Do you think guilty or innocent

OP posts:
CathyorClaire · 02/01/2022 08:51

I think he's guilty but I also think he doesn't now care about anything but making sure his sorry ass never gets hauled into court.

Even he can't be dim or arrogant enough to think his reputation and the much desired return to 'duty' will ever be restored even if the court case fails.

chaosrabbitland · 02/01/2022 08:52

guilty of being sleazy and keeping unsavoury company , but thats it , i dont know how he was supposed to know that virginia roberts was a sex slave that was trafficked so i dont believe her allegation that he raped her or whatever it is she saying , shes well in it for the money and shes made enough to set her up for life through her civil suits , i dont really believe half of what she says regarding shes a victim as i did read that other girls are now saying she was procuring girls as well . frankly the whole thing bores me now and hes getting a trial by media really , the events happened so long ago now theres no proof he actually did do anything wrong really . but im not a royalist by any means , i do feel for the poor old queen though , at her age she just doesnt need the stress its all bringing

Alondra · 02/01/2022 08:52
@Alondra your post is my favourite on this thread.

I know a little about the ex king and the family and how King Felipe is trying to bring back the spanish RF from the abyss.

And I love that quote. Yes, it is all about optics. The optics on PA have been absolutely appalling for decades. Backhanders, dodgy deals, cosying up to despots and arm dealers and rulers with dreadful human rights records and more.
Well... we are going through our Juan Carlos and Christina moment here in the UK.
The Queen in the UK still commands a lot of respect and it's one of the reasons why dodgy deals, friends with Arab nation despots who give great gifts and favours and looking the other way on human rights have been silenced by the press.

This can change at any moment either because there is change in government that's not prepared to look the other as it happened in Spain or the Queen's death.

Charles REALLY needs to make a ring of fire against Andrew before that happens. Otherwise the press is going to have a free for all.

merrymouse · 02/01/2022 08:54

@MissLucyEyelesbarrow

Guilty morally? Definitely.

Guilty beyond reasonable doubt of knowingly committing an act that is a crime in this country? Not sure.

Agree.

I don’t know if there is enough evidence to convict him of a crime after all these years.

However, he was personally the patron of more than one charity that was supposed to support young people, and the RF as a whole must be patrons of hundreds.

To turn a blind eye to what was going on under his nose is monstrous, and his newsnight interview made it very clear that he didn’t think that he had done anything wrong.

That kind of moral vacuum in such an institution can only be toxic for the country.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 02/01/2022 08:54

From 1960 to 1982, when Prince William was born, Andrew was 2nd in line to the throne. One nasty fall from a polo pony for Charles, and we would now be facing the prospect of King Andrew, with no mechanism for avoiding it unless Andrew chose to do the honourable thing (hah!) and abdicate.

TheKeatingFive · 02/01/2022 08:54

Yes. She's 'won' already in this regard.

chaosrabbitland · 02/01/2022 08:55

@TeloMere

I think he's innocent in that he's not very bright and probably thinks any girl would be thrilled to have sex with him. I don't think he knew that there was sex trafficking going on.

Unfortunately being guilty of arrogance and poor judgement isn't a criminal offence

i think this , i expect he thought the girls were paid prostitues were happy to be there for the money they were getting in return for providing sex
ShippingNews · 02/01/2022 08:55

@Opheliaterradaclte

Grim. people think an old man having sex with a ‘willing’ 16 year old is ok? That alone is very dodgy moral grounds.

Either some desperate royal family supporters here or someone with no knowledge about teenage development and vulnerability. Also she looked like a child! Yuck yuck yuck.

Not exactly an "old man", he was 40 at the time.
OnTheSafeSide · 02/01/2022 08:57

Just getting back to the Pizza Express matter - I do not understand the obsession with whether or not he was there - he said in the Newsnight interview that he was there at 4 or 5pm. Surely it is not inconceivable that he was there but ALSO in a nightclub later at midnight etc I am not sure how proving he was in Pizza Express precludes him from being with VG and AM etc that night too.

Maybe it is because if proven that he was not there it undermines his credibility, as proven to be a liar, maybe that is why the focus. Does anyone know, why does no-one mention that he could have been in Pizza Express and also with them later? Maybe it is because it is such an absurd, crisp memory of that non-event, compared to not remembering meeting VG 3 times etc, that is why people are picking up on it and pulling it apart?

Roussette · 02/01/2022 08:58

@chaosrabbitland disgusting post from you. And your post says more about you, than you can imagine.

Do you know anything about her previous life? Do you know anything about vulnerable young girls promised education, money, modelling contracts, what they could only dream of in a poor life? Some of them lived on trailer parks, some had addict parents, they were targeted and procured and promised the earth by GM and JE.

