sst1234 · 26/01/2022 21:50

If/when he goes. I know many would would prefer someone other than a Tory to do so but let’s be realistic. Out of the front runners in the cabinet, who would you want to replace him ant why?

OP posts:

Jeremy Hunt if I had to pick, definitely not Rishi, he just seems inexperienced and not great at speaking/interviews to me.

Roselilly36 · 27/01/2022 07:50

At much as it pains me to say it, there isn’t anyone. Not a Boris fan at all, but I really think it’s a case of better the devil you know at the moment.

BlowDryRat · 27/01/2022 07:50

Sajid Javid I think. He at least has some principles.

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 27/01/2022 07:55

@sst1234

Surprised no one said Liz Truss so far.
I saw her on tv recently being interviewed. She appears dead behind the eyes - she terrified me with her total lack of emotion/compassion/humour/humanity last time I saw that it was Thatcher.
EnjoyingTheSilence · 27/01/2022 07:58

There is no one in the current lot. They are all corrupt, have no morals or idea of what life is really like

I’m sure there are some good tories out there, but none of them in a position to take over right now.

setthecontrols · 27/01/2022 08:00

Sajid Javid seems the only grounded one- hope he gets a chance.

@LemonSwan

I am going to say Rishi. I thought he did really well with striking the balance on the COVID packages - and I say that as someone who missed out on any payments / support but he had to draw the line somewhere.
No, he didn't. Over 3 million denied support, many due to "risk of fraud" then they hand out BBL loans by the billion without any anti-fraud checks. He had an excuse at first due to the urgency but as months passed he just closed down and wouldn't listen to very valid complaints and stubbornly refused to change the criteria leavings lots of people financially crippled, viable businesses closing and numerous suicides.
MooSakah · 27/01/2022 08:02

Does anyone want to do it? I wouldn't.

DirtyDancing · 27/01/2022 08:05

Liz Truss has clearly had some coaching recently. If you look at her latest interview, dead pan, emotionless more cold... versa "pork markets" speech she's in complete contrast.

Rishi - too far removed from.. well life. Literally do not want an ex Chancellor to lead us though the next phase of austerity. The squeeze will be horrific on lower incomes. Sajid worries me for the same reason, although I have worked under him before and he was sound of judgement.

But nothing, nothing makes me want to puke in my hat more than thinking it could be Gove.

For all of the above.. Jesus the options are terrifying.

@Jenasaurus

Jackie Weaver
But she has no authorityGrinGrin
comfortablyfrumpy · 27/01/2022 08:19

I say Jackie Weaver too.Grin

I suspect we will end up with Rishi.

I wish I could name one I would actively want to take over, but I can't. That's shocking really. How have we got here?

hangrylady · 27/01/2022 08:23

Mr Blobby

Vampiremockumentary · 27/01/2022 08:24

Saj.

Howshouldibehave · 27/01/2022 08:30

Liz Truss has definitely been to ‘dead behind the eyes’ school-she looks like a frightening robot.

If I can’t have a different party in charge, (which I would vote for every time-not always the same party, just the best ‘not Tory’ candidate in the constituency), I’d probably go for Jeremy Hunt. And I hated him.

Billionaire Rishi Sinai is not the way forward and Gove, Patel, Raab, Dorries and Shapps are all odious, incompetent liars.

dillydallydollydaydream7 · 27/01/2022 08:31

Mr Bean

SarahBellam · 27/01/2022 08:34

Yeah, never thought I’d see the day but I’d have to go for Jeremy Hunt. At least he appears to be a grown up. An awful grown up, but a grown up nonetheless. At least he’s vaguely credible. The rest just look as act like large, spoilt, 8 year olds.

hariborabbit · 27/01/2022 08:37

If I had to pick someone I'd go for Sajid Javid.

Loving this probably get more sense from Daddy Pig
Newgirls · 27/01/2022 08:37

OP are you the cabinet? They might genuinely be on here to check the mood of the country 😬

I reckon Liz truss and then they will lose the general election and we can all celebrate 🎉

SarahBellam · 27/01/2022 08:38

@sst1234

Surprised no one said Liz Truss so far.
Liz Truss has the perpetual expression of someone out of their depth. She just comes across as waffly and a bit thick - a bit Mavis from Coronation Street. If she was a colour she’d be beige - mauve at a push.
itsgettingweird · 27/01/2022 08:40

I liked Rory Stewart

But yes Jeremy Hunt is probably the best

Newgirls · 27/01/2022 08:41

People are right - all the reasonable tories were got rid of. It’s all been very Trump/Don’t look up.

And now the ‘reasonable’ tories are being booted out in by-elections and will lose seats in a general because they have gone very quiet about boris and his corruption.

lumpofcomfort · 27/01/2022 08:42

Priti Patel or Michael Gove because surely nobody would vote for such unpleasant people therefore the Conservatives wouldn't win the next election (wishful thinking...)

Volterra · 27/01/2022 08:42

I also can’t believe I am saying this but Jeremy Hunt. All the current cabinet are tainted by association with Johnson and need to go alongside him.

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 27/01/2022 08:43

@Roselilly36

Still prefer Daddy Pig.
