Yay!! I just got accepted…. Just on phone to find out rate now….. so happy.

Dates for information: mine took just short of 12 weeks from date received to decision.

We are having lots of positive stories on the thread…. Fingers crossed for everyone else

xxAmy · 11/01/2022 11:44

@tangledzebra well done to you too ❤️

tangledzebra · 11/01/2022 11:48

Thank you @xxAmy 🤗

tangledzebra · 11/01/2022 11:58

I got middle rate until august 2025. I’m so happy 😀

Urthie · 11/01/2022 12:00

Well done tangled! Amazing.

Do the PIP text you if you are successful or do you have to wait for the letter?

My decision should be made today they said, my anxiety is through the roof though and i can't decide if I should just flush my phone in the toilet so I have some control over the situation as i will then be making the decision that the timing is in my hands...

Urgk.

LittleOwl153 · 11/01/2022 12:02

@Suzzie101@tangledzebra
Congrats to both of you - hope it helps make things easier.

Just to warn you I got my letter yesterday for Carers Allowance (dated 3rd Jan 22), award backdated to 19th June 202... so just shy of 6 months waiting on that one!

tangledzebra · 11/01/2022 13:20

@Urthie sorry I don’t know about PIP and how it works when they notify you, hope you hear soon

Robyn81 · 11/01/2022 13:25

Hey, I had my answer today, we aware awarded high rate.. mobility as not 3 yet, i hope everyone hears back with the answers they need soon.

xxAmy · 11/01/2022 14:02

@Robyn81 well done 🥰 when did they receive your forms? X

Urthie · 11/01/2022 14:04

Nice, well done Robyn.

I am still waiting here.

Robyn81 · 11/01/2022 14:24

They received them on the 27th of October, there seem to be a slow down over Christmas, I called on weds and we were still in the que, they said when I rang today the decision was made yesterday so hopefully they are getting thru the backlog

Mummaganoush · 11/01/2022 14:25

I recieved a letter yesterday dated 28th dec to state it was taking them longer to assess, but I wouldnt loose money. Had the same with my daughters application back in September last year. It turned out I was paid before getting the letter, so im wondering if the same will happen for my son.

Interestingly ive had mixed information around the wording of the letter, with my daughter she got the same letter and I took it to be the case that she had an award and they were finalising rates, as the letter stated "you wont loose money", but a friend said this isnt the case? If anyone knows id be pleased to hear?

tangledzebra · 11/01/2022 16:23

@Mummaganoush I think that’s a standard letter that they send out, to my knowledge they won’t have looked at the details of the case when they send the letter so it’s just a holding/acknowledgment and is saying ‘In case you are awarded, you won’t loose any money’ .

That’s my understanding anyway.

Mummaganoush · 11/01/2022 16:50

Thankyou, I will just keep my fingers crossed then aha

Lougle · 11/01/2022 16:57

Well done! It's a weight off your mind. Although I found I had a 'oomph' moment when DD1 was first awarded DLA at high rate care - it made me realise that she really did have needs and I wasn't being dramatic.

Although, she's 16 now and I still think I'm making it up sometimes, despite her needs being so very obvious. I think it's a throwback to the first 2½ years of her life when I was being told that I was neurotic. Nope, brain malformation, epilepsy and (now diagnosed) ASD.

Suzzie101 · 11/01/2022 18:05

could someone please tell me how carers allowance and carers element work, what’s the difference & how much to expect please

@Suzzie101 have a look on the web site ‘entitled to’ www.entitledto.co.uk/ if you create an account you can save different calculations, it guides you through the steps and makes the calculations/entitlements to benefits specific to your situation ie if you work, are a single parent family etc.

I know that carers allowance is £67.60 a week and there are specific eligibility requirements and limits on how much you earn. Details here: www.gov.uk/carers-allowance

It is also taken as earnings if you get universal credit, not sure of your exact situation.

It's £67.60 per week. The earnings rules are a little complicated because things can be deducted from earnings, but essentially you need to earn less than £128 per week after tax, NI and allowable expenses.

Carers allowance is taxable, so it will affect tax credits at a rate of 41p in the £. Universal credit considers it an overlapping benefit, so they deduct it £ for £, but you also get the carers credit. Having carers allowance gives you class 1 NI credits towards your state pension, too.

Conspiracyornotr · 11/01/2022 23:23

Do you ring for a form for carers allowance? X

Lougle · 12/01/2022 06:46

www.gov.uk/carers-allowance/how-to-claim

You claim online.

xxAmy · 12/01/2022 11:09

I feel sick! Our claim is with a case manager

tangledzebra · 12/01/2022 11:16

@xxAmy when was it passed to a case manager?

Try to put it out of your mind and focus on something else, you can’t control the outcome now so just try to think of something else.

I do understand the worry. Hopefully it will be good news

xxAmy · 12/01/2022 11:21

@tangledzebra I’m not 100% but I’m guessing yesterday or possibly today. I’m definitely going to keep myself busy 🤞🏻
Did you know how long your claim was with the case manager for?

Pugsnotdrugs101 · 12/01/2022 11:26

@xxAmy mine was passed to a case manager on 30th dec and my decision was made Monday eve (but they weren’t in for a couple days over new year!) if they haven’t requested any extra info should hopefully be pretty quick for you! Fingers crossed

Sunnyshine12121 · 12/01/2022 11:59
