@xxAmy mine was passed to a case worker to work on over the weekend (just gone) and I received a text yesterday (Tues) morning/lunchtime. My claim was fairly straightforward with evidence from GP, cahms, consultant and hospital admissions.

tangledzebra · 12/01/2022 19:29

@Sunnyshine12121 I’m not sure what they mean by that but it seems like they are working on forms received around that date. Fingers crossed you hear soon

Sunnyshine12121 · 12/01/2022 19:36

@tangledzebra it's very stressful when they can't just tell you what's happening I also called a week ago today to be tould the it's being allocated the today I get that she will email my case manager 😒 I don't even know what that means I have never done this before first time applying x

tangledzebra · 12/01/2022 19:45

@Sunnyshine12121 I’m a first timer as well, I got conflicting information a couple of times when I called. I just had to follow the process and try to put it out of my mind,

I knew that if I didn’t get a positive response the first time I would ask them to look at it again- as the % of them being overturned is something like 50-70% when they review them again.

Sunnyshine12121 · 12/01/2022 20:24

@tangledzebra I understand that hun but it's about 15 weeks from when I first called so was like what's going on lol o well what will be will be. Will update when I find out

xxAmy · 12/01/2022 20:50

@Sunnyshine12121 the wait is tormenting, it makes me feel like I’m in the wrong for applying if that even makes sense. My little girls is with the case manager I was told today. How long has yours been with one for?
It would do no harm to ring tomorrow maybe? As not everyone does get a text message from them, it was a thing 2/3 years ago to get a text when your child had been awarded but I didn’t get one when my eldest got awarded. I had the money in my bank before I knew it awarded

NameChanged15729 · 13/01/2022 09:35

Still waiting here. I’m really hoping I get a text message instead of an agonising wait for a letter.
I wonder why some people get texts and others don’t, I can’t work this system out!

My son was awarded middle rate a couple of years back and I never received a text. I got a payment in the bank then received a letter with all the information. His is up for renewal early next year and it’s already giving me nightmares! Is the renewal form any easier?

Sunnyshine12121 · 13/01/2022 09:53

@NameChanged15729 when did you put your childs form in this is my first and all in from the day I called was the 4th Oct the got it back on the 25th October got letter to say they had it on the 30th so all in it 14weeks almost 15weeks. This waiting make me feel like I am in the wrong for claiming but could really do with the help the amount on shoes clothing ect that my son bits and kicks out.

NameChanged15729 · 13/01/2022 11:02

Hello! @Sunnyshine12121
I called them on Monday and they said that my form was received 26th October and was now with a claim handler. They didn’t say how long it had been with a claim handler for though so for all I know they could have received it that morning.
What was a bit weird is that the letter they sent out said it had been received on the mid November but the person I spoke to said October. I’m hoping it was October!

I feel the same, like I shouldn’t be trying to claim this money but like you it would really help. Kids shoes are the absolute bane of my life!
I’ve got my fingers crossed that you hear back soon with positive news. I’ve found this thread really helpful, it’s nice having people to keep you company who are in similar situations while we wait.

xxAmy · 13/01/2022 11:37

Iv just had the reward! Low rate mobility and high rate care! I’m shaking! I can’t believe it. I thought I’d have a battle on my hands for her. I’m so grateful I found this chat!
For anyone wondering my times
They revived my forms 8th November - rewarded 13th Jan

Sunnyshine12121 · 13/01/2022 12:09

@xxAmy when did you send your form back hun befor the review? So happy they finally gave it to her ❤️

xxAmy · 13/01/2022 12:15

This was a first time claim (I have other children) so it was a first time claim.
I have done a renewal yet, which scares me just thinking of it!

NameChanged15729 · 13/01/2022 12:20

@xxAmy I’m so pleased for you!
There seems to be a spate of people hearing back this week. Maybe it’s the backlog from Christmas and New Year being cleared.

Did you receive a text letting you know? I don’t know whether to try phoning them again tomorrow but I’m concerned that if they have made a decision I’m not keen on hearing it over the phone.

Sunnyshine12121 · 13/01/2022 12:26

@NameChanged15729 @xxAmy when did they get your forms? I was the 25th I really hope to hear soon its driving me mad I am not very good with waiting lol 😂

xxAmy · 13/01/2022 12:32

I haven’t had a text message I rang up, and asked the fella to double check it was her name 😂 as I was not expecting high rate. I called about 10:30 on hold for 35 mins. I asked if I could get a pen and for him to repeat it all to be I was shook

xxAmy · 13/01/2022 12:35

@Sunnyshine12121 they received my forms 8th November

Sunnyshine12121 · 13/01/2022 13:03

Going to be calling the again lol 😂 🤭 thanks for your help x

tangledzebra · 13/01/2022 13:10

@xxAmy well done, it’s such a good feeling isn’t it. Almost a validation and acknowledgment of your child’s needs. It was such a load off my mind as well, the financial pressure can be overwhelming.

I’m so happy you had the result you wanted.

Good luck to everyone else

Sunnyshine12121 · 13/01/2022 13:12

They have just tould me my son will not be getting it I am gutted wow 😔

Urthie · 13/01/2022 13:48

Sorry to hear that Sunny.

To all who have commented re PIP- I have just been awarded high rate for both sections. Claim started in May.

NameChanged15729 · 13/01/2022 14:45

My dd has been awarded higher rate care for two years.

I’m worried I was somewhat rude to the man on the phone as I didn’t know what to say and needed to hang up. It suddenly hit me that dd is severely recognisably disabled and I could feel that I was going to cry. I hope I’m not the only person who reacted like that Blush

I’m happy obviously! I can now pay for more speech and language therapy and swimming lessons in the nice pool that’s further afield but there’s a sadness there too. I hope I don’t sound awful saying that.

NameChanged15729 · 13/01/2022 14:47

I’ve just seen your update Sunny and I’m sorry you got that news.

Can you request a written statement detailing the reasons why and then ask for reconsideration?

tangledzebra · 13/01/2022 14:52

@NameChanged15729 I understand that feeling, it’s almost as if you are holding onto your emotions as you don’t want to think about getting the award as you might not get it, so you have to stay neutral. It’s an emotional process- more than I thought it would be @Lougle said the same up thread that she had a similar emotional experience.

@Sunnyshine12121 I’m sorry to hear that. Did you want to say what you applied for so maybe we could help/advise next steps? I would def try to get an external agency to support you and ask for a mandatory reconsideration. You can ask them to send you the reasons that they turned your claim down and then reply to each point. It is def worth asking them to look at it again.

@Urthie I’m pleased that you heard back.

Sunnyshine12121 · 13/01/2022 15:42

@tangledzebra Thanks everyone I just feel so deflated like know one is listening to me and they don't understand the stress and struggle of how hard it is to have a child with extra needs hypermobility sensory issues and anxiety also he has social issues. I just feel so helpless and not good enough because its taken so long for him to even get seen. All of this is awaiting to be confirmed but I have been fighting so long x

Sunnyshine12121 · 13/01/2022 15:45

@tangledzebra also in the autism spectrum that he is being assessed for
