Do you think guilty or innocent

I was looking at pictures of PA, GM, JE and this popped up.

Prince Andrew is one of the members of the Royal Family who will be honoured with a Platinum Jubilee medal from the Queen in 2022.

The Duke of York, 61, stepped back from royal duties due to controversy surrounding his friendship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, but is still expected to receive the award

That's nice getting a wee medal from his Mammy 🤑🤑🤑

RoyalFamilyFan · 02/01/2022 12:44

Oh wow! That is so wrong that he is getting a medal from mummy.

merrymouse · 02/01/2022 12:45

winning the case could be a Pyrrhic victory as there will be no money

No, because it could lead to a criminal case, and whether she wins or loses, the case has highlighted that Andrew clearly sold the respectability of Royal association to Epstein, and this gave him cover that enabled abuse.

I disagree that this will be forgotten, even if she loses the civil case.

He might not see the inside of a prison cell, but there will be consequences.

@RoyalFamilyFan

Eastenders portrayed really well how grooming usually happens through older "boyfriends". This is a really important point. If your teenage daughter has an older boyfriend, especially one buying her expensive gifts, please find out more.
Maxwell & Epstein targeted particular types of girls too - poor ones, with single parents, absent/crap fathers, the ones who were already truanting from school. 14, 15 year olds who wanted to make an easy $100 giving some rich old guy a massage. Epstein did not have to spend a lot of money to lure them in. Then they could make a bit more money if they brought a friend or younger sister next time.

I have every sympathy with rape victims and I am prepared to be flamed but was that photo taken whilst abuse was going on, after or before.

Oh my god, could they get any more tone deaf?! Jesus Christ.
RoyalFamilyFan · 02/01/2022 12:48

The criminal case against Andrew never happened because he refused to speak to the FBI. If he is forced to give evidence at a civil case, that evidence will be available to the police to reconsider whether a criminal case could be pursued.
I am assuming this is why Andrew has asked for all the testimony in the civil case to be kept secret.

Tevion28 · 02/01/2022 12:50

She is beaming in the photo so was she just naive.

Can you see why it doesn't really matter? Why would her smiling make a difference as to whether or not she's a victim? Victims of sexual assault and rape being pictured smiling with their abusers is nothing new, whether out of fear, pressure to comply, social expectations... it doesn't make them less of a victim.
TatianaBis · 02/01/2022 12:51
@TatianaBis she died of cancer a few years ago and the children came to live with us. She did have several attempts to get clean over the years, but it was too late for her.
I’m really sorry to hear that. Good on you for taking adopting her kids, I wish you all the best. Flowers

RoyalFamilyFan · 02/01/2022 12:51

@Tevion28 there are photos of many teenagers beaming next to their rapists and abusers.
Some of the girls in Rotherham did not even realise they had been abused.

Do you not think there are photos from thousands of weddings, for example, where the husband is horribly abusive but the wife feels trapped by that abusive dynamic and social expectation to smile in the pictures? I'm puzzled that you can't seem to accept you cannot ever know the feelings of someone in a photo even if they are smiling outwardly.

If a 13 year old was 'beaming' in a picture with a much older boyfriend, for example, would that change the fact their 'boyfriend' was a predator and they were a victim? No. Smiling doesn't redefine victimhood.

They’re handing them out like dolly mixtures, everyone’s in the armed forces is getting one. It’s not the Victoria Cross, ffs.
Tevion28 · 02/01/2022 12:54

Yes I accept that but its something I've seen in other cases as well.

OP posts:
youvegottenminuteslynn · 02/01/2022 12:54

@Tevion28

Yes its just something I observed and she doesn't look like a victim in that photo.
Oh my god.

As a victim I find this attitude utterly bizarre. Does nobody understand there is no 'correct' way for a victim to look, unless they themselves have been raped or assaulted? Can they not engage critical thinking skills and deduce that a photographed smile doesn't mean everything is fine?

Oh FFS, please tell us what you think a victim should looks like

No flaming. Questioning when a photograph is taken is part of evidence in a court case. Evidence that will be corroborated (or not) with other evidence the public has not been privy too.

I think there is more than this photograph to go after Andrew.

Vapeyvapevape · 02/01/2022 12:55

What does a victim look like? Do they need to be sitting there sobbing with their clothes ripped off?

Good grief, please think a bit harder.

RoyalFamilyFan · 02/01/2022 12:56

You know there are photos of the Wests children smiling with Rose and Fred. Does that make their abuse any less real?

TatianaBis · 02/01/2022 12:57

@Tevion28 are you trying to get your own thread pulled?

This. Thoughts on this OP?
RoyalFamilyFan · 02/01/2022 12:59

Andrew is guilty as hell.
And there are I suspect more revelations to come during the civil trial.
Andrew might get off on a technicality while still getting medals from mummy.

Tevion28 · 02/01/2022 13:00

So maybe it's naivety then she didn't realise she was been abused.
