If/when he goes. I know many would would prefer someone other than a Tory to do so but let’s be realistic. Out of the front runners in the cabinet, who would you want to replace him ant why?

This thread is hilarious!

But nothing, nothing makes me want to puke in my hat more than thinking it could be Gove

Me too.

I would suggest an arsewipe, but we already have one of those.

Jeremy Hunt is about all l could tolerate.

AlexaShutUp · 27/01/2022 10:11

@1dayatatime

Yvette Cooper definitely. Assuming of course she even wants it...
I would love to see Yvette Cooper as PM. She is very competent and thoroughly decent.
Planetzero · 27/01/2022 10:14

I actually would trust Jackie Weaver more than the rest of them put together.

inheritancetrack · 27/01/2022 10:14

Mickey Mouse. Hed do a better job.

AlexaShutUp · 27/01/2022 10:15

I think Rishi Sunak .He seems very efficient and managed to decorate his No 11 apartment out of his own pocket!

Not exactly difficult when you're married to the daughter of a billionaire.

I'm not keen on Sunak. Eat out to help out was a disaster and the treasury has totally mishandled the issue of fraudulent covid loans.

1dayatatime · 27/01/2022 10:17

@AlexaShutUp

I totally agree - competent and decent, sadly a rare combination in Westminster these days.

I am amazed and saddened that she has not risen to the top in her political career, i can only assume (maybe naively) it's because she doesn't actually want the top job. But she has the qualities to be one of the best PM ever.

I think she certainly did want the top job because she stood against Jeremy Corbyn for the Labour leadership. I desperately wanted her to win then. I think we would have been in a very different place as a country right now if they had elected her.

Whether she still wants it now or not is a different question. I hope that her recent return to the front bench might be a sign that she hasn't given up yet?

We have bigger fish to fry right now he needs to stay and see us through more impending shite that is on the horizon - then we can have the next GE. Which is what happens in a demographic. the media should not be able to dictate who stays in power.

I am sick of hearing about sodding parties and cake when we are possibly going to war with Russia - this is real people and we need to be worried.

damelarue · 27/01/2022 10:29

Liz Truss

At least she knows what a vagina is and that it’s women who have them

So you prefer we have a useless lying twat in charge in case we "go to war with Russia" - which will never happen BTW.
Lockedoorsopen · 27/01/2022 10:34

@daimbarsatemydogsbone why wont it happen?

Liz Truss

Agree
LizzieSiddal · 27/01/2022 10:35

Keri Stammer, failing that, I haven’t a clue!

I hate them all.

ClumsyClaret · 27/01/2022 10:36

@Thirtytimesround

Hang on why can’t we have David Davies??
No - he's completely useless.

Jeremy Hunt - is the only one who comes across as remotely capable - but I wouldn't vote for any of them - so what do I know.

Andy Burnham, please.

Lockedoorsopen · 27/01/2022 10:45

Andy Burnham is currently putting huge strain on small businesses over in Manchester. Not a lot of people are a huge fan

Beck30 · 27/01/2022 10:46

@dottydodah

I think Rishi Sunak .He seems very efficient and managed to decorate his No 11 apartment out of his own pocket! Jeremy Hunt I really dislike .Vivid images of him sneaking around Hospitals checking on NHS staff springs to mind. Liz Truss not enough experience ,Micheal Gove just NO!
Not difficult to pay for decorating your flat when your partner's shares in Dad's company are worth about $900m.

Is the UK ready for a billionaire PM who is happy to write off £ billions of covid loans that were lost to fraud without even trying to recover them (presumably hoping to make the issue go away before the leadership contest)?

Are you happy that the media are able to dictate who gets into power in the first place?
Lockedoorsopen · 27/01/2022 10:58

HalfwomanHalfcookie frankly I don't care how he got there. He is there right now, the government is a fractured and a mess just as we are squaring up to the people we buy our fuel from and who are currently gearing up to fight Ukraine - who we have said we will support.

The Government are not going to hand power over to Labour. So instead there will be a vacuum of leadership if Boris leaves or booted off as there in NO ONE ready to take the role on.- who the fuck would want to take the role when they KNOW what Russia is about to do. No fucker will want that poisoned chalice.

Labour will not want that responsibility either, plus they are still a mess themselves.

We are in a really bad position. Shit on both sides .But the media needs to quit with pettiness now over cake and let them focus on the real issues (impending war with Putin)

ilovesooty · 27/01/2022 10:59

@HalfwomanHalfcookie

None of them. Unfortunately they got rid of the half decent ones to "Get Brexit done"
Spot on.
daisyjgrey · 27/01/2022 11:01

Miriam Margolyes.

user1497207191 · 27/01/2022 11:06

I think Rishi Sunak .He seems very efficient and managed to decorate his No 11 apartment out of his own pocket!

He excluded over 3 million self employed/freelancers from the covid support schemes, "due to risk of fraud" and then applied no checks/controls at all when handing out support/loans etc to fraudsters and people who didn't need the support. The billions lost to fraud would have been better given to the huge number of people who were financially crippled by the lockdowns, whose businesses had to close, and those who sadly took their own lives due to lack of support.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 27/01/2022 11:07

David Davies😂 Brexit knobhead extraordinaire.

Andy Burnham

Miriam Margolyes.
Labour are so out of touch, they'd probably think she'd be a successful leader!
LadyCatStark · 27/01/2022 11:09

I always think Grant Shapps comes across OK.
