it and I'm southern

I have to say it twice - so White Rabbits White Rabbits. And it has to be the 1st thing I say (so if I wake up at after midnight I mutter it - then again properly in the morning just in case).

This is one of the many superstitions passed down by my mum (from London) - and I have not passed it to the kids as it drives me nuts.

If I get my Dad with PPFOTM then he'll reply with 'Rabbits, rabbits rabbits' which I've never understood!

Northern and haven't a clue what you are on about!

Northerner. Mum used to say it (pre 1990s,) but I say 'pinch punch first of the month' now... Me and DH see which one of us can get the other first!

I'm Welsh and I say it.

My dad used to say this he was from Kent we lived in Sussex.

Funny how there are so many variations!

My teacher in primary school told us it is "white rabbit, white rabbit, white rabbit" first thing you say on the first day of every month. never heard anyone else mention it ever, but 20 something years later i still do it when i remember, today i did not.

I'm going to skew the results as I don't say it but want to know the results!

My friend from the Midlands said it to me a few years ago. I’d never heard of it. (I’m northwest)

I'm northern but understand that it is meant to be the first thing you say on the 1st when you wake up, but only need to say it once.

I am northern as in northwest.

Southerner. Ive never ever heard someone say white rabbit before - not unless they have one as a pet!

Grew up in the North but have lived in the South for a couple of decades. Never heard of it.