Your post has just rubbished all the victims experiences.

viques · 02/01/2022 08:58

Goodness, he must be innocent, I mean what loving father would invite an actively predatory paedophile, a woman who seeks out vulnerable children and farms them out for sex to her very rich friends, and a very rich and powerful man who spent his working life with his dick out telling aspiring actresses how to get on in Hollywood, to his daughters 18th birthday party?

I mean you wouldn’t would you, if you had the slightest inkling about them , no matter how much you enjoyed their hospitality, the free holidays, the private jets, the generous amounts of money they gave your dim ex wife, the backhanders they gave you, the kudos of being with the worlds rich and famous. Not unless you were very dim, had an ego the size of the planet and believed you were invincible because your mummy would stop any unpleasantness.

OnTheSafeSide · 02/01/2022 09:00

Also, how come if he was not really close friends with JE, (as he tried to imply his friendship was with GM, not JE, which has now back-fired) he needed to fly to NY and spend a few days with him to 'close' their non-friendship ... sounds like they were trying to get their ducks in a row/stories straight before the sht hit the fan.

Roussette · 02/01/2022 09:01

OnTheSafeSide I think you've got it spot on. If he can't prove he went to Pizza Express, that undermines his credibility even more than it has been already.

I bet he bitterly regrets that interview. There was so much information in it.

Alondra · 02/01/2022 09:01

*In Latin, Uxorem Caesaris tam suspicione quam crimine carere oportet

Caesar's wife must be free from suspicion, as well as accusation.*

You are right. One of the reason's why I didn't want to bring the original translation is because it has become obsolete these days.

The saying in Spain no longer focus/blame to the "wife" of the monarch/president/PM in the XXI century. We actually apply it to anyone getting public funds holding a position of authority and power.

TheKeatingFive · 02/01/2022 09:01

shes well in it for the money and shes made enough to set her up for life through her civil suits

Ah, paint the woman as gold digger. Oldest trick in the book for the rich, powerful men trying to get off scot free. How nice of you to back them up in this.

hes getting a trial by media really

Entirely fair enough given that it's highly unlikely he'll face justice like a normal person.

TheKeatingFive · 02/01/2022 09:03

I never understood the pizza express alibi in the first place. What would stop him going to the nightclub afterwards?

Roussette · 02/01/2022 09:05

viques totally agree. I've linked this picture before... this is his daughter's 18th birthday party at Windsor Castle that the Queen and various royals attended.

At that point, no one had been convicted, but their reputations, especially JE were dodgy. Why wasn't security or whatever you go through to attend a royal function... why weren't they looking into him? And Weinstein too

supermoonrising · 02/01/2022 09:06

The BBC interview was what happens when someone who has had his ass kissed his whole life comes to face to face with reality. Someone of huge privilege but at best average intelligence, foolishly believing that they can outsmart a genuinely clever journalist and the watching public.

Roussette · 02/01/2022 09:08

Keating I imagine it shows that if he was lying about this, he was lying about not going to Tramps too.
Far easier to push for proof of Pizza Express than attendance at a sweaty (!) posh nightclub at 1am

SpindleSpangle · 02/01/2022 09:08

@Sundancerintherain

The Behaviour Panel on you tube do a brilliant breakdown of his interview.
Yes, this is a facinating watch. Must watch it again, knowing what we now know about his friend Ghilaine Maxwell from her trial and guilty verdicts.
supermoonrising · 02/01/2022 09:09

If Andrew goes down, it’s possible the whole tower of cards might fall with him. There are a probably at least a dozen people of equal fame as Andrew who were also involved in Epstein linked shenanigans. Or maybe even dozens.

Roussette · 02/01/2022 09:09

supermoonrising Yes yes yes.

Maitlis is on record as saying he was buoyant straight after the interview, and offered to show her some of the State rooms. He felt it had gone really well and 'he had set the record straight'

Laughable. Arrogant fool.

TheKeatingFive · 02/01/2022 09:11

Maitlis is on record as saying he was buoyant straight after the interview, and offered to show her some of the State rooms. He felt it had gone really well and 'he had set the record straight'

Yeah, that said it all really!

well your going to think that arent you as you always get all worked up in a lather at any suggestion shes not quite as much of a victim as she makes out , im sure many of the girls were from these backgrounds and are genuine victims , im not so sure virginia roberts is as much of one as shes making out , and i have read that she was also procuring girls for them . it does not make me a criminal or disgusting to question her motives which seem to be always about getting money , if you want to read a load of shit into my views and what kind of person it makes me than fill your boots lol , at least i am capable of questioning things rather than having a blindly fixed mindset , and to be fair there are other people on social media who dont believe her account either , im not the only person in the universe who doubts her

supermoonrising · 02/01/2022 09:11

After that BBC interview I can’t believe the question is even being asked! I’ve never heard a series of more obvious lies and bullshit. I’ve heard eight year olds lie more convincingly.
